Realistically speaking, do you think Trump will last till November?
Lacessit replied to watthong's topic in Political Soapbox
Strong data from 2019? Yes, unemployment was quite strong at 6.4%. Harris has been on an upward trajectory since 2003, I sense the racist card in play again. OTOH, after 2015 Trump has been a loser in everything. -
AFAIK Israel is not committed to the destruction of any of its neighbors, only the terrorists they house. Hamas, al Fatah, Hezbollah etc. They are not using the nukes they have. OTOH, Iran has repeatedly said it is committed to the destruction of the state of Israel. What will stop the religious leaders of Iran from using nukes if they get them? Perhaps you have not absorbed the radical idea less nukes is better than more of them.

I guess being positive about a felon, molester, rapist and fraudster must require a great deal of positivity.- 905 replies

I agree. Not something I experienced from my father. Educating kids money must be earned is a better way to me. I bought my first bicycle with money I made from collecting scrap metal, and my first set of golf clubs from caddying. How many spoiled rich kids are around nowadays?

Can you honestly say those changes are for the better?

I guess the expression "living rent free in your head" was brought in after the one starting with a T and ending with a S got banned. Perhaps you missed the fact Fox settled out of court with Dominion for $767 million rather than have the case for defamation tried. -
Human-Induced Climate Change Creates Olympic "Heat Dome" Crisis
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Warming occurs when the earth re-radiates sunlight it has absorbed as infra-red radiation. Nitrogen and oxygen do not absorb infra-red, carbon dioxide and methane do. It's a fact carbon dioxide levels were 300 ppm prior to the Industrial Revolution, are now at about 440 ppm, and still rising, due to mankind's use of fossil fuels. It doesn't take much of a change in carbon dioxide to generate more heat, just like salt on your food can change it from tasty to unpalatable if you have too much. -
Which is better, teaching a kid to value the money they earn, or having them regard it as an entitlement? Most successful people I know went out and earned their wealth, they certainly did not wait for someone to hand it to them.
-
Agree. Chores around the house. Gardening, washing up, cleaning. It teaches them to value the money they earn, and not waste it.
-
We'll have to agree to disagree, then. So what will you do if the Biden administration starts spending money on infrastructure, driving down the jobless figure between now and November? IIRC it's what Trump tried to do in 2019 with military spending. Rather strange for someone who says he wants no wars.

Statistics are not theories. They are facts. You are probably too young to understand how the Japanese overwhelmed the American car industry in the 70's and 80's with superior quality vehicles at lower cost. That change was catalyzed by a single statistician, W. Edwards Deming. Ironically, he was American.
-
Statisticians are the heartbeat of most enterprises. Insurance, consumer goods, you name it. Without them, the wheels would be falling off everywhere. I am not one myself, but I have had extensive training in the field. OTOH, economics is known as the dismal science for a reason. Economists all point in different directions. Consensus is as rare as a unicorn.

Trump seems to draw his energy from the crowds at his rallies. IIRC Dr Samuel Johnson said: "Depend upon it, Sir, when a man knows he is to be hanged in a fortnight, it concentrates his mind wonderfully" Trump knows if he does not win in November, he is going to jail. I'd say that keeps him focused.- 905 replies

Yes, fluid is spelled correctly. "certainly" is not. Perhaps you don't understand what syntax is. "the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language". Calling me a know-it-all is ad hominem argument, and underlines your sniping credentials.

It's called making inferences from what you post. You seem to be comfortable with Iran having nuclear-tipped missiles. IIRC Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in 1994 in exchange for guarantees of national sovereignty. Russia can hardly complain if it was brought back, although I seriously doubt that would happen.
