Gloss paints come in both acrylic and alkyd formulations. If the builders were using water to clean up their brushes, they were using acrylics.

Kissing is not part of Thai culture, and even less so with tongue kissing.

Why do people want to live in Isaan?

I wonder about his waistline, if that's all he eats. -
Is the topcoat an acrylic, or an alkyd? If it is an acrylic, the paint will be falling off in a few months. Rust bleeding through after the next rain.

The Expat Paradox: An Appraisal of Westerners in Thailand
Lacessit replied to kwilco's topic in General Topics
I enjoy life here. I have learned the language. My living costs are about one-third of Australia's. I don't care what the OP thinks of me. IMO he/she/it is a wowser. -

To think like the OP, I would need a prefrontal lobotomy. I'm sure Buriram, Khon Kaen and Udon Thani have interesting places to live, I prefer Chiang Rai. -
Canada used to be dependent on the US to sell its energy - gas, oil and hydropower. Thanks to a 570 km pipeline, financed mainly by Asian interests, it is starting bulk exports of LNG to Asia. Delivery is 10 days, instead of the 20 days from the Middle East and Australia. Oil is probably next. At the same time, America has put a 10% tariff on Canadian gas and oil. It gets 50% of its energy requirements from Canada. Anyone who thinks this tariff will be good for the American economy is delusional. The wound is self-inflicted.

Report Race Against Time: Bangkok May Be Below Sea Level by 2030
Lacessit replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
AI says differently: Bangkok is generally very low-lying. Its average elevation is around 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) above sea level. However, some areas of the city are actually 1 meter (3.3 feet) below sea level due to subsidence caused by factors like groundwater extraction. -

No you have not. You are breathing in oxygen, and exhaling carbon dioxide. I was one of the first people in Australia to have solar panels on my roof, feeding back into the grid. That was 30 years ago. The sea level rise is not uniform, it is governed by the topography of the coastline. Anyone who has lived in north-western Australia, with 10 metre tides, knows that. -

The super rich can afford sea walls. The ordinary Joe can't. Have you checked out property insurance for beachfront homes lately. Can't see banks taking any risks? Were you in a cave during the GFC? I'm reminded of Alan Bond. He said if you owe a bank $1 million, you've got a problem. If you owe $100 million, the bank's got the problem. -
Politics Thai Poll Reveals Over 80% Want Suspended PM to Step Down

If you polled the north of the country, odds are pretty good they would be supporting the Shinawatras, and want to nuke the Bangkok elites. -

To me, the real lunatics are those Americans who think tariffs are paid by countries exporting goods and services to the USA. Or that buy gold sneakers and Bibles made in China.

USA CNN Analyst: Climate Fear Stagnant for Decades Despite Alarming Events
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
WE are. Carbon dioxide levels have been stable at 280 ppm for 10,000 years. They started rising with the Industrial Revolution, and currently are 428 ppm. Ice core data shows for the past 800,000 years, CO2 levels have been around 180 ppm during ice ages, rising to 300 ppm during warmer interglacial periods. Yes, climate change is a natural phenomenon. So is CO2 trapping of infra-red radiation. Every coal-burning power station or gasoline/diesel - fueled vehicle on the planet contributes CO2 to the atmosphere. Mankind did not have electricity or powered transport 300 years ago. Cryptocurrencies and AI are comparatively recent, and they are gluttons for electricity. -
I alternate between Codiphen and Amitryptiline for a good night's sleep. IMO it's important not to stress too much about not sleeping well every night, and to avoid overdoing the medication aids. I would average meds 2-3 times a week.

That was 56 years ago. The German Enigma machine of WWII was the most advanced cryptography in the world 85 years ago, until Turing cracked it at Bletchley Park. Past glories are no indicator of current technological prowess.

Ian Plimer is a geologist who has worked for a number of mining companies, who have a vested interest in preventing any carbon trading scheme. He has also claimed CO2 emissions are the result of volcanic eruptions, when anthropomorphic emissions are about 130 times that of said eruptions. He has as much credibility as the scientists and medicos working for the tobacco industry. Carbon dioxide absorbs infra-red radiation from the earth, at 4.3 and 15 micrometers. It's the same mechanism as a blanket on the body, trapping heat which would otherwise escape into space. Please post your explanation of how rising temperatures cause an increase in CO2 emissions. It's like saying pregnancy precedes sex. -

True. However, this current variation is a direct result of anthropomorphic emissions of carbon dioxide. We are the first species on Earth who has actually changed the climate. Put another way, we are sh!tting in our own nest. -

The ozone layer was repaired by the Montreal Protocol, which shows what can happen when nations co-operate with a common goal. Anyone with an understanding of thermodynamics knows sea levels will rise, and storms will get worse. About 1% of the population, the other 99% would not know entropy or enthalpy if it bit them on their @rse. Insurance companies know what is coming, which is why premiums of property insurance for vulnerable areas are going through the roof.
