  1. It's a macabre topic, but it was mentioned that 'a saw was found in her body', probably meaning that, while he tried to dismember her, the saw got stuck... That's maybe when he panicked and tried to leave as quickly as possible. May she R.I.P.
  2. Wonder, where one can find the 40-year old decree published.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised if such machines came back...
  4. Word was that one pays "only" 500 baht crossing overland...
  5. Some parties have big spending plans. No easier targets to fleece than tourists.
  6. Yes, and the latest news is that Move Forward wants to be in a coalition with 5(?) other parties. Considering the different interests and agendas of these parties, it will keep journalists busy, no doubt, but it remains to be seen whether such a coalition will last long...
  7. ... and the love for mango & sticky rice. Also, even on dating sites, oftentimes you see the girl either eating in pics (Thai food), or stating that she 'loves eating'...
  8. I was grilled at both Bangkok airports in late 2019/early 2020, despite having spent a couple days each time in Vietnam. (The second time I even had a flight out the same day from the other airport, but was almost denied entry despite of that!) The more often you arrive visa-exempt, the more likely it will be that you'll be questioned or even denied entry... Sadly, IOs seem to be back to this practice after the pandemic.
  9. Again, depends on the IO, but having a visa is much better than coming repeatedly visa-free. As for the Multi-Entry Tourist Visa, I think it's not available for non-residents in the locations you mentioned. Past reports stated that Bali is not a great place to apply for tourist visas. Perhaps someone can add recent info in regards to the embassy in Vientiane...
  10. Largest party vote, yes, but they still need to form a coalition, which is never easy.
  11. There is a chance, even though, officially, there shouldn't be a problem. Depends on the IOs on that day and whatever instructions they received from higher up. I wish they would announce a 'rule' of how often one can travel to Thailand, like 3 times visa-exempt, or a total stay of XXX days in a row, rather than leaving one at the mercy of grumpy IOs and their 'mood' on that day...
  12. Watched a news item from Western Media this morning, where it was mentioned that 'Prayut could still stay in power, if he wanted to', thanks to seats reserved to people with military background.
  13. I very much doubt that any Thai party at this time has a 'long-term tourist strategy'... (After all, Thailand, officially, doesn't have any immigrants, just migrant workers, supposed to 'go home' after X months, and us tourists...) We'll just have to suck it up and wait what comes our way in regards to how often and long, and under what conditions we will be welcome or not... Anyhow, Thaksin (inofficial leader of Pheu Thai) wasn't very foreigner-friendly, and neither is Anutin, so I neither expect anything 'good' for us from Anutin's party, nor from Pheu Thai.
  14. I'm only glad that neither, Pheu Thai, nor Anutin's party didn't do too well. As for the repercussions of a new government for expats, we'll have to see...
  15. What if Pheu Thai says 'no'? And no, having the most votes doesn't take a party automatically into government, esp. if that party has only about 30% of the votes. But yes, there are numerous examples around the world where the strongest party wasn't part of a government, but instead was sidelined by a coalition of other parties.
  16. "Pita To Become PM" So the leader of a party that scored about 151 out of 500 parliamentary seats becomes automatically PM? Interesting!
  17. Often, when I go to Boots or Watsons, there are those katoeys, who can speak English (and who probably were hired for that reason), who ask me what I want, but I rather look by myself. (The paracetamol or whatever I want to buy is in the two aisles away from dozens of aisles of cosmetics, I know that by now...)
  18. My ex-girlfriend once asked me who my 'favourite Thai premier' was. While I jokingly said 'Xi Jinping', I actually thought 'Chuan Leekpai'... If I had the right to vote in Thailand, I would probably give my vote to the Democrats.
  19. I'd volunteer for paid field research...
  20. So, if 10 new bakery shops opened in Thailand, the news would be: "Thais eat more bread"? New businesses open all the time, and a good number may very well fail... What was there first, hungry tourists sleeping on the beach, or new hotels and restaurants waiting for guests?
  21. Another such well-reported (by ABC Australia) prostitution-ring with Thai lasses can be found along Australia's East Coast, with unofficial broth*** in Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane, etc.
