I don't see the reason to call them public minivans but anyway, public or private, I don't want to use minivans.
Fine use private taxi.
Don't understand what you are asking

That said, now I'm decided to use Nong Khai, I'm still going to have a look about flights to Udon.
In my years (way back) of border/visa runs, I would fly from Bangkok to UT and stay at bar area just behind central plaza.
There is mini van from front of plaza to Friendship bridge.
The taxi from airport to Udon Thani is now not a rip off..
Some tips are posted in attached thread

Your plan looks fine.
Out of interest is the plan to fly Bangkok to Udon Thani?

Can I use a statement from my Australian Super Fund to fulfil the ฿800,000 "in the bank" requirement for the retirement visa?
No

Those who suggest 800/400/400 are WRONG
From another thread asking about changing from money in bank method to income method here is a cut and paste post from ubonjoe.
"You will need to keep the 800k baht in the bank for 3 months after you apply for your curren extension and then 400k baht until you apply for your next extension using the 65k baht income option."

Does the Bank method not require you to have 800/400/800 for 3/7/2 months to satisfy that year's requirement.
Some suggest 800/400/400 is all that required.
As a "cover all bases" I'm planning on doing 800/400/800.
The reason being that if any issue with income method (,eg pension certificate) etc.,..then I have fall back option of continue with funds in bank method

So yes, at some point in Year One, you have got 800k in the bank to satisfy that Year's requirement, and you are sending 65k per month getting ready for Year Two.
Exactly what I'm currently in process of doing.
Using funds in bank method and from date of last extension have been making monthly deposits of 65k+

Just go shortly after arrival and start the process to ensure there is plenty of time in case there is an issue with anything. Also when you get the Non-O they can do the extension based on retirement immediately after
The OP indicated 20 days early and that is plenty to allow for any slip up
When the non O and 90 day permission of stay is given the normal process is to apply as early as 30 days remaining and 45 at some offices.
Agents do it in one hit. OP is not using an agent.
The plan he outlines is sound..

Was told TM30 was not necessary, nor were my wife's ID card and house book.
Thanks for the update.
However others note that TM30 is often required for 30 day extension.
Like many things at immigration it's luck of the draw.

By "consideration period" you mean the period of time the 400k needs to sit in the account right?
When you apply for 12 months extension based on marriage you are given a date to return..
That can sometimes be eg 4 weeks away..
Refered to as under consideration period.

As to his "The Final Decision is up to Immigration" = Immigration's agent-system for repeat-entrant permission will apparently be preserved.
Read several times ...no idea what you are staying.
The OP has indicated that plans border bounce.

Think you will find top up to 800k not required provided 12 month transfers can be provided.
However good back up to continue funds in bank method if any issue

the multiple non-o is still there, same paper work, now you need appointment and adequate finance is required
Can you point to a multi entry non O from HCMC in recent times.
I have seen denied applications at Hanoi.
Some comments re HCMC in attached thread.
OP, have you considered Savannakhet.

OP, I agree with above post.
You do realize that for the 12 month extension the 400k only needs to be in Thai bank account in your name only for 2 months plus under consideration period and then can be spent.
Thinking a single entry non O and subsequent 12 month extension is a good option.
+ A reentry permit if you plan to exit Thailand.

So it would be best to get a 90 day spousal visa from Laos and then extend in the case of staying with wife.
imo You could just border bounce which currently provides a 60 day permit. Which is extendable by 30 days.
Then obtain non O marriage.
Then subsequent 12 month extension....OR
Depending on how long you plan to stay you can obtain 60 day extension to visit wife.

Is it the financial requirements that rules out non O based on retirement and subsequent extensions.

No.
Non O based on dependant Thai child is possible when not married.
eg divorced.
You indicate still married.
Immigration will want you to obtain non O based on marriage and subsequent extension along with the required financials

Should I apply for a spousal visa or a child dependant visa?
You most likely/certainly will not be able to obtain non O based on Thai child.
You will obtain non O based on marriage since you are married to thai national.
You will need 400k in Thai bank account in your name only 2 months prior to application and maintained during under consideration period.
Forget non O (Thai child dependant)

You talk about a family visa, normally its Thai spouse ext (wife) or Thai dependent ext (child), if its your child and documented that way, marriage cert, birth cert in your name, you could go for Thai dependent, which funds have to be there on the day of application. The extra documents you will need are birth cert, childs ID (if they have I) and blue book registration
The OP, is currently married.
He would need to apply for extension based on marriage

There was something in a thread recently that an O visa required insurance with a thai company but as far as I know that has never been the case with a spouse visa..hopefully not because they are not reliable as I found out once before during covid lock down..
Extensions from a non O or non O-A based on marriage do not require insurance.

I will go to IT Laski mall, but do we do the TM30 before or in the immigration office there?
Does my wife need to join me?
Most likely the document check chicks will send you away without TM30.
Your wife does not need to be with you.
This thread lists other docs required. Photocopies etc

First up how did you enter Thailand.
If visa exempt you will attend IT mall LakSi.
If with a visa eg SETV you will attend CW.
Most likely you will need to provide a TM30
Edit: you only received 30 from dates mentioned so you go to LakSi

You could just as for a visa for visiting thai family, instead applying for another extension. Get a multi re-entry permit, then on your return apply for the marriage extension
As I pointed out earlier ...that would be an option if he has previously not obtained the 60 day extension.
Also he would only need a single reentry permit to protect his permission of stay for trip to UK during the 60 day extension

You are aware of the options. Just do it.
