  1. 'Pro' of sending back your dish cause it's not 'properly' cooked; they may actually do it. 'Con', they may spit into your dish (or worse)... 😆
  2. A slice of toast and a coffee. (No time for more.)
  3. The planned 300-baht fee is no airport tax, but a tourism tax due every time one crosses any border post, incl. shopping trips overland, say, to Vientiane. It will neither be used to improve airport, nor tourist facilities.
  4. Yeah, that's what every tourist dreams about. Being doused in dirty water, and most shops being closed... 😆
  5. Why do they never stop at Zebra Crossings? I quote, talking to a few Thais about this: "No zebras in Thailand..." What do you expect in a country, where every immigration official, bank clerk, etc., etc., makes up their own rules and/or ignores existing laws and regulations?
  6. So, they expect tourists to get drunk before boarding a flight, thanks to the fact that during their yearly holiday they were only allowed to drink water and soda?
  7. Has been going on at K-Bank for years.
  8. Partly outsourced, as so many things these days, to China... 😆
  9. And not to be confused with the Congolese-Brazzavillians... 😆
  10. Well, Kuala Lumpur is not Thailand. In Malaysia, I've never been asked 'why you come many times'.
  11. Yes, but not my loss. And again, it always depends on the syllable stress. One can easily hear, if Thais use the word as a slur, or not.
  12. Thais who use this word, except in a well-meaning tone, or unknowledgeable sense (both rare), I simply ignore. If they have a business, I vote with my feet. Similarly, ignorant foreigners that use the F-word, showing me that they have 'gone native', I usually ignore, or avoid as well.
  13. Spot on. IMHO, we won't get anything meaningful (e.g. hospital treatment) for it. It's just a money grab. But yes, I appreciate the planning assistance. Instead of most of the year for the next few years, I will plan only 2-3 months in Thailand, checking out Vietnam, the Philippines, etc. instead.
  14. What insurance?? I don't think, it will guarantee entry. And any 'insurance' one might get, will be useless. Okay, maybe they will insure accidental death with 10,000 baht... 😆
  15. That's what I meant. Not keen to pay 300 baht every time, so, personally, I will limit my trips to not more than 2 a year due to this extra bureaucratic (not so much financial) burden... Also, what happens if one is denied entry? Will there be a on-the-spot refund in cash by the IO? 😆
  16. I don't mind paying once, but imagine you travel to Thailand six times a year; that would be a cool 2,000 baht incl. bank fees...
  17. Most likely not a problem for people travelling to Thailand once a year for a short holiday. But will be tricky for tourists that like to visit other countries in the region as well, before returning once more to Thailand. Personally, I will probably get a visa for, say two months, extend it, and that's it till next year... Will just spend the other nine months somewhere else.
  18. I don't think that this will happen. IOs want to keep their power to ask you inane questions ("Why you come many times?", "When you go back your country?"...) - The automated gates will, IMHO, only be used at Departure.
  19. Agreed; Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia are all much better value.
  20. Well, the CCP warned, not so long ago, about seafood from Japan.
  21. So, they cracked down on call center scams, and the Chinese didn't bother going to Thailand anymore... What does that tell you about Chinese tourists in Thailand? 😆
  22. Is this Google-translated? 😆 If the perpetrator is American, why did the mother file a complaint with the French Embassy?
  23. Wow, that's 49,090 baht for one person's holiday! 😲 Are people sleeping on the beach again, splurging on Mama noodles, or both?
