What insurance company issues a policy that covers compulsory hotel quarantine?
None as far as I can see but the Thai Gov should make it so that you are able to isolate in the hotel you are already in and the hotel charges you a discounted rate and another free PCR test on day 4. That would seem fair to me but hey we are dealing with 'politicians' here.

I arrived at BKK tonight. The process was similar to the COE system.
Not a big change from last time I arrived.
My taxi from the airport stopped at a hospital for my RT-PCR test (at 1 in the morning). I should have results by noon.
Chok dee, airport busy?

A little update.
I'm still unsure if any insurance at all will cover a negative tested, forcibly quarantined person.
Why isn't the TH gov. clear about this situation? It will be a <deleted>show once word gets out.
You followed all bureaucratic and draconian steps to meet all requirements of the Thailand pass, double vaxxed, tested negative twice but then by bad luck the passenger next to you tests positive. You then either forcibly follow a quarantine program in your hotel or hospitel for 14 days, ruining your holiday and costing you a lot of money, or standing ground and ending up in IDC immigration prison. ????
If I get to that point I will probably tell them where to go and then arrange a massive discount in the hotel I am in for the extra 4 nights and another free PCR test on day 4. I am taking 20 Lateral flow tests with me.

What if you test negative but someone seated next to you in the airplane or van to the hotel tested positive? Does AXA cover that as well? Because you will be quarantined...
As of yet no but I have just sent them another email and my partner is going to ring from Thailand tomorrow.
I would assume that you are not covered for that eventuality. All a bit of a cluster <deleted> really.
I reckon the Thai government should have just levied a fee with the Thailand pass which if you do test positive or are in close proximity to someone who tests positive, then you go to a special field hospital set up just for Thailand pass peeps and of course free of charge. Relying on Hospitals and insurance companies to 100% completely behave ethically is a long shot in Thailand. I am in no way saying every insurance company, hospital or Dr in Thailand is unethical but I am sure there are some.

If the certificate states it is a RT-PCR test it will be accepted.
For entry to Thailand the test result needs to be dated as issued 72 hours before your departure flight.
But some airlines want the test done within 72 hours.
Are you sure about that?
'Travellers are required to have negative RT-PCR test result tested within 72 hours before departure.'
It would appear that Thai nationals are actually required to have a PCR test. I have heard many complain that it was unfair that they didn't have to have a PCR test.

Couldn’t agree more , as a family of four the upfront costs have got horrendous and with the risk of confinement still there , we’ve cancelled.
for the cost of cpr tests and one night quarantine in bkk alone we can book a hotel for ten days skiing in Europe.
I am saddened to hear this but I completely agree with your decision. I hope you and your family have a great holiday wherever you decide to go ????

Hope the international press pick up on this story up. What they don't tell you will happen if you arrive in Bangkok and test positive!
Most people who are vaccinated will suffer bad flu symptoms for a couple of days if they get covid; they certainly don't need to go to hospital unless their health deteriorates.
It is true but not everyone is and would be as responsible as you would like them to be.
I think they should be concerned about new strains then old strains coming in. The old strains are already in Thailand so what difference does it make.

If you want to avoid testing positive then the only thing you can do is self-isolate at home for a period of time before you fly. I understand this is not possible for some as they are now not working from home.
As some have previously stated, there is no way in hell you are testing positive for covid from the airports, plane and immigration you have just been through. So every and any precaution you can take in the weeks leading up to your flight will help. I feel that the father probably caught covid from one of his children as is the current situation, at least in the UK.
I reckon the extended quarantine due to close proximity to someone who tested positive can be haggled.
Chok dee everyone ????

AXA seems to be a popular choice for insurance as it covers asymptomatic. Well I've just read every word of the policy fine print and as expected it definitely doesn't cover forced quarantine while testing negative.
What did shock me though is that you appear to only be able to make a claim after you have discharged from hospital. So if someones bill is 350,000 baht, they would have to pay it and hope for the best to reclaim as much as possible (as I'm sure they won't discharge you without payment)
Yea it is a scary thought but should also be looked at if you will indeed incur that much in costs. The minimum cost just for stay and observation could be as low as 30k. So you are looking at having to front 30k to 350 000k depending on your health, vaccine status and age.

Well done but I'm not sure that's 100% true. Could you have done it without reading this thread and similar ones? Genuine tourists won't even know this site exists and that's who the Thai authorities are targeting.
Personally yes, I applied before I read anything but I get what you are saying, many will find it bothersome but not impossible. It is not too dissimilar to a Visa application in terms of level of Admin. I have been pissing around with Thai Visas etc for nearly 20 years so yeah maybe more easier for me forsure.

Hello,
Did anyone have success contacting [email protected] for Thailand Pass support?
Emailed them and got nothing back. My wife's QR code hasn't been issued (7 business days as of today). Leaving on 11/19.

Not how it appears from a couple of mates. Travel dates 27th of this month and 1st of next month but both approved already.
and I got mine this morning at 3.40am, applied on 4th November and traveling early December. I think they have got their <deleted> together real quick. Well done to them I say, I just hope their isn't a data leak!

An update with regards to my Thailand pass application.
I just received approval and a QR code.
I applied on the 4th November evening and received the QR code this morning at 3.40am
I was using the NHS UK vaccine certificates and there individual QR codes which I did not crop.
I used an gmail account
I only submitted 1 application.
I used AXA Thailand pass sawadee insurance
As you can see with a little admin, patience and planning ahead, they seem to have everything in hand for you to apply and get your pass with little to no stress involved.
I hope this information helps and chok dee ????

I got AXA insurance as I saw, link below, on this website that AXA provided asymptomatic coverage. After hearing a few awful stories of people being taken away to hospital, I thought I should double check I was fully covered against all eventualities.
I have lined AXA regarding the asymptomatic coverage and will let you guys know the result.

Whatever your friend ends up doing, I think getting a medical note from a Dr that he indeed has cancer will go a long way in possibly helping him get out of the country without financial burden. If it is stage 3 then surely that is classed as an emergency and he needs to get back to straya for treatment forthwith. I am sure the straya embassy could help in ensuring that Immigration go easy on him. The key is having the proof that he indeed does have cancer so I would do that first, then contact his embassy and then they or he can arrange some sort of amnesty.
Chok dee to your friend, hope he is better soon.

Like the post from Crossy , but there are plenty of options , all with a price point . A grid tie inverter with limited feedback to grid( or none) and battery connection does exist , but many aren't cheap . I think 1 of the cheapest around is the Sorotec Revo 2 . This is very useful if you want the feed in grid and keep the battery as a backup in case of blackouts . For the same amount you can double out your system , 1 grid tie inverter , taking care of daily needs and putting in the grid , and a standard hybrid off grid which does take care when power is out . 3th and most expensive option , and most of the time the best option is having all that in 1 single box . Unfortunate they do not come cheap , there is no reason why they would be more expensive then the others , but since i do not make them , that's just the way it is . This 1 can do all , meaning grid tie if you want to , put in net what you want , and inject even from battery when your solar isn't enough.
Everything has got it's pricepoint , it all isn't extremely expensive , but neither is it cheap , and requires a initial investment . It will pay back itself after a while , but putting a system together needs planning , since you are looking at payback of at least several years (2.5 to ???? .
Really good advice so thank you very much for your taking the time. Everyone on this thread have really done a great job of explaining individual systems and issues.
I can definitely see it is expensive and without sounding too much of a snob, I would rather get European or Japanese tech and I presume that would cost even more! We have a few years until we start to build, so hopefully by that time things might have become slightly cheaper and streamlined.
Thanks again to all!

จุดชมวิวผามะนาว อำเภอกาบเชิง จังหวัดสุรินทร์
South Surin, view point looking over the border into the Bode.
Surin is an awesome place, love how the weather rolls in over the flats. Loads of temples, very chilled atmosphere, looking forward to hanging my last hat there one day. Aunties Palm oil farm, me on a rice field, me at that viewpoint, Surin train station in all her glory & of course, my favorite retard at Phanom Rung.

Like a sector of people outside 'true Thai" or something ?
Wow that's a big and quite complicated question.
Thai's are a mixture of Tai, Indic, Mon, Malay & Khmer. Tai's came to Thailand from southern China around 700AD. So to be honest the Issan folk were already here when the Tai's (Possibly could say the modern day Thai-Chinese but there have been many emigrations of Chinese over the centuries but the Tai's were definitely the first and are the same ethnic group as the Chinese who arrived in the 18th and 19th centruies) arrived. I would say the Indic, Mon, & Khmer were the founders and creators of modern day Thailand. The first true empire/ period was the Dvaravati period (400AD), which, was indianised. You can see an example of this in the Mon wheel of the Law or Dharmacakra which was the main Dvaravati symbol and is actually on the Indian flag today.
Not many people know this but the Khmer empire was actually initially a Hindu empire. I far prefer Khmer symbols and architecture, I love the laterite brick.
