  1. I wouldn't disagree with you. I think most American cars aren't fantastic and hardly any of them are pretty damned good.
  2. I think HEV figures are largely irrelevant but I do think PHEV is relevant.
  3. choice of blue/black or grey/black IIRC
  4. We have more than one house. My daughters live in CM term-time and in Chiang Rai during holidays (currently have 3 months holiday). I do go to CM for long weekends every 2 or 3 weeks.
  5. Don't forget you don't need them any closer than 150km. It's not the same as petrol/diesel stations at all. Most people will never use a charging station. My daughter's never have, I did once to test it, I have never needed to in 3 years of BEV motoring and that's driving from Chinag Rai to Kamphaeng Phet, nearly 500km.
  6. When my 2 daughters started at University in Chiang Mai, we initially rented a house whilst we looked around for something to buy. I asked the landlord if I could fit an external 32 amp socket for EV charging, with permission granted I paid an electrician to do that with a new 40 amp breaker in the consumer unit who charged me 3,000 baht. Your landlord will probably allow you to do this as it adds value to the house and future tenants may well have EV's. At our new house in Chiang Mai, we fitted the same 32 amp socket outside and used the same MG wallbox with the 32 amp plug I had wired to it, but this time we screwed it to our wall. You could ask your landlord?
  7. They probably didn't include it because it was qualified by "but pretty damned good". Ford recognises the threat posed by Chinese EV's, whether they can compete remains to be seen, and IMHO they can only compete if the gov't starts some protectionist policies. I like that I can buy what I want here.
  8. Your Ford article is wrong. Mar 28 2024 Ford’s CEO Jim Farley called the Seagull “pretty damn good,” as he warned rivals. Farley said at the Wolfe Research Conference last month that if automakers fail to keep up with the Chinese, like BYD, “20% to 30% of your revenue is at risk.” In response, Ford is shifting from larger to smaller, more affordable EVs. https://electrek.co/2024/03/28/byd-evs-enter-knockout-round-new-tech-launching/?fbclid=IwAR1_zbTBl60xSTRWz4i6XaTpsvQPHd-Tvdy6Qk3D-nEIFwoLT3PIzKORPAk_aem_AZotUpvMFEHhkEkcBuWbqMFVBI1zq1ltOQx1KORodh3-VEaBDXAlrWtSBxo2xmaKHs4 I added the bold emphasis.
  9. If you can get hold of the MG card or app, you can use the MG fast chargers with other cars, they are just branded versions of one of the major networks, I forget which one, but I have used one on a non MG car without any problems. You are supposed to be able to buy a card at MG but the one dealership I found wasn't able to get it working in the days before we got our first MG EV I prefer to keep it simple, I'm not interested in RY this or RY that, just plain simple statistics. I do think what is important is whether people are turning to EV's or not, and the ratio of new registrations tells us if it's happening or not.
  10. I can’t see the MG charger network there
  11. I could, but you don't have the intellectual capacity to understand it
  12. Run along Jake. Go play stupid some place else. We're all stocked up here with Vinny, ExPat, Trannyman etc.
  13. Jakey lad, a DC Charger is a fast charger PERIOD, try reposting your map without your self-imposed limitations which are there presumably to bolster your case. I don't know where you get 4 hours from, most people charge 10-80% or 70% of the battery capacity, with a car with the larger 80kWhr battery and a 50kW charger, that would only be about an hour. 4 hours is nonsense.
  14. The more I read your posts, the more I am certain the 72 in your name refers to your IQ
  15. 50kW chargers are fast chargers, why did you exclude those under 100kW ?
  16. Why are you limiting it to chargers over 100kW ? All DC Charging is fast charging. You don't need to filter on anything other than plug type
  17. I will be as surprised as you if I get price protection, but I will cancel if I don't. I was in Vietnam last week, Vinfast cars are horrible.
  18. Your Thai Tax Expert's advice is absolutely correct. DO NOT go to the tax office and ask stupid questions. I can transfer 20M baht per year to each of my daughters as a gift, it is tax free to them providing they declare it on their tax return. It is important they don't transfer any of it to me otherwise it becomes tax evasion. I will be transferring sums to them each year. The awkward issue is crypto. Whilst it's not a great proportion of my wealth, it is likely to become significant enough over the next few years that I will have to leave Thailand for 6 months in the year that I sell it here or pay 35% tax on it. I don't like paying tax unnecessarily and I do fancy a round the world trip in a couple of years. A round the world trip is already cheaper than 35% of my crypto today so it's a no brainer.
  19. I do have a TIN, I was given it when I was appointed a director of one of Thailand's large listed companies over a decade ago, they were a client of my company in the UK too. I have forgotten what my TIN is, although I suspect it's probably the same number on my Pink ID Card. I have brought in over a million pounds to this country, yes I am involved in a business here (limited company), however I take no salary and my daughter owns 99.997% of it so I have no need for a TIN, or to bring money in for quite some time. Having lived here a very long time, I think I understand some of the workings of the authorities here. I think it highly likely they floated publicly and ambiguously this tax liability for foreigners in their usually murky fashion and wait to see what our reaction is. I feel very strongly if people trot down to their local tax office asking for TIN's this will help authorities make the decision on whether or not to implement it. My advice is DON'T do it, until you absolutely have to, there is a good chance this will encourage the authorities to abandon it. It would help if you knew where Article 18 comes from
  20. The Tax people are probably waiting to see what we all do before deciding whether to tax our overseas income. If you go and register for a Tax ID then it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  21. As I see it there are currently 2 choices... a) you pop along to your local tax office and get a TIN (Tax Id No), or b) you wait until it's clarified or for as long as you can If a you do a) then you are sending a message to the Tax people that you want to pay Tax. If a lot of you do a) then the Tax people will think "Great, foreigners are like sheep and want to be taxed, let's tax them!"
  22. A refund in Thailand? you would have to be some kind of idiot to hope for that.....
