  1. Not a fan of condoms. However, I have often been in long-term relationships, with few 'professionals' in between, esp. during the past 10 years...
  2. One category of the LTR Visa: Work-from-Thailand Professionals: Remote workers employed by well-established overseas companies with an annual income of at least USD 80,000. What companies actually do offer such jobs for overseas remote workers (or is it tailored to diplomatic personnel)? Please, Thailand, advise how I can land such a job... 😆
  3. Someone correct me, if I'm wrong, but, as far as I know, is a Tourist Visa only good for a stay of up to 60 days. It (usually) needs to be used within 90 days after issuance. But yes, one can get an extension of 30 days at an Immigration office incountry.
  4. Yeah, personally, I never got a vibe for Soi Bangla, or the nightlife in Patong in general, not when I first travelled there, and certainly not nowadays.
  5. I meant about the foreigners, but thanks for your prejudices... 😆
  6. For once, because Western societies are so divided these days, with, at least, 40% always 'against it'. It's most obvious on social media. If I were to post on FB that 'milk is white', I'm sure, within half a day, I would receive a dozen replies, either denying it outright, or bringing arguments that 'things are not that simple'... 😆
  7. Once more, no mention of decades-old scams and 'double'-pricing... 🤔
  8. Wouldn't they need a work permit then, or be prohibited from working?
  9. 4. Get a formal contract with an offshore employer and a DTV 5. If (4) doesn't apply, get a tourist visa and 'stay under the radar' 😆
  10. Maybe, but the Schengen-countries don't rely as much on tourism as Thailand does, so why does Thailand insist on this?
  11. Do many 20-year old (Thai) digital nomads have 500,000 baht in liquid assets? Also, what, if they don't exactly have a formal contract with a non-Thai company? 🤔 Also, what sense does it make that the upper age limit is 50? Once the digital nomads turn 50, they have to look for greener pastures? 😆
  12. In my home country there is a minority of 20% that, literally, want to let 'everyone' in. Then there's about 20% of the populace that is like 'meh'. - Guess, to what part of the populace the government listens to? (Hint, it's not the silent 60 percent.)
  13. Thailand would act, no doubt. The problem with Western countries (exceptions: U.S., Denmark, to some degree Italy) is, that governments there are all talk, but little substance. Defense budgets are hiked up to counter an imaginary Russian aggression, while the war (IMHO) is already here; 100s of thousands of young male (jihadists?) each year, and weekly reports of one of these young men from Afghanistan, or Syria going on a killing spree with a car, or knife... People in the West, esp. women, fearing for their safety and that of their children, while no 'real' refugees arrive, but only young males from particular war-stricken countries... Unless Europe wakes up, and sees the real threat to democracy, I have little hope that our societies will survive this in the long term. Why not send troops to the Baltic, Polish, Bulgarian, Greek, etc., and all Mediterranean sea borders to turn people smugglers and those who, obviously, are no refugees, around? (I'm sure that this is exactly what Thailand would do in such a situation.)
  14. Those people I can spot, believe it, or not, and, usually, don't tip them.
  15. Agree. I mostly just tip for good service, meaning not always; if so, usually between 7% and 15% for my barber and helpful taxi drivers. (Most Thais don't tip at all, I've been told.)
  16. Is Madrid in South America? Makes sense to me; probably a good number of flights to different destinations in South America.
  17. Google is your friend (with official TAT figures): "According to TAT data, Japanese tourists stayed an average of 7.74 days last year, with average spending of Bt4,900 per head per day, contributing a combined Bt57.73 billion to the economy. European tourists typically stay around 15 days, while Asian travellers stay an average of five days."
  18. You're assuming that the country has a coherent tourism policy, but it hasn't. There are the corrupt TAT and tourism ministry on one side that want to make money from mass tourism, and then there is the equally corrupt Immigration department at the border posts, hoping for bribes from 'safe entry services' and/or income from fulfilling denial quotas...
  19. ...wearing gold necklaces and visiting Pattaya. 😆
  20. Maybe the tourists like to travel to the (real) land of smiles, Cambodia... 😆
  21. Strange. I've had a different experience. No problems entering for two decades, then, suddenly, almost denied at Don Muang, next almost denied at Suvarnabhumi, before entering overland, where I was almost denied as well. Numbers 2 and 3 involved tense interviews, so, yes, I suspected that 'something' was in the database. Strangely, all started after possessing a METV earlier...
