Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?
Chomper Higgot replied to Scott's topic in World News
Did you miss math class when you were in school? COVID + WAR + BREXIT = Outcome A COVID + WAR + 0 = Outcome B Now rattle the old grey cells and see if you can spot which outcome will be more severe? -
This is the worse than it seems. Not only has this Tory Peer pocketed £29,000,000 in profits paid offshore, but the profits arise from the delivery of PPE that was not fit for purpose, the actual bill to tax payers was hundreds of millions of pounds, with nothing useful obtained in return. And it gets worse. These hundreds of millions wasted on PPE supplied by a chum of Gove on Government orders was marked down as ‘NHS Budget’. Tory sleaze, lies and the Tory Chumocracy in full flow, while medical staff were getting sick and dying through a lack of suitable PPE.

UK faces biggest fall in living standards on record
Chomper Higgot replied to Scott's topic in World News
The reason I respond by pointing out your gross unsubstantiated pejorative generalized views of the UK’s poor (those you refer to as the lower classes’) is because your comments are indeed, gross, unsubstantiated, pejorative, generalizations. But you are correct, there is lots of information available from reliable sources online. I suggest you take a look at the following: https://www.jrf.org.uk/report/uk-poverty-2022 https://www.jrf.org.uk/our-work/this-is-poverty Make an effort to understand the issues rather than trotting out the pre-canned views you’ve been fed. -
UK faces biggest fall in living standards on record

What’s missing is your evidence that the reason why people can’t afford to pay their bills or eat regular meals is they are spending their money as you claim or not working overtime/second jobs. You’ve simply made a gross and baseless generalization and followed that with reference to ‘lower classes’. Meanwhile you insist I don’t know you, which is correct, I don’t. I therefore do not make gross generalizations about English Teachers in Thailand and apply those to you. If I did you’d be perfectly entitled to be offended and/or call me out for making baseless generalizations. -
A wave of Strike Action hits across the UK

The 111 service is there to do what it says on the tin, reduce visits to hospital A&E. People are going directly to A&E because they can’t get a GP appointment. Government’s target for GP appointments is 2 weeks, it was 2 days when they came into office. Access to GPs has collapsed after 12 years of Tory mismanagement and voters have taken note. -

“ The same people you talk about probably spend a few hundred pounds a month on cigarettes, dope, booze, and take aways. Not to mention, their annual holiday to Spain for the whole family for two weeks that costs a few grand,” All baseless assumptions you need to dream up in order to make the rest of your views on the matter fit. -

The lying lips you need to concern yourself with are those of Braverman and the other members of the Government who have once again failed to deliver on an election promise. -

He also said: "But we must adjust to a different reality and are therefore exiting the UK market from a value-added perspective. This is a difficult decision, but I believe it is the right one. We are committed to our main stakeholders and maintain our commitment to run a profitable business within the European value-added seafood industry." So all the COVID/Ukrainian war issues seem not to impact business in Europe but are an insurance in the UK. There is an irony in ‘Kippers’ voting for the route of the British fishing industry. -

No ’sunny uplands’ for the UK’s fishing industry I see: "We came out of the EU we had three vessels operating in the distant waters and by the end of this year will we now be down to one," https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-humber-63676965 https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/grimsby-news/landmark-grimsby-seafood-factory-closing-7838339 -

What woke nonsense? And how does it relate to the strikes that are the subject of this thread? -

Incorrect, the options you outline are all results of the collapse of as needed patient appointments with GPS. All cost considerably more to run than a GP appointment and the outcome is the patient will eventually be referred back to their GP we’re they should have been in the first place. -

That’s back when the wait time for a GP appointment was 2 days or less, it’s now 2 weeks or more and getting worse. -

Australia survives on selling its natural resources, mostly with very little added value.
