  1. Rarely go to bars nowadays but if I do, I just say to lady would you like a drink or a 100 Baht to sit and talk to me for a while. Win, Win lady always says 100 baht. Two reasons for her money straight away and more money for her
  2. No doubt some on here will be disappointed that she wasn't British
  3. I never give a tip for bad food/service at restaurant. Why would you? By the way I had a business in the UK
  4. Personally speaking as a British, I firmly believe in that is where you are/were brought up in your own country has lot today with your attitude. People from major/inner cities are completely different to people brought up in rural communities (whichever country that is) JMHO
  5. I only have a problem with people from a certain country (European) and it certainly is not the British
  6. If the service is good, I tip. With the cashless society on the horizon, tipping could well become the thing of the past
  7. In my honest opinion it is just a shifting of wealth. I suggested this on a forum in my local paper in the UK. I was ridiculed for this
  8. It is the same in the city I live which is also non touristy. Majority of people who live in Phuket/Pattaya only know about life there. If people want to know about real Thai life then you will not find it in those places
  9. Many places. Lotus, 7-11, Big C, Global. I have been chatted up by girls in all these
  10. Thought that would be pretty obvious? Water is the answer and when I was in a top private Bangkok Hospital the surgeon/doctor confirmed this
  11. When I mixed Thai and English in one sentence it used to send my wife crazy, hence we are longer together so I suppose that was a good thing😄😄
  12. Depends where you live. Tourist destinations no. In normal towns and villages yes. 3/4 years ago I was having a drink at a beach bar in Phuket and struck up a conversation with a waiter and waitress and they were amazed I could speak Thai, we were laughing and joking and the tourists were staring, probably they were also amazed
  13. My friend was there 4 months ago, he said Philippines has gone backwards since last he was there. Probably not recovered from Covid as yet
  14. Same in Loei on Thursday, roofs blown off houses

    Allergies

What I am about to say may make you laugh. I went to the doctor because I had a pain all down my left hand side and irritation of the eyes. After a few tests it appears I had an allergy to rain which disturbs the pollen. A dose of tablets did the trick never have had it again
  16. You can please some people some of the time but not all people all of the time
  17. Songkran is everywhere in Thailand. Pattaya is probably the most craziest, in my city where it is not touristy they do not have water guns and normally only lasts 3 days
  18. Had both my eyes done two years ago (one week apart). Surgeon told me different quality of lenses, hence different prices, go for standard lens, you may still need reading glasses with bifocals 1) Painless 2) Drops in eyes, every 10-15 mins for one hour before op 3) Shield on eye for 24 hours post surgery. On eye at night time for one month 4) Drops in eye post surgery through out the day for one month 5) After one month can do everything just as before Hope that helps
  19. Probably just two more foreigners leaving their brains at their country of origin
  20. I think it goes both ways, men are also fed up of women taking them for mugs, working their guts out in a job they do not want to do but they do it for the family and low and behold she runs off with someone else!! (her boss/younger model/richer) JMO
