The benefits of living alone as an older man

I know one, except AFAIK she would not know first aid. A retired nurse sounds like what you would want. -
Petrol Station Scam in Bang Rakam Caught on Video, Goes Viral
Lacessit replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
It's quite probable the rules were evolved in a time when there was more risk. For example, cars had generators, not alternators. It's a given attendants sometimes overfill vehicles. Most of the time, the vapor dissipates harmlessly. The culture here seems to be one of not following some rules. Which makes the sight of Thais dutifully wearing masks, on scooters without helmets, quite comical. It took me three months of nagging to persuade my GF to wear a helmet. Now she does it automatically. I am probably much more risk averse than you. That comes from working in a profession for many years, with chemicals that were so dangerous a single moment of carelessness could result in serious injury or death. I'm still here, i know several who are not. -
I am wondering if the ETA is required before boarding an aircraft to Thailand, or if it is a surprise sprung at Immigration. I was once in a situation at Madrid. I had been assured by the Spanish embassy in Canberra I did not need a visa, as I was only there for five days. On arrival, I spent an uncomfortable couple of hours in a small room with two members of the Gardia Civil, complete with sub-machine guns. When it comes to bureaucracy, I remember Einstein's remark about there being no limits to the Universe and human stupidity, except he was not sure about the Universe.

Petrol Station Scam in Bang Rakam Caught on Video, Goes Viral

The #1 rule in most Western countries at a fuel station is to switch off the engine. Rules are not conjured out of thin air, they are there for a reason. Risk management. While refuelling a car, gasoline vapours escape. They are heavier than air, and can travel considerable distances - more than 10 metres. Obviously, you live in a perfect world where no attendant overfills the tank of a car. I get it. You live in a country where people are stupid. They don't switch off their engines at petrol stations, or wear helmets when driving scooters. Therefore, that entitles you to be stupid too. -

Or perhaps you could grow a few brain cells, and comprehend your actions are placing yourself, your family, and others at risk. You can't bear to be without AC for the few minutes it takes to fill your car up? What kind of snowflake are you? -
Getting current medications prescriptions for travel
Lacessit replied to decline's topic in Health and Medicine
I can buy tramadol over the counter at a pharmacy in Chiang Rai. No prescription needed. I guess if I asked for a couple of month's supply, I would be refused. However, I am only buying one sheaf of ten tablets once every two months or so. -

The son of my former partner went through women like Kleenexes. Handsome, a narcissist, did the little boy lost routine. I remember him staying with us with a brand-new Canadian wife. The marriage lasted 4 weeks. -

Your prime risk is a hip fracture. The average life expectancy for someone over 70, who breaks a hip, is 6 months. -

YouTube. I don't use TikTok. Possibly I am pretending. IMO healthier than screwing up my liver, stomach, esophagus and kidneys daily with a Class 1 carcinogen. I've seen several people die here from alcohol in various ways. It's never pretty. -
BOMBSHELL: Taylor Swift comes out in support of Harris and Walz
Lacessit replied to Will B Good's topic in Political Soapbox
No surprise there, IIRC correctly Swift called Trump a sack of sh!t when he got in a huff about her crowd sizes. Apparently half of Swift fans are voting age, so our resident Trump troll is off the mark, as usual. https://www.forbes.com/sites/marisadellatto/2023/03/14/more-than-half-of-us-adults-say-theyre-taylor-swift-fans-survey-finds/ -

It may be pointless to you. Perhaps you can explain to me the point of getting p!ssed every day, starting early in the morning with wine coolers. -

I make YouTube videos. I edit collections of classical music, selecting and combining what I think are the best movements. I experiment with food combinations, and add to my autobiography ( 166,000 words ) occasionally. I suppose it depends on whether one thinks they still have something to contribute, or are content to wait for death. Here's a short example: CLASSICOMBO.mp4 -

If you have issues, here is not the place to get them sorted. Get professional help, I am not saying that as a put-down. I'd say I was brought up with love. However, my parents made it quite clear if I wanted something, I had to earn it for myself. An example of over-indulgence in my second long-term relationship was the son getting fined twice in the same day for speeding, about 25 km/hr over the limit. She paid the fines for him. -
Trump: ‘God Thinks I’m Here to Straighten Out Our Country’
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There are lot of things Trump says he doesn't actually believe in. The Bible, representing the poor, unions etc. OTOH, he does believe he is the smartest guy in the room. -

Each to his own. I ignore posters who attack me because they can't attack the facts and data I post. I also ignore the ones who demonstrate beyond doubt they are morons. -

I do it differently to the procedure you describe. On the top RHS is my user name. Clicking on that produces a dropdown menu with "Ignored Users" near the bottom. Clicking on that takes me to a field where I fill in the poster name, ignore posts, block messages etc. More than one way to skin a cat, apparently. IMO the ignore function would be improved by blocking ignored posters from adding emoticons to my posts. Or anyone else who puts another poster on ignore. There's a couple of sad sacks who stalk me that way. -

There is another scam at smaller outlets many people are not aware of. It involves adding water to fuels containing ethanol. Ethanol blends are actually a mix of hydrocarbon, ethanol and water. The industrial alcohol added is an azeotrope, 95% ethanol, 5% water. Adding water increases profit, as long as the single phase does not separate into two phases. -

Leaving an engine turned on while filling up is a safety risk. It means more of the electrical circuits in your car are active, Petrol fumes and a short anywhere are not a good combination. As our EV friends never tire of reminding us, an ICE fire is 60 times more likely to happen than in an EV. -
Another day of defending the indefensible. So pathetic.

I ignore him. Best thing to do is give him no oxygen whatsoever. -
The approval ratings for Harris are a bit more than her disapproval ratings. OTOH, the disapproval ratings for Trump are through the roof. Harris has policies. Trump has vague, rambling promises. Flip-flopping on abortion and immigration. As phony as a three dollar bill. So the solution is to try to drag Harris down to Trump's level, a campaign based on hate. Thanks for the contribution.
