    While I'm not married, I've been with same lady 15 yrs, have a kid. 200K baht is a small amount of money. I paid that much almost for the house party we had. A live band on stage in the rice paddy. A truly epic affair. Lasted 3 days, one to set up, one for party and one for clean up. If resources are limited then why even think of marriage. If paying a bit of money is a challenge then stay single and enjoy the bar ladies.

    I find it funny that the ones who bash the USA won't identify their own home country. i understand that they're probably embarrassed.

    Since the USA is the greatest country in the world, I couldn't possibly be embarrassed. I would prefer the octogenarians consider retirement.

    I'll bet those of you who have daughters born in Thailand will have a different perspective on sinsod when it's time for their marriage. You might not but I seriously doubt the mothers will turn down a good pay day.

    I started SS with a US bank and around 2020 switched to Bangkok Bank deposits. I switched using my online SS account.

    In defense of pla ra, some of it is boiled first and not naturally allowed to ferment. I have since moved from Isaan and will only return for visits. Funny how most all Isaan food has that greenish color. Me, personally I don't think an outsider can learn to like it. I feel like this is something you learn very young.

    Wonder how many Viet Nam vets we have here. And if you were of age how did you avoid the draft. I joined the US Navy 1976 age 18. Guess the draft ended 1975 when the war ended.

    So, just used Pipeline to rent a car for one day in Calif. By using Thai DL price instead of my US DL was $30.00 cheaper. huh

    It would never enter my mind to return an item at 7-11. Garbage bags no less.

    I'm all about a good laugh. But seriously, I don't believe as a free American I need to explain myself. I spent over 20 yrs working overseas and it wasn't an issue, I paid all my US taxes same as if I lived there. Now the only thing which has changed is I no longer work, life goes on as before.
