    Either it will fail, or stop many from visiting twice in a year... Doubtful that it will do much to raise tourism income.

    Well, personally, I rather have a short delay than the risk of frequent flight cancellations with no compensation. (Used to fly often with AirAsia years ago. Not any more...)

    They had great tourism statistics on the TAT website until 18 years, or so. Then the numbers fell, and the statistics weren't published anymore...

    I don't think such unmanned arrival gates will ever happen in Thailand, unless they can invent one that flips through every page of your passport, before asking you: "Why you come too many times..." 😆

    Yeah, lower Sukhumvit needs more tourists from Africa, holidaying at the BTS exits... 😆

    True. Just add up the four top countries (with more than 1 million visitors). It doesn't even add up to 18 million, and with no information where the other 17 million tourists came from... Seriously, what are they hiding; 5 or ten million "tourists" from Laos and Cambodia?

    Well, maybe they want foreign tourists to stay '15 days or less'... Will keep that in mind, next time I travel to Thailand.

    (Illegal) Chinese tour guides at construction sites?? 😆 Is that the latest tourism trend, after travelling for hours to Thailand to 'visit temples'?

    It's actually a world-wide phenomenon. And the downturn in even luxury item sales suggests that the main reason for people turning to online-shopping is not affordability, but convenience.

    Fair enough, as visa exemptions, theoretically, and factually 😆 can be used to enter Thailand as many times as needed...

    Exactly. And it sucks, if you get to the supermarket at 2:10 PM (maybe because of a traffic jam), and then not being able to buy a bottle of beer (as a grown-up) until 5 PM... So, just check ID, if you think the buyer is too young.

    Whatever "global norms" are. In my country, I can buy beer at any time of day as long as someone sells it, and in Australia, you just need quick 'assistance' at the self-checkout. So, why not just check ID of young-looking buyers?

    People have different preferences. And (most) mom and pop stores don't sell my favourite brands.

    So, even after that, still having to time my alcohol purchase, esp. when grocery shopping... No wonder, that I haven't bothered to buy much alcohol in Thailand in recent years.

    Doing this, and, possibly, having to pay in person, as discussed, wouldn't they check and compare application date and visa stamps?
