  1. There must be a joke here about dental appointments rising dramatically but i can't think of one.
  2. Most tourists will not even know about this if included in the price of the air ticket. In terms of the overall cost of the holiday, it is nothing.
  3. Fortunately, a US judge has allowed a civil case to proceed. US judge, TS Ellis, has said she must face the music, at least in civil court. He ruled... that a lawsuit filed in the US state of Virginia by Dunn's family could go forward. They are claiming wrongful death. On Wednesday, Judge Ellis said the family could also pursue a damage claim against Sacoolas' husband. She was driving his SUV when the collision occurred. Judge Ellis chastised Sacoolas in a court teleconference last month: "Accepting full responsibility doesn't mean you run away."
  4. Laws in every country tend to vary but without an extradition warrant it may be hard to get a person unless that person voluntarily returns. An American woman who killed a cyclist in a hit and run in the UK fled the country and has never returned for prosecution, while this Thai woman may never be handed over without a warrant from the US police.
  5. If she had run off with another guy, why would he report her missing?
  6. Shocked anyone has a million baht credit on a card. Seems like asking for trouble. Some companies send you a text message when you use your card so you could cancel immediately if something is wrong. i went to Malaysia many years ago and the situation there was so well known the bank called to say they had cancelled my card after returning. A copy could have been used at any time so they said it was better safe than sorry. I agree.
  7. Can you imagine them using this creature to hold back student demonstrators in Bangkok? Or letting them off the leash to chase people across fields in the South of Thailand? This is a PR disaster waiting to happen.
  8. There were many who thought sovereignty would mean all colored foreigners (as well as white Europeans) would be ejected without the EU to stop it. We are not talking about the sharpest knives in the cupboard. I don't understand why you think racist attacks on Muslims originating from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh after the referendum (there was a huge rise in hate crimes starting from the day after the vote), were not caused by racists who didn't understand or care that those people they attacked were actually British. The news at the time was full of it. I can guess that not many Poles are Muslim. https://edition.cnn.com/2016/06/27/europe/racist-attacks-post-brexit/index.html https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/brexit-hate-crimes-racism-eu-referendum-vote-attacks-increase-police-figures-official-a7358866.html%3famp https://www.vox.com/2016/6/23/12005814/brexit-eu-referendum-immigrants https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/brexit-david-cameron-nigel-farage-council-of-europe-report-racist-violence-intolerance-hate-speech-uk-terrorism-refugee-crisis-a7345166.html https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/20/racism-on-the-rise-since-brexit-vote-nationwide-study-reveals https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/brexit-hate-crime-racism-immigration-eu-referendum-result-what-it-means-eurospectic-areas-a7165056.html?amp https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/amp/entry/eu-referendum-muslims_uk_576e558ce4b08d2c563937ff/
  9. Look, Brexit was a decision based on racism, not economics. British people of southeast Asian origin were taunted the very next day with "You're going home!" And "Go back to where you come from." Where they came from was often Birmingham or Nottingham. Ordinary people don't understand trade, economics or industries. In their minds they understood that "millions of dark*es are flooding Britain." You can't expect these people to have sensible reasons.
  10. Good. I don't blame the Thais for getting <deleted> off with pee.
  11. Getting very confused. Responses here are mentioning two passports of the same nationality. The article says two nationalities, which I thought means dual nationality. I was under the impression that dual nationality was now allowed. I remember former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva explaining to Parliament that he had no intention of giving up his British passport. Then mention of overstay, which surely doesn't include Thai passport holders. No mention of illegal Thai passports. Can someone confirm if dual nationality is allowed these days?
  12. You're talking about a hundred years ago. I am talking about today, when people blow stuff up and run across the border. https://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/06/world/asia/malays-reject-accusations-they-aid-thai-separatists.html
  13. Pity a reason wasn't given for the ban. Visitors getting high while tapping windows? Drunks throwing up in the canal?
  14. The police forgot the other possible motives. They should keep a list of possible motives to fill the gap whenever a murder occurs... Murder-suicide; a mysterious third hand; a feud with neighbors; land dispute, aliens, the list goes on.
  15. Many people here who have dogs expect them to be burglar alarms. I don't they would euthanize a dog for savaging a burglar. There is a guy near my home with two of the darned things that go up the soi sniffing and defecating everywhere. He has kids so i am just waiting for a disaster to happen.
  16. Probably cannot as Malaysia protects the rebels with an eye of creating a Muslim buffer. Or even having the southern states secede.
  17. No mention here that the target number of tourists is irrelevant to their expansion plans. The commissions from construction companies is much more important. When the airport higher ups retire, they will be wealthy and not responsible for the lack of tourists.
  18. Unfortunately, the RTP would rather send corporals to prison than generals.
  19. Not sure why Republicans point at Biden's age. Republican Senator Charles Ernest Grassley is 89!
  20. I did read elsewhere that most Thai people cannot swim. A rare number of public swimming pools outside Bangkok. Parents forbid children from messing around in rivers. Who can afford swimming lessons when the next meal is important? If there are westerners here with Thai kids, teach them to swim.
  21. Everything you wrote about Liverpool and Fulham seems completely irrelevant. As i wrote, he was welcomed with open arms when he arrived. That a military junta later tried him in abstentia and found him guilty (a forgone conclusion if they were to justify the coup), the UK still did not arrest him or return him to Thailand. In fact he was able to visit several countries later.
  22. It seems like the Americans are still pushing plastic gloves over natural latex.
  23. He entered the UK in 2008 and later bought Manchester City football club. The British didn't turn him over to Bangkok.
