Tourists from Scandinavia are being asked to 'keep warm', and to avoid being out during the colder nighttime hours. Firewood will be provided for heating purposes if needed.

It's the typical Thai greed... Two years almost no tourists, so they have to fleece the ones who come after to make up for the shortfall. Maybe next, instead of 40 million tourists, they will try to attract 4,000 billionaires, paying a million baht entrance fee when arriving in Thailand. Good luck with that, Thailand!

I take it, in case of being ill, you have to foot the bill first, before trying to recover the hospital bill from the insurance firm? - Who in their right mind will pay a lot for such an insurance, and still having to pay when sick, with no guarantee that he will get his money reimbursed. With these new conditions, this is a visa now which I will never apply for.

"According to the Thai Immigration Bureau and the Department of Consular Affairs, 3,768 foreigners were granted non-immigrant visas last and this year." Guess, they won't get many more applicants anytime soon.

Thai men seem to like putting their little 'willy' into strange objects. Here's another such news item I found today... "For readers concerned that there hasn’t been enough news coverage of genitals getting stuck in things, we’ve got you covered. Though we missed coverage of a Kanchanaburi man who had gotten his member stuck in a bottle opener earlier this week, now rescue workers have come to the aid of a man in Bangkok who has found himself with his penis stuck in a PVC pipe. Thai national news picked up the story and detailed the man’s ordeal as he was brought to a hospital in Bangkok to deal with his, er, pipe organ. Rescue workers were brought in by the hospital from the Rom Sai Rescue Foundation who used cutting equipment to remove the PVC. Rescue workers said that it was an easier job than removing the bottle opener as it was easier to deal with plastic than metal (worth noting for those who may experiment). After being called it, it took only 10 minutes with their cutting tool to free the pipe from the man’s privates, though they were not kept private as the ordeal was chronicled on the Rom Sai Facebook page with details of how they freed the willy. They said they posted the story and rescue efforts as a way to warn others that such experimentation with props can lead to dangerous circumstances. The rescue team said that these sorts of rescue calls were becoming more frequent lately, with one rescue member saying it was the third member he had rescued this week. The Rom Sai rescue team kept professional though, saying only that they operate without judgement of how people choose to satisfy themselves. Thai news showed a demonstration using a plastic bottle of how they used the same technique they use to cut rings off of fingers to save the man’s genitals. Rom Sai does rescues like this as a free service. And if you’re not as sexually adventurous, they assured that they provide the same service to remove rings stuck on people’s fingers. No mention was made of what size PVC pipe was used in the incident." SOURCE: ASEAN Now

Great! But how, sitting in the back, can I now... 1. check that the driver turns on the meter when my ride starts, 2. check that the meter is not 'running faster' as it might have been manipulated, 3. describe to the driver 'which way to go' to my destination (as a good number of drivers know how to get to the 'Airport', but are 'lost' when it comes to other places in town)? -
2021: What's your favourite beer?
StayinThailand2much replied to 2009's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Used to drink Singha when I first came to Thailand. For a while Red Horse was my favourite, but, for some reason, San Miguel Thailand stopped brewing it. Nowadays it's usually San Miguel, or Heineken when out for a beer. -
Thai women conned into selling sex in Bahrain - woman arrested
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
There are some destinations (e.g. Japan, Hong Kong), where it is difficult for Thai women to travel to, for obvious reasons, even though a pre-arranged visa is not required. No visit without lengthy Immigration interviews on arrival. -

True. I talked two women out of this about 21 years ago; even went with one to the Australian embassy, as this was were she was being lured. Heard from others how they were lured to Korea and Malaysia with promises of getting rich quickly, and how they came back without a penny, but rich in 'experience'... -
