As I said, the article is a mess of contradictions.  When you've lost all 12 points, your are banned from driving for 90 days.  However, points lost will not be restored for 12 months!!

    Go figure.

So you drive with no license for 9 months.

40% of the population drive for 12 months with no license now....

And school kids 3 or 4 to a bike.

The wife's daughter has had a bike 12 months now,  and still hasn't had any time to do the driving test..

    Mai bpen rai.

How can they sell a bike registered but the rider has no licence???

put camera's on every red light, take away a few points and make them pay or impound the car, eventually they might learn

    who am I kidding ????

    But that is too easy.

These new cameras are capable of recording multiple images and things.

    (Subject of a previous post)

The thai police are only capable of thinking about one thing at a time.

    Play with phone

    Tea money

    Eating

    Looking for farang to fine.

Avoiding anything that concerns paperwork and effort...

  3. I still advocate the use of sheriffs and bailiffs to crack down on the amount of unpaid fines.

Scan the number plates and impound the vehicle or clamp it until all fines are paid.

Instead of complaining about the unpaid money (hospital bills too) link it to the passport and flag it on departure.

The passport number is on the driver's license and the same is recorded by the hospital's.

But that only takes care of the pesky farangs...

Would be interesting to see the % of each nationality.

Quite a good way to have a visit visa refused nowadays.

Thai Visa Express is OISC accredited. One if the best companies out there.

Having known someone who worked for VFS, she categorically said that an agent would not have any influence on the application.

What you pay the agent and what you pay VFS are separate amounts.

If you're a bit naive about the process, perhaps talk to a friend about it.

    Or an agent...

Especially if you have technical issues, or legal problems.

But why pay the mega fees they ask for? (Agents)

Current charge is £1,000 Thai Visa Express. 40,000 baht.

Oh, a sponsorship letter is still advertised as allowed.

As the UK sponsor you will be expected to demonstrate that you can fund the holiday, and you have adequate accommodation, and meet the cost of the onward journey (airfares).

If you have money to burn pm me lol...

Just a point on the five visas my girlfriend had to the UK I always deposited 30000 Bt in her bank account some months before the application along with a return flight in my mind to prove if things went wrong she had the funds to return having £60 on arrival hardly gives her that independence

But they specifically say not to book flights until the visa is granted.

Plus it has a 12 week prior and cannot use before a certain date printed on the UK Visa.

Yes, the proceedures are very different, and whilst much of your advice is helpful, I need to point out again that the UKVI specifically advise not to send photographs.

The list attached is the way I have obtained visas 4 times for the UK and Australia.

A 3 to 5 minutes check, pay the fee, do biometric information and the package is now sent to India for final processing.

But still happens in about 7 days.

UK is attached to the passport.

    Australia is electronic visa.

A friend in pattaya used an agent 2x times and blew 40,000 baht.

    According to the girlfriend.

However,  we sat down together and I showed him the online site, he followed the process steps and took the paperwork to Trendy building Bangkok,  all done and back in 10 days...

But in this case perhaps someone was having a bad day?

I can only sympathize with the OP, because it is a straight forward process.

*If the partner is not working, just say so, and no need to show her bank account information.

You have to blame the system and the stupid teachers, Just saw a video of a male Thai teacher in Udonthani smacking a young Thai girl on the head very hard because she didn't hear what he said.

The kids have no chance with morons and bully's like this educating them.

I hope someone knocks him out very soon.

Or sending a child home with a message scribbled on their shirt,

"you have not paid your school fees".

  8. Meanwhile, Pol Col Phaisit Wongmeuang said there were many cases of Thailand being used as a base for copyright infringements still under investigation.

    Err.

    Does this include self investigation?

Thailand is one of the biggest copyright infringement countries in the world.

Just about everything is knock off as they call it.

Even the official merchandise labels are knock off..

Typical boss. Boss makes a big mess of something and expects others to clean it up.

The problem here is, as has already been said, if the private sector doesn't see a reasonable chance for a ROI, they won't invest. That's the big difference between government spending and private sector investment.

When with the Blue Oval (Ford) we always looked for accelerated depreciation incentives and R&D tax write offs.

    It's not Rocket science.

Double the depreciation rate for the first year, 150% R&D tax claims.

    Gain without pain..

He also asked companies to buy in USD to ease the baht pressures.

Many overseas companies trade in USD now with say a +/- 5% trigger on movements.

Unfortunately it all comes at a cost..

Nobody in their right mind is going to buy from Thailand when the currency has strengthened around 35%, meaning they need 35% more to do the same purchases.

Maybe he needs to learn something about Management Economics?
