  1. Our bodies were initially trained to consume meat, as hunter-gatherers.. When mankind established agriculture was when obesity began, as carbohydrate became a major part of the human diet. Pasta is carbohydrate. Carbohydrate in the stomach is hydrolysed to sugars. Put refined sugars on top of that, it's the perfect recipe for obesity. IME fat consumption has nothing to do with body weight. I went from 93 kg to 78 kg on a diet of protein and low carb vegetables. During that time, I was eating lashings of cheese, which is 35-40% fat.
  2. Asked and answered by other posters. Insane people who commit crimes don't get to walk out of court. They may be sentenced to be held in alternative institutions, such as mental asylums. The USA is looking more and more like one of those every day.
  3. He is mentally impaired, his speeches are rambling non-sequiturs and tangents. A policy vacuum. I am wondering what trumpers will do if he has apoplexy between now and November 5, which is looking increasingly likely. He's getting worse every time he steps onto a podium.
  4. BS. Biden's State of the Union address was an articulate presentation, Trump is the one with dementia. Talking about languages from other planets, what the hell is that?
  5. Tar and feather me, run me out of town on a rail. If you wanted your thread to have comment from Pattaya denizens only, you should have stated that in your OP. Thin-skinned much?
  6. Your wife is not much better off eating the meal you cooked for her. Potato and carrots are both high carb foods. pumpkin is low carb. Best way to lose weight is protein ( meat, fish, eggs ) plus low carb vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and green beans. For fruit, strawberries and blueberries.
  7. Do you have any scientific proof of that statement, apart from your own assertion? I have already posted the solubilities of sugar in ethanol and water. Both are found in petrol. That data says you are wrong, your statements say you are too stubborn to admit it.
  8. Poor Trumpers. It must be infuriating for them to watch Biden deliver a cogent and policy-rich speech, while Trump rails against a legal world which is closing in on him, and fluffs his lines. IMO the stress of the financial penalties already adjudged, and looming criminal trials, is getting to Trump. Chronically high levels of the stress hormone cortisol can harm brain function and memory. Stress can contribute to health conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes, which are also risk factors for dementia. Stress can worsen symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are also linked to an increased risk of dementia. There's a possibility Trump won't even make it to November 5. I'm wondering who the Trumpers would turn to then.
  9. Yes , it is nice having money. IMO I have more of it because I shop around for good value.
  10. Sugar sitting in a sock or fuel filter will be dissolved gradually by the petrol washing through, irrespective of its composition. You obviously don't want to recognize facts. If you think it's an urban myth, why don't you put some in your own car?
  11. Sugar is soluble in ethanol, 0.9 gm/ 100 mL. Ethanol is present in most petrol brands. It is also highly soluble in the trace amounts of water present in straight hydrocarbon fuels. 200 gm/100 mL. Science is obviously not a strong point of yours.
  12. I have not lost $100 yet. I have evidence from Google reviews of the business their cybersecurity is non-existent. True, anyone could put anything in a fuel tank. Rental businesses keep records of who rented their cars, perhaps that point escapes your notice.
  13. Chubb is not going to be posting the $91 million bond out of the goodness of their hearts. They know they have Trump by the balls. My guess is the daily interest rate on the bond would be eye-watering.
  14. I monitor my own BP, pulse and oxygen levels. Blood testing at Mengrai Labs for a pretty full suite is 1100 baht. The other tests such as bone scan and stress I would get done in Australia, where it is free with private health cover. Given his political affiliations, I am wondering if the OP would cough up the same amount of money for a mental health check.
  15. IMO Biden was articulate, and outlined his policy goals clearly. Much more impressive than Trump's rantings, if anyone has dementia it is him. Of course, I could never convince a Trump supporter, I am not even going to try.
  16. Occasionally, I get Thais who are locked into a system which makes them immovable. I recently needed to plan a course of medication. I was a fortnight short on one. I do the rounds of pharmacies in Chiang Rai. Everyone says they are out of stock. I go to a private hospital. I have to see a doctor first before I can be prescribed the medication. Therefore, I have to spend 400 baht on the consultation before I can obtain 50 baht's worth of pills I could get over the counter anywhere else. For all I know, they are out of stock too. I walked out. Problem was solved by getting a friend in Chiang Mai to purchase it over the counter there, then post it to me. IMO if Peera Pharmacy in CM does not have it, nobody does. I think I am usually very positive about my life in Thailand. However, I do sometimes have to shake my head.
  17. I took you off ignore to see what you were saying. A series of troll posts from someone who is unusually determined to provoke, back you go.
  18. It's not a difficult choice between living in a tent city or car in the US, or living comfortably in Thailand.
  19. The electronics in an EV are far more complex than in an ICE, they have the job of controlling a lot of stored energy in KWh. From what I gather, the reliability issues in Teslas are mainly down to electronics. Maybe Crossy will be along to share his viewpoint on the skills of Thai electricians.
  20. Absolute BS. If we had an open market in Australia, we would be able to buy low km secondhand cars from Japan, just like the Kiwis and Burmese do. The car lobby in Australia blocks this, in the name of protecting new car sales. Helloo. We have not had car manufacturing in Australia since 2018.
  21. The website wants me to fill out my personal information first. I cannot see anywhere that it quotes tariffs. Given it is displaying brands such as a Citroen DS3 and a Ford Ka, no thanks.
  22. How many places in America would you like me to have been before I am qualified to form an opinion?
  23. IIRC, 30 years ago. If the BLM movement is any guide, IMO things have not changed much.
  24. It will take about two weeks to dispute the charges through Visa as fraudulent, and I don't know if the dispute will be successfully resolved in my favor. I am not interested in becoming some kind of security expert, watching a transaction like a hawk. Especially not with a company who has already caused me to cancel a card. IMO only a complete idiot would want a repeat performance. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
  25. My first attempt was with a business close to the airport, that hired out on a day rate. The second prospect is a business much closer to my son's home. The minimum hire is 30 days. You have a suspicious mind.
