I now did PM you the same info as 5ilver > Hope it helps.

It consist of 1 - a Guideline document on how to meet the insurance requirement for the Non Imm O-A when applying for it in your home-country.

2 - info on how to meet the 100K US $ covid-19 insurance requirement applicable for EVERYBODY entering Thailand during covid-times.

    Thank you peter ☺

For the mandatory Non Imm O-A health-insurance, you would need one that meets the 400K/40K in/out patient requirement imposed by Thai Immigration and where the insurer provides you with a Certificate stating that your policy meets those requirements.

Obviously the ridiculously low 400K in-patient is also covered by the SafetyWing assurance (or any other insurance). BUT most insurance policies do not separately mention the 40K out-patient coverage, and foreign insurance companies are reluctant to sign the Foreign Insurance Certificate as it refers to Thai legislation with which they are not familiar.  As those conditions need to be met, your only chance to get the FIC signed is when you have a good personal relationship with the agent/company rep of your foreign/international insurance provider, and I doubt that SafetyWing would be willing to sign/fill-in that FIC (obviously you can try and ask them).  But in case you are not able to get the FIC filled-in/signed by your foreign/international insurer you have no choice but to subscribe to a Thai IO-approved health-insurance policy, the LMG Insurance policy being the cheapest one (next 'cheapest' one is at least 2.5 times more expensive).

The SafetyWing insurance provides a 250.000 US $ accident/illness coverage and INCLUDES covid-19 (at a premium often lower than the 100K US$ covid-19 ONLY insurances provided by the TIP).

There have been people re-entering Thailand with the SafetyWing insurance (or with other foreign/international insurance) that meets that 100K US$ requirement, so it certainly is NOT required to buy such insurance from the Thai insurance lobby.

As well as info on how to meet the 100K US $ covid-19 insurance requirement applicable for EVERYBODY entering Thailand during covid-times.

Well that clears things up peter, not!, can you also send me that guide and I'll try to unravel the mystery ☺

SafetyWing < https://safetywing.com/nomad-insurance > provides on-the-fly travel-insurance which includes covid-19 as part of their 250.000 US$ accident/illness coverage.  At age 53 you would pay approx 103 US $ per 4-week period and the policy can be cancelled anytime.

Combined with the cheap 'throw-away' non Imm O-A compliant LMG Insurance Plan-1 policy (6.000 THB in your age-category, with no medical required), it would be difficult to find a better deal to return to Thailand on a Non Imm O-A Visa when you are not already covered by your existing foreign/international insurance.

Not real cluey on Insurance but if safetywing includes covid why do you need a second oa compliant? , isn't safetywing compliant?, and which one of those two includes the $100000 us coverage?

You can apply for the STV at the Thai Embassy in Finland.

But what is quite strange is that the requirements do NOT stipulate that you need to have Finnish nationality or passport to apply.  The website even refers to a 'police clearance' from your country of permanent residence, so this implies that citizens of other countries than the Low-Risk ones might apply there for the STV.

So that might be a 'back-door option' for those under 50 years of age and not married to a Thai national, to enter Thailand using the STV...

EDIT > Did check on the website of the Thai Embassy in Denmark where you can also apply for the STV and there it states that:

    1. Please Note that, only non-Thais from countries included in the list of COVID-19 low-risk countries are eligible to apply for the Tourist Visa (TR) and Special Tourist Visa (STV). As of 16 October 2020, Denmark is included in the list. However, Lithuania is not included.
    2. The list of eligible countries for TR and STV will be updated on 1st and 15th of each month.***********

So most probably STV only available for passport holders of low-risk countries as mentioned on the current list of eligible countries (note that also Sweden and Norway are on that list, so effectively covering whole of Scandinavia).

Stv is listed as an option on the thai embassy in Australia, there is a little caveat as follows.....

2.1 STV is valid for a single entry into Thailand for a long-term stay for tourism purpose only.

2.2 Applications for STV can be submitted by those residing in the country with a low-rate of confirmed COVID-19 cases as determined fortnightly and officially by Announcement of the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand. However, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney reserve the right to put all applications on hold as deemed necessary until further notice.

    That last bit indicates what?

... Hi from Mark mark ! ... I do not write too much anymore. I am stranded in Adelaide Australia. The Upside is we have no CV 19, and few social restrictions and we do not have to wear masks .... The down side is that I am most defiantly, and well definitively …. STUCK !!! @#$%^&)&^ .... Whichever way you look at it.

Things have improved a bit as a pacific Prime broker got me Insurance with LMG ... which is a Thai insurance Company that IS on their list, and well at 64 + and at that age if you have not got some sort of medical history ? … Well you are not Human right ... but let’s not go on down that road !!! …

But I got it and now can apply for an -OA visa and continue the frustrating, hurdle jumping, and see how much you can reduce the costs ??? Game !!! ??? And just hope for the best. ??? ... As you all here are indicating. …

… Like greatest condolences to all here, stranded also … Just like me but possibly in much worse situation

(If you can get a Thai AIS ? Sim and have roaming switched on, then you can transfer Money around from your account IN Thailand … and well Credit cards are just a Godsend !!! But let’s also not go down that road either, just by saying …Well if you stay in Thailand, or anywhere for any length of time … you SHOULF financially set yourself up as best you can.) …

... And also let’s not forget everywhere else, and everyone else, that have just been totally <Deleted> by the usual Circumstances of Birth, … and NOW this Bloody Virus, and the ? Crazy ? Well pretty serious reaction. And well the Dead ! A Real thing !!! And also the total destruction of some of those that do get it's Bodies !!! And the destruction of the mentality of a VAST proportion of the world’s Population also.

I think that the Virus is caused basically, by Over Population, like how it spreads any way ...  And it was the norm really !!! Just waiting to come to us ! ? Well, … AT us !!! …. Like the countries that have the most trouble with it are ? Usually Over Crowded ? And also cold, so the people like congregation in side !!! ??? ... And countries with BIG socially interacting Families, … or friends. ... I think ?

... So I have the Insurance, so well I think that we all will need that probably ? From Now on !!! … Like they were talking about / trying to force all of us Retirement Non 0 visa holders, in to get it from June ? July last year !!! And well, NOW they have the opportunity just to "DO it" ... and I think that they will stick with this.

Still with reasonably cheap, (Choose a very High Excess, as you will probably never be lucky ? Well unlucky enough to have to use it any way, and also exclude extra services, except what the NON –OA requirements are, … and it is then cheaper, … and accept the Exclusions with the same reasoning, ...  and yes it could be cheap ???) …. Yes renewable, Insurance ! That suites the NON -OA Visa requirements ... Then you are in the game for the duration I suppose ? …... and hopefully sooner than later … but well if I live long enough, … it could still be later when I get to use it.

… Yes WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN ? … Well the Guys here that thought that we all SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ... that the Lock down was coming, sure did get it Right ... Though the SARS epidemic and HIV and other Problems before that were highly contagious, and were killing People … But ALL of them, didn’t close the whole world down !  Like this Animal to Human Malady, CV 19 Has. ... So well maybe we could be excused for missing it this time ? ....

And well I think that they now are refusing to recognize the NON -O Visas (Like I have got) .... So time to apply for a NON -OA Fellas !!! Right ! ?

And good luck to you !!! …. Maybe see some of you on a Repatriation Flight ! ? Or in the BKK airport !!! ... Right ? ... Let's Hope !!!

And yes … let’s look at the big picture also and pray for the Dead and the Dying ! … And the long term Crippled.

    Mark mark.

And thanks to Richard xxx ? And the others on here who have helped me … and others quite possibly I hope.

And to Rooster for his objective Kindness that he still puts in to his weekly column also.

Hey mark, and how much was this ubeaute insurance, surely better priced than pacific with decent coverage?.

Yes, please let us know the result.  I plan to go out of Thailand early next year, then return with my valid extension of permission to stay based on an original OA visa.  If I'm required to apply all over again for a new OA, it will be very difficult and almost a deal-breaker.

I think the Insurance alone makes an OA visa a non starter, the premiums are excessive to say the least with minimal coverage, also read the fine print, just another way to harness dollars from desperate foreigners trying  to return to the land of smiles, for retirees  OA is finished, O is the new norm, but you cannot get back into the country with an O, wait a couple of months and tourist visa's should be back on, then obtain an O in country, and some reasonably priced health Insurance, forget the above if you have deep pockets, obtaining an OA, COE, FTF, Flight, ASQ, will easily set you back 100,000baht ouch!.

Meanwhile Natthaphanu said that 22,000 CoE (Certificates of Entry) have been processed worldwide from those gathering paperwork to return to Thailand.

I certainly believe that this is in fact true going by the amount of people posting on Thailand Asq hotels on facebook, many people have already been through and are now free to roam, others are on their way, many asking for quotes from asq hotels, and some are reviewing these hotels.....which could be a risky proposition, what type of visa they are on i have no idea but they are all quite happy to pay those prices, keen I'll give em that.

The lack of compassion in the replies is mind-blowing. He is in a difficult position. He's feeling all sorts of emotions. He misses being with his partner. He just wants to get home to Thailand. I see lots of people scolding the man for not returning sooner. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for supressing your humanity.

Totally agree,  Op don't take any notice of these keyboard warriors with their feeble views, they only come on here to abuse someone after a belly full of courage and have the intelligence of a typical garden pea, I do hope it all works out for you and you are re united with your gf soon.

  9. If they did more testing on the vast population you would probably find a lot more infections, this virus cannot be omitted by isolation, it is everywhere, perhaps it is because thai's are more resilient to it and don't know they actually have it, it cannot be controlled, it is too clever, it wants to multiply, some people succumb to a bee sting, with the majority it has no effect, with the minority it has drastic consequences.

  10. Well they have asked the locals for their opinion which is a good pr move, they should also ask long stay foreigners (bunnies) their thoughts on their plan, without them it wont work will it., I am sure many foreigners will be ok with the idea, as it is, there is no real plan in place, a list of all participating hotels, flights, visa, which countries, etc , are yet to be announced, all that can not be set by next month, this is a flawed plan and will never get off the ground, songkran 2021 is my prediction.

    Can leave Australia any time.

    Just request to leave.

    And have somewhere to go.

    Its not hard.

It took 24 hours to get the ok.

More details?, I am under the impression that if you apply for a two week stint in Maldives which is open btw, you will be rejected, however if you are leaving for 3 months plus your good to go provided you can prove you have funds to back you.

You misread my post, I am not one of those prepared to jump through hoops and pay thousands of pounds.

I am currently in the U.K., my Thai partner and son are here with me sitting waiting till the government comes to its senses and realises that the current procedures they have in place will drive Thailand into recession.

Patience!, wait until December, it will be back to normal, why pay thousands now, Rome was not built in one day!, by Christmas we will have a possible antidote, and china will allow Thailand to receive tourists, as will most other sea countries, all is not lost but patience is a virtue!, or you can go to the Maldives today.
