Let’s flip that. What could Russia do to the UK? Hence the UK is better off in NATO. -
Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?

Obesity is a relatively recent societal wide problem and can be tracked against the spread of fast foods and processed foods. First appearing in the US , and then arriving in the UK. You may recall the comments about ‘fat Americans’ being common place before nationwide obesity arrived in the UK. If you’ve been coming to Thailand long enough you’ll recall a time when an obese Thai person was a rare sight, not so these days. The global experience is the arrival of fast foods and processed foods gives rise to obesity. The marketing of these foods is directed at deprived communities, refer links I provided earlier. And the marketing works. Open fast food outlets in a community, market fast food to that community and obesity will follow. It’s the same the world over. ——- Addressing the pint ‘Healthy Food can be bought for the same price or cheaper than fast/process foods’. Yes it can. But people who are poor choose high calorie, instantly satisfying food because that’s the way human beings have evolved. When money is short, (evolution wise food is in short supply) choose high calorie foods first. We are all hardwired that way. -

All examples of processed highcalorie, high glycemic index, high sugar foods marketed to the poor. So no, not wrong. Wrong. Poverty reduces choice and the high calorie, high glycemic index, high sugar foods are cheaper, hence the choice available to people on low incomes. Hence “The impact of deprivation on obesity rates is deeply concerning, with adults in the most deprived regions having almost double the prevalence of obesity compared with the least deprived (36% compared with 20%). The effect of deprivation upon childhood obesity is even more alarming. In 2018/19, the prevalence of obesity in children aged 10–11 was 27% in the most deprived areas and 13% in the least deprived areas. The gap in obesity prevalence between children from the most deprived and least deprived areas is stark and growing, with an increase from 8.5% in 2006/7 to 13.9% in 2018/19.” https://www.rcplondon.ac.uk/news/health-inequalities-and-obesity -

What on earth does ‘a decent working week’ mean? Meanwhile: Those that hold Government to critical account are exercising their democratic rights to do so. -
UK Record net migration figure of over 500,000
Chomper Higgot replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I wonder where the Government think their overt anti-immigrant rhetoric is going to lead to? While Braverman and Patel have been at the forefront of this rhetoric, the Government have stood on a platform of ‘controlling our boarders’. The problem is, the Government has failed to ‘control our borders’. The bigger problem is, the voting public have noticed the Government has failed to ‘control our borders’. So the question arises, how does the Government, and Tory Party, think they will benefit from the anti-immigrant rhetoric? -

Legutko, another far right talking head. On the upside, he has absolutely nothing to say on why the UK is struggling more than countries. -

How funny is that. Fat people to laugh at. Better still, most the fat people are poor, eating the cheapest food available which is always processed, high carb, high sugar, high glycemic index food, on special offer, churned out by the processed food industry and marketed to the poor. Have good laugh why don’t you?! -

All peachy then. Until you need a Dentist, a GP appointment, the Police to attend a crime in progress, care in old age, a job that pays a living wage, an affordable home. All peachy, and when it’s not there are food banks used by working people who can’t afford food. -

It’s a leak ( by definition anonymous), it was widely reported and Rees-Mogg among others took it seriously. If you don’t think it a matter of concern, don’t let it bother you. But take note ( or disregard if you wish) the criticisms of Brexit from business leaders, from former backers of Brexit, from the critical financial sector party and within the media are very steadily growing. Polls on public opinion are drifting against Brexit and towards re-joining the EU. The UK is in desperate need of economic growth and the Chancellor of the Exchequer has clearly stated ‘unfettered trade with the UK’s closest neighbours would be good for growth’. -

Rees-Mogg took it seriously. Now while I regard Rees-Mogg as an idiot, I do accept he’s nearer to what’s going on behind the scenes in Government than anyone on this forum: https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/1699166/brexit-news-eu-swiss-style-deal-trade-single-market -

I think some would, but I think many would not. Regardless, they have no say in the matter, they’ve handed power to the ERG and the ERG aren’t interested in anything short of zero connection to the EU.
