I just got back from 4 nights break in Hua Hin on Monday. I never seen the place so deserted. Yes many restaurants and bars open but the wife and I were almost always the only customers eating and drinking. The beach was particularly deserted, the only people we seen in the sea were locals collecting shellfish.

There were 4 rooms occupied in our 25 room hotel. We stayed Wed Thus Fri and Sat and the weekends were no different. Saw a group of 10 same-tshirt wearing staycationers who had obviously taken advantage of the Hilton and other 5 star resorts in the government initiative.

The Market VIllage mall and the night market was also deathly quiet.

The only busy place was behind Blueport Mall where there was a festival of sorts aimed at locals. Tamarind Market was about 20% full. The Father Ted Irish bar had a (very bad) Rolling Stones Tribute Band on the Friday night, and it was packed with farang expats, but everywhere else was deserted.

The bar area in Soi Bintabaht was the quietest i've seen it, and there is whole row of 5 or 6 closed-down restaurants. The locals/owners we spoke to are thinking late next year for any real recovery, if they can survive till then.

Very sad as it is my favourite place to have a short break.

    Finally an honest summary! ☺

Not sure what rabbit hole you are looking in, ladies and clubs aplenty in Jomtien and Ban Chang

I am sure simpletons still enjoy it, however I do not consider it a great place for a holiday in it's present state, many are married to Thai's and have little choice but to stay there and wear the virus out, except for accommodation it is expensive to live there, the excise on a bottle of scotch is through the roof, things like butter, milk, and you cannot find a decent loaf of bread that is affordable anywhere, chicken is cheap but don't move to the salmon Isle, many items you just cannot get there that is plentiful in other countries, They do have exotic fruits though, still as I said each to their own, I would rather be in Egypt atm but cannot leave same as op.

'better times'? it's never been better here in LOS and in Pattaya in particular. Very pleasant place now it's not maxed out with people.

I cannot understand how you guy's like a place that is dead, there are no tourists, no clubs, no ladies, I mean that was the attraction, not a dormant convent, still each to their own I suppose.

  4. C'mon expats, stop with the complaints and dig deep, help to pull the country out of the sh#t, actually when was the last time you guys paid anything back for the privilege of staying here, go ahead do a good deed tomorrow, go into 11 and give the young lady behind the counter 1000b without any fanfare, or a police officer....he would appreciate the gesture or lock you up for bribery , take the family out to the islands and tip, tip, tip, dig deep, you will feel better with each donation ????

Oxford University developed a new vaccination method for training peoples' immune system to produce more T-cells.

If that works, it should be made mandatory for travelers to Thailand where no locally transmitted CoviD-19 case has occurred for 2 months now.

Problem is it has to be tested on people over a long period of time to determine if there are any ill effects, what is good for one might not be good for the rest, this testing will take many months if not years, there is actually over a dozen drugs being tested on humans not just one.

A little off subject maybe, but last night while watching U.K. tv, I was shocked to see an advert for "Visit Amazing Thailand".

This is the first I have seen since the breakout of CV19.

There maybe a little light flickering at the end of the tourist tunnel. ????️

If that is in fact true then you have a better chance of flying there than we have in oz, we are locked up tight and cannot go anywhere, oz was originally a convict nation, not much has changed it seems ☺

  7. Life is risky!, at the end of the day it is up to the thai authorities to make a decision not based on one doctors comments, I believe they should remain closed, there are people out there who are desperate to get into thailand and money is no object, the current restrictions should remain indefinately or at least until a cure is found., bar owners can turn their hand into farming or other productive adventures, there is always an alternative.

  8. You have to remember that when the outbreak started many countries were closing their borders to the chinese, but not Thailand, borders remained open for some time, people were scratching their heads wondering why they were still allowing them into the country, then china banned travel on it's citizens, so finally thai closed it's borders, Imagine how low the numbers would have been if they acted immediately, it would be all over now.
