  1. You said it yourself. All the way to the Russian border. Not actually invading across that border as Putin did. ‘EUSSR’ was a boy of a tell, you should work on that.
  2. It’s for you produce the links. I look forward to reading them. If anyone is going to die of the cold this winter they need to get a move on, it’s late February already.
  3. Negating the Russian asset will improve matters. Cheaters? https://www.wilsoncenter.org/blog-post/nato-article-5-and-911#:~:text=NATO's Article 5 has been, president to complain about NATO.
  4. What’s this ‘we, you and your’ nonsense? Oh and of course more ‘socialists’. Do you have that on a shortcut key?
  5. Macron rolled right over Trump. ‘Compensation, not by Ukraine, by Russia, the aggressor’. Perfect. And moreover directly challenging Trump’s parroting of Russian demands.
  6. I don’t think Americans are in any position to lecture the British on the matter of killing each other.
  7. This from the CBI: “Think going green is just a nice idea? Think again. The net zero economy has become a powerhouse of job creation and economic expansion with 10.1% growth in the total economic value supported by the net zero economy since 2023. In 2024, there were 22,800 net zero businesses, with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) making up 94% of the sector. Together, these businesses have pumped £28.8 billion into the economy - 0.82 billion less than the entire size of Wales's economy. They also support 273,000 full-time jobs, outpacing employment in the telecommunications industry.” https://www.cbi.org.uk/articles/growth-and-innovation-in-the-uk-s-net-zero-economy/
  8. A pragmatic response to Trump undermining the NATO alliance.
  9. It’s fortunate that the UK can procure excellent military hardware and systems from its own defense industry and that of other European nations. No need to spend any increase in defense budgets with a U.S. threatening trade wars against the UK while sucking up to a tyrant aggressor on Europe’s borders.
  10. Starmer is hardly echoing Trump. He’s making the obvious observation that the UK needs to accept the U.S. is no longer a reliable defense partner and act accordingly. Macron and Merz have drawn the same conclusion.
  11. Are still sticking to your statement that the January 2025 inflation number was too high?
  12. The kind of free publicity book publishers dream of.
  13. I’m not sure how that relates to my post you responded to or indeed the subject of the thread.
  14. Trump? I haven’t mentioned him in this thread. Maybe you imagined I had.
  15. You imagine I have heroes and then imagine they are on the list.
  16. I’m alright with the topic of discussion.
  17. I support Israel’s right to defend itself and I support Israel’s right to bring the Oct 7 terrorists (Hamas) and those who planned and ordered heinous terrorist attack (Hamas) to Justice which includes killing them (Hamas) However, my support for Israel in the above does not extend to Israel doing anything it chooses to further those legitimate ends. I believe I have in the past made those views clear.
  18. No not a disclaimer. As I pointed out in my post you have replied to, “It’s a clear statement that I and many critics of Israel’s war on Gaza have frequently made, so not at all contentious.” Those looking to take offense might have missed that. I don’t need a disclaimer’ I have frequently referred to Hamas as a heinous terrorist organization and their attack of October 7 as an unequivocally a heinous terrorist act that has and has absolutely no justification. That is my view.
  19. I’ve provided a link that includes very good arguments for the use of these powers. Refer testimonies included. What you fail to grasp is there has never been an absolute right to privacy, technology providing inscription is a new challenge to legitimate investigation, it is providing a privacy that never existed and it is being abused by criminals.
  20. The authoritarianism was written into the 2016 legislation and was opposed by civil liberties groups, lead by Liberty. I’m sure you backed Liberty on this at the time. The 2023 Independent Review had this to say: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/independent-review-of-the-investigatory-powers-act-2016--2/independent-review-of-the-investigatory-powers-act-2016-accessible
  21. That’s fine. But let them explain themselves out in the open.
  22. The notice was served on Apple under The Investigatory Powers Act 2016.
  23. Perhaps we need a standardized statement unequivocally condemning Hamas as a heinous terrorist organization and the attack by Hamas on innocent Jews and others in Israel as the heinous terrorist act that it was. It’s a clear statement that I and many critics of Israel’s war on Gaza have frequently made, so not at all contentious. We might then append that statement to any and all criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza or any statement on the rights of Palestinians. We could even have law requiring the statement to always be included when discussing anything about the plight of Palestinians or the conduct of the war in Gaza.
