Dangerous to go swimming when the waves are high . Everybody knows this . But some still do , overestimating their physical capabilities . When a strong current pulls you out to the sea , it is better not to fight against it and lose your power , just keep above the water and let it take you away until it becomes weaker . Somebody will ( hopefully ) notice you , even far out ...

Many Thais like guns . If somebody makes them ' lose face ' , they may use them , not thinking about the consequences ... impulsive , ' non thought through ' actions make them and others suffer . Leave them their guns , just like in the US they do not want to lose them . Just do not produce ammunition anymore ...

Ukraine war: Biden says US will not be intimidated by reckless Putin
nobodysfriend replied to webfact's topic in World News
Just read this on CNN , very funny but true ? https://edition.cnn.com/2022/09/30/europe/russia-ukraine-annexation-analysis-intl/index.html > " The days ahead will be febrile enough that this is a question nobody should seek to answer. But we are slowly seeing the gulf between what Russia wants, what it can do and what is actually happening – a gulf it normally filled with fear and threatening rhetoric – being exposed on the world stage. How Moscow reacts will decide the world we live in in the next decades. "< -

Ukraine war: Biden says US will not be intimidated by reckless Putin
nobodysfriend replied to webfact's topic in World News
The Wuhan wet market was the origin of the first appearance of the virus . It was most likely spread from a slaughtered animal ( pangolin ) . At least that is the official result of the investigation by the WHO .... But the threat of a nuclear war in Europe is another thing ... -
Ukraine war: Biden says US will not be intimidated by reckless Putin
nobodysfriend replied to webfact's topic in World News
Will Putin use Nuclear weapons in the Ukraine or not ? If he does not , he will likely lose the war . Ukrainian soldiers are well motivated and armed . US intelligence is helping them a lot . If Putin does use nukes , it will directly lead to a reaction of the western forces . What will that reaction be ? Counterattack on russian territory ? That would be the start of WW III . -
Ukraine applies for Nato membership after Russia annexes territory
nobodysfriend replied to Rimmer's topic in World News
Given Putin's intention to annex part of the Ukraine , it would be a good lesson for him if the Ukraine became a NATO member in record time . If , ever , he decides to use Nukes on Ukraine , it would be a nuclear attack on NATO with all the consequences . Ukraine with all it's valuable resources would be a welcome addition to the EU and Nato . -
This species is on the brink of extinction anyway . Completely inoffensive and defenceless it cannot react to the change of the environment . Less seagrass to feed on will only accelerate the decline ... SAD .

That trash that washes up on the beaches is only a small percentage of the trash that is dumped in the ocean by being disposed off in rivers . I listened that chinese researchers invented a new , sustainable kind of plastic that dissolves itself after some time without doing a lot of damage to the ecosystem . That is the way to resolve a looming emergency .

Always better to have some fun with a race where nobody get's hurt . ALL conflicts should be solved in a sportive way without human or other casualties . Let Putin fight personally against Zelensky . Give them a few weeks to prepare for that fight , but accept the outcome ... 55 Circus maximus , like in ancient Rome ... Just a joke ...

Prayut vows to push ahead with mega-projects
nobodysfriend replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
In some way , he is right . Mega projects , once approved and initiated , ( and serving a good cause ) should not be abandoned . There are enough derelict building projects already ... -
Like in so many other countries , politicians in Thailand and the public as well , are deeply divided in nearly equal percentage points ( 50/50 ) . If there are elections with a not very clear result , the opposing ( losing ) party will many times deny the outcome and violence may occur . This violence will be suppressed with more violence ( and tricky legal manoeuvres ) by the ruling party . In the end that only deepens the division . May be , the fault is in the system . If there are elections between , let's say , 2 parties , and one of them wins with 51 % of the votes , the other one get's only 49% and loses , there are still 49% of the electorate who should get to take their part in the future government . The government should consist of members of both parties , ( 49 to 51 % ) and decision of that government should be mutual and voted for by the general assembly . That appears to be a fairer system and any frictions between the parties that form this government could be resolved in parliament already . If that does not work , the example of Switzerland by asking the general population to vote for a particular decision of importance , seems to be more democratic .

Does that mean that they will raise the interest rate equivalent to the economic expansion ?

The annual inflation rate in Thailand rose to 7.86% in August 2022 from 7.61% in July and compared with market forecasts of 7.85%. This was the steepest rise in consumer prices since July 2008. If they want to keep up with that , better they follow the US example and rise interest rates to a level that really helps combat the inflation . 1 % is not enough .
