The Profitable Global Climate Change Hoax/Con/Lie
Purdey replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Off the beaten track
In July Clauser gave a talk at the event Quantum Korea 2023. He warned the audience about the growing amount of pseudoscience and misinformation. “Now I am not alone in observing the dangerous proliferation of pseudoscience. Recently, The Nobel Foundation has formed a new panel to address the issue called the International Panel on Information Environment. They plan to model it after the UN’s International Panel on Climate Change, the IPCC. I think personally that they are making a big mistake in that effort because in my opinion the IPCC is one of the worst sources of dangerous misinformation. What I’m about to recommend is in furtherance of that, of the aims of that panel. […] I have a second elephant in the room that I have recently discovered regarding climate change. I believe that climate change is not a crisis. […] Beware. If you’re doing good science, it may lead you into politically incorrect areas. If you’re a good scientist, you will follow them. I have several I won’t have time to discuss, but I can confidently say there is no real climate crisis and that climate change does not cause extreme weather events.” Source: https://clintel.org/nobel-prize-winner-dr-john-f-clauser-signs-the-clintel-world-climate-declaration/ Very interesting. Is Clauser a climatologist? Is his career based on studying the climate? Could a dentist make the same claims? NASA and others claim that 97% of climatologists say climate change is true. https://science.nasa.gov/climate-change/faq/do-scientists-agree-on-climate-change/ This implies that Clauser, who is not a Nobel Prize winner in climatology is in the 3%, doesn't it? That is fine as scientists are allowed to disagree. I am sure that if a biologist told a physicist that space is made of blancmange physicists would have to consider it. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-024-01928-2 -
COVID Vaccines Could INTEGRATE with Human DNA: Yale Research
Purdey replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
A peer review is the evaluation of work by one or more people with similar competencies as the producers of the work. Those peers can see the entire raw dataset used in a research study, allowing them to independently verify the results presented in a research paper by analyzing the original data themselves, rather than just relying on the author's analysis and interpretation; -
COVID Vaccines Could INTEGRATE with Human DNA: Yale Research
Purdey replied to Red Phoenix's topic in Covid/Vaccine
Personally, I look for facts, such as, "This drug is poisonous " or "This vaccine causes fatal effects." Easy to understand that the statement is believable. However, the use of modal verbs like, "COVID Vaccines Could INTEGRATE with Human DNA," " COVID shots may INTEGRATE with human DNA." "These findings raise the possibility." And any sentences using likely, could, believe to be etc. are suspicious and used to show it is not certain. Also, scientists don't use full caps to state a fact. I am quite willing to accept if a peer review proves a vaccine is dangerous for many people, as opposed to one in a million. Until then, best to keep schtum. -
I've always lived in Bangkok but never in the city center. Close to Chatuchak where I go cycling, and a short distance from Nonthaburi for countryside. I do go into Bangkok city for dinner with friends but not often. The British club is fine for food and swimming. Other than that, I have a three bedroom house in a quiet lane that is peaceful. Find somewhere where you can get the best of both worlds. Pattaya is just too busy and messy for me.

I don't keep pets in the house but one cat wanders in, let's me hold it and scratch it behind the ears. Enough for me

Thai Court Rules Traffic Fines Can't Block Vehicle Tax Renewal

I find it more convenient to pay fines through the ATM rather than wait. I have seen one person told he can't renew his license without paying outstanding fines. -

Kittiratt Urges Rate Cuts to Prevent Economic 'Disaster' in Thailand
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Many middle-class Thais have been saving money in banks that offer almost no interest, and it looks like their savings will decline as inflation surpasses interest rates (depending on ow much the government wants interest to go down). Without pensions here (except government employees), how are people supposed to save for retirement? Encouraging more debt through low interest loans will do more to hurt than help. If they want to lower lending rates, the least they can do is offer some kind of saving scheme with better, and low risk, returns for ordinary people. -

There may be a clue in Chinese language signs at building sites I suppose. -
I remember when Red Horse was first sold. Thais said it was "dirty" because it gave them headaches the next morning. The brewmaster at Thai Bev told me they didn't realize it was 7% and knocked it back like Singha Light.

New Thai Police Chief Sets Bold Crime-Fighting Agenda
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am interested in how narcotics suppression works. Do you just try to kill or capture the people who make and distribute drugs (in every increasing numbers), or do you find out why people take drugs in the first place? We know truck drivers take them to stay awake on long shifts that don't allow them rest. No different from the allied soldiers in World War Two who were issued benzies to stay awake longer. It would end with restriction on how many hours you are allowed to drive. Poor people take drugs because their lives are so dead-end that they have no hope. Perhaps the government could do some research into the reasons people take drugs and attack the problem at source. -
Tourists Ignore Police in Patong: Drag Locked Motorbike Through Streets
Purdey replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
There seem to be some foreign tourists who have been told foul lies, like Thai policemen are lazy and corrupt. That many of them can be bribed to avoid legal hassles. I don't know where they get this from. -
As a PR holder, I was allowed to use the old automatic machines that Thais used. Then they changed the machines. Haven't used the new ones yet but the old ones took a picture of your face, which explains why you don't need a stamp in the passport. The system has a record of you leaving and returning.
