  1. Sounds like the plane never got airborne. Probably a blessing in disguise.
  2. The guy was fleeing a 25 year sentence for crimes committed in the US. He has been in and out of Oregon jails going back to at least 2015. How he managed to get out of the US so easily is another matter altogether. At least he was caught. A true dirt bag. Just goes to show that Thailand will always a go-to destination when criminals are on the run.
  3. Huh? Kickstarted Thailand's tourism revival? By issuing EDs to Chinese? So are they Chinese tourist (kickstarting a tourism revival 🤣) by learning Muay Thai with EDs, or teaching candidates being trained to be sent abroad. This article (with no byline or source) is nonsense.
  4. The sketchy IOs and agents/visa mills will love this kind of ED visa promotion in the media... the EDs always been the go to visa for anyone who doesn't legitimately qualify for any other Thai visa. If you don't exit/reentry too frequently while on an ED, you can get away with years in country, and just keep renewing your ED.
  5. Stop it. You have never been so limited in your life choices to where you would have had to make anywhere near the difficult choices most prostitutes have had and do make. Your comments show a profound lack of compassion, empathy and sympathy. Whatever helps you sleep at night, sport'o. But what you abibe, is on you (#fact). And yes, YOU personally NEED more perspective, you need to see your mother, sister, daughter as a prostitute. And then, if you abide, than you are a failed excuse for a decent human being (and a typical whore mongering expat). Truth always hurts. That's your life, sobeit. Customers of prostitutes always lack the ability to see the real and ugly truths of the profession. But it's ok because you pay and they take your money. So that makes it fair and equitable in your small mind. Because hey, could be worse, and no one died, and everyone got what they expected... lol (#dolt)
  6. Low-life named Ali holding a US passport enters THA to commit crime... Enjoy your extended stay in THA Ali.
  7. Whataboutism will give you a headache in Thailand. Relax. Does one dumb Brit equal 10 rabid LBs... who knows, and IDK. Phuket is a chit hole anyway. Just be glad whenever Thai police arrest anyone who deserves it.
  8. Unless your card issuer is a Thai bank, and you use your Thai bank issued card overseas, this means nothing (to 90% of all card holders of Thai bank issued credit cards).
  9. Stay on topic. Can't solve all Thailand's issues with only one arrest.
  10. The vast majority of people, unless emotionally or psychologically damaged, don't "happily and willingly" choose a career as a sex worker (specifically, those that engage in the exchange of sexual services through direct physical contact), and just because they do it "for the money" or to "pay the bills" (which ostensibly means to survive their chosen lifestyle) doesn't make it any more emotionally healthy or desirable. I dare you to ask any of them, what they really really want, and I assure you (if they are being completely honest, and are not embarrassed -- which if you are a customer you will only get their lies), most will say "not this life." Your own generalizations only validate your opinions (and like so many others, it makes you feel better about yourself and what you abide, and that's on you). I've said it once and I will say it again... No decent human being who has ever had a daughter would ever want this life for their own daughter, so why would you want it for someone else's daughter. Please, have just a little empathy and compassion.
  11. I hope she had an ironclad will or doesn't have any competing heirs or greedy family. Money brings out the worst in people.
  12. I personally don't get the fascination with fireworks... always struck me as juvenile. Didn't even know a permit was required... at the rate fireworks seem to always be going off (all across Thailand), they must issue a lot of permits 😂
  13. Nothing good happens on that road at 530am when the LBs get spun up.
  14. It's certainly not coerced, in most cases. Everyone has choices. But in an environment where real, viable, long-term economic opportunities for mostly under educated women are limited, bad decisions often get made out of necessity. And often with familial pressure to support the extended family (not to be discounted). It's even sadder when you see these women then wasting their money on luxury goods (because that very same money could just as well be used as a way out, but that requires real discipline). But bad decisions often beget more bad decisions, and the beat goes on... But I'll say this in closing, no decent human being who has a daughter, would ever want such a life for their own daughter, so why would you want it for anyone's daughter.
  15. It's not a chain (in most cases), it's a funnel. Sure they can leave and work folding laundry for 300 baht a day. But they see how much money can be made doing something else (selling their bodies) and they enter into the sex worker employment funnel that feeds the economy. A funnel set up by the powers that be, by those that make even more money from the girl's service. But on large, you give women real opportunities and viable economic choices, and far far fewer are going to choose prostitution as a career.
  16. I'm not saying it's not a great way to make money in an economy that offers few opportunities for under educated women. But the ones that do it night in and night out, would rather not. The real sex workers. Not the periodic free lancers.
  17. You think it's about being lonely and wanting company? Stop it. It's about basic survival and making a living. It's always about the money. And if they could make as much money not selling their bodies they would.
  18. This is going to be Thailand's Achilles heel... The infrastructure here is already under significant stress... Fresh water rationing, unreliable and uneven energy delivery (see Koh Samui), increasing brown outs almost everywhere. And with over tourism continuing unabated, you can rest assured that it will be the fulltime residents and citizens who will be the most impacted (and sooner and more frequently then anyone wants to admit).
  19. Thailand has built up an entire industry around sex workers. It's the reason tourism is what it is today (otherwise tourist numbers wouldn't be anywhere near 30-40m per year). Is it good? Not really, not for the women that have no other choices or better opportunities. Few of them want to do it as a living, if at all (stop kidding yourselves). They'd do something else almost immediately, if they could make a living at it. They do it to survive. And that's an unfortunate predicament. But it is the world's oldest profession. And for a reason. Sex always sells. And the business leaders and government officials of Thailand are okay that THA has such a large per capita share of sex workers. In fact, they disrespect the sex workers when they pretend they don't have, want or need sex workers.
  20. I demand a recount 😄 250k does seem a bit low. But seeing as (per authorities) there is no prostitution in Pattaya, maybe 250k is fair (sarcasm)
  21. Very possible. These men (those that assault their women) typically choose women they can control, and who have their own set of unique emotional and psychology baggage. Wouldn't be surprised if she didn't press changes and he skates on simple destruction of property.
  22. Seems he tried cutting his wrist and then decided on hanging himself with his shoelaces. Where there is a will there is always a way. Neither the first nor the last foreigner to commit suicide in Thailand. RIP.
  23. American bodybuilder YouTuber assaults gf... In short, loser. Roid rage is real. Hope his GF has enough courage to safe herself before it's too late.
  24. He's been detained by police. End of story. If it looks like duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a F'ing duck.
