Not exactly plug and play. I had to copy the ONT Authentication parameters from the router which I was replacing (Huawei HG8145V) to the replacement device (Huawei HG8310M) . This is described in the PDF attached to my post which you quoted above. I had previously configured the HG8145V to "bridge" mode with the ASUS router connected to it. I had to specify the 3BB pppoe userid and password in the ASUS config. Hope this is of use to you.
