Pawned Cars For Sale - Very Cheap
JBChiangRai replied to wozzlegummich's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Numpty? -
i was thinking more like the Mustang 5.0 I mentioned on AN this week.

Only if you are stupid enough to do it with insufficient visibility and certain the approach roads are clear. EV’s will undoubtedly change incrementally for the next 40 years, I won’t be alive by then

Plenty of ICE cars left for dead by me at the traffic lights, they sure as hell looked peeved

Of course they are allowed, they are between 10 and 140 times less likely to catch fire than a petrol car. Shopping malls have charging facilities in their enclosed parking spaces. -

I would have offered to pay for it, have it wired to my meter and charge other EV owners to use it making a small profit, but then I have always been an entrepreneur. -
I watched a couple of rally stages as a teenager.

Strange, to describe an undesirable byproduct of a car as a "feature"

Don't forget if you have a charger at home you will never need a charging station within 150km or 300km if you're destination is further than 300km away. Both would be ready by the time I have had a coffee, sandwich & pee. Some can yes. Some cars can charge at almost 2,000 km/hr. My car charges at nearly 700km/hr.

There is a special channel you can have fitted and you drop your cable in it. however, people do leave cables trailing across the streets which is obviously a trip hazard. -
Favourably

Thai Driver Licence in Europe
JBChiangRai replied to JustAnotherHun's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I am suggesting that Thailand is a signatory to the Geneva and Vienna convention on road traffic and your full Thai driving licence is all you need in any EU country, or around 90 signatory countries to that agreement. It’s entirely possible a local policeman may not understand the relevant law and reject your Thai licence OR YOUR IDP PERMIT. In either case escalation will resolve it in your favour. You can waste your money on an IDP but you don’t need it. -
Neither would take longer than it took you to have a cup of coffee and a toilet break.

That exact post was on facebook, here was the reply... This new invention the ICE has poor torque at low revs, so we will fit gears to compensate, it is noisy and vibrates tiring its occupants, so we will fit mufflers and sound proofing, We will no longer get up in the morning to a vehicle fully fueled and ready to go so we will have to visit smelly petrol stations every week, queue up and fill with highly explosive hydrocarbons that the ICE will explode in something with 100 times more moving parts than our EV's producing poisonous gases in the process. Our new ICE will be unreliable because of all the moving parts and more than 10 times likely to catch fire. Yes, how excited people will be.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Now that would be smart, making a bet on a public platform in a country where betting is illegal. -

The law is the law. Your Thai driving licence is all you need. why waste money on an IDP that may or may not be legal. Your Thai licence is legal PERIOD. He's as wrong as a wrong person can be. -

Better to say his Accord Hybrid doesn't have the extra feature of being able to charge it by plugging it in thereby saving 80% of the fuel driving it on mains charged battery over charging it with petrol. Battery technology will improve incrementally, the current versions are NOT impractical compared to legacy fossil fueled cars, ask any of the owners here, we will probably all confirm they are superior. I don't think 500+ km range is impractical, even the budget models are around 400km, you shouldn't be driving even that distance without a break. -

We ended last year with 25% of new cars registered in December being EV's, we opened this year with 21% of new car registrations being EV's, I am expecting we finish the year with 30% of new car registrations being EV's and a total of about 25% averaged across the year. -

I bought a 4 month old Mercedes demonstrator from the main dealer and negotiated 20% off the new price, it had 1,600km on it. I wouldn't buy one new that's for sure. Nor would I buy one over 3 years od, they can be money pits. -

It's only a matter of time before the majority of owners will demand EV charging points and then the resolution will pass -

Yes, the figure I quoted is based a per thousand vehicle statistics, so it is adjusted for that already. Government data show gasoline vehicles are up to 100x more prone to fires than EVs | Electrek -

Not dangerous at all, the outlet in the car park will be rated at 16amps and your charger is probably rated at 10amps, it probably says on the back.
