  1. How about if you stay at hotels (and haven't booked for a full year)? Would that be accepted?
  2. Damn, it probably would have worked out for him, if he had not invited the transgender... 😆
  3. Exactly. Living on 100 baht a day for 9 years, so, probably only eating rice with extra rice, no fun, beer, mobile phone, clothes buying, etc.? I know few people who could do this. At least, with so much frugality and sad life, he should have put it in the bank.
  4. Not to hijack the post (for some reason couldn't make a new post here), what are the latest requirements and timelines to change from a 60-day VFE to a retirement visa/extension in-country? More info: - Want to apply in either, Chaengwattana, or Jomtien - Staying in hotels (just came back after 1 year abroad) - Age over 50 ✅ - Thailand bank account ✅ - 800,000 baht in bank account ✅
  5. Big fan now of "AntsCanada" (Canadian guy, singer, now living in SE Asia, creating biotopes in his house), "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", "History Matters", and Lei's Real Talk (about China), just to name a few...
  6. Well, I am an expat, having lived in Asia for the past 20 odd years. Can you please tell me where in this region I can apply for a Thailand METV? Sorry, but travelling all the way back to my home country for a visa is not an option, as flight and hotel costs would be inappropriately high. If such a visa was offered in KL or Singapore, I'd happily travel there to apply, however.
  7. Saw an ad today on the BTS for Lactasoy milk: 9 baht... Heavily advertised a few years ago as 'Lactasoy 5 baht', so a whopping 80% increase in only a few years. Services too; last time I went to my regular Bangkok barber (mid 2023), I paid 160 baht, but less than two years later he's charging 200 baht now, that's a 25 percent increase over the past 20 months!
  8. Foreigners = "criminals"?? Wonder, whether the regular police does the same with locals...
  9. Why?? Do Chinese tourists have to pay U.S. customs duties in Thailand for 'importing themselves'?? 😳 And why are they instead flocking to Japan, despite of these?
  10. Yeah, perhaps in a parallel universe... 😂
  11. Didn't the TAT just recently announce an anticipated spending bonanza? Seems, that the Thai Restaurant Association has a much more realistic view on consumer spending (unless, of course, Thais have stopped eating out)... 😆
  12. Rewatching some of my favourite drama shows and sitcoms: 'The Day of the Jackal', 'The Rings of Power', 'The Walking Dead', 'The 100', 'The Office (U.S.)', 'Two And a Half Men', 'The King of Queens', while waiting for new seasons of 'Outlander' and 'The Rings of Power'...
  13. Exactly; always when I arrive in Thailand, needing change, I go to the next 7-Eleven, pay, say, with a 1,000-baht note, then turn around, and buy some more with the given 100-baht note... Easy way to get some needed 20s and coins.
  14. I have yet to meet Indians, Brits, Israelis, (etc.,) spitting, urinating, defecating, etc., wherever they stand, and right next to/in the direction of other people, unlike some Chinese citizens do.
  15. Well, he/she should probably just copy what Trump's doing right now... 😆
  16. Tell me about it; I'm 30% down... Hoping for a recovery till late 2026.
  17. Problem today is, that most Thai women (I use 'lady' only in the aristocratic sense) on those websites/apps seem to look for income rather than love.
  18. I made the same experience there. Certainly more friendly than Thais, Burmese, and, probably, Vietnamese and Laotians as well...
  19. Also, I'm sure that The Thaiger (and other Thai media) would point out clearly that she is "Thai" if it were a positive news item. Only when Thais abroad go rogue, their other nationalities are mentioned, or it is trivialised with cute terms, e.g. "little ghosts"...
  20. Interesting. In my home country they're using Hookah-Shisha bars for all the same reasons (esp. criminal activities, money-laundering, etc.)
  21. Exactly. I was on the second floor of a building during the earthquake, but I stayed all cool. Only checked, whether there appeared any cracks in the ceiling, or not. Talking of which, I wouldn't be surprised if the TAT soon blamed 'earthquake angst' in case less Chinese visitors arrived... 😆
  22. Never been asked for any cash at Immigration in 28 years. Only time, I was ever asked about money was at airline check-in in China (on the way to Thailand), cause they couldn't understand how someone would be admitted without a pre-arranged visa. 😆
  23. Will arrive in Thailand on April 30th. 😆 Last time I arrived by air, and overland, the TM6 forms were still used. What is the latest on providing accommodation information (Email, screenshot...) to the IO?
