It sounds to me like there are different rules applying in the various government hospitals. Or perhaps they have changed since I got COVID last October. I was placed into quarantine for 14 days in Phan provincial hospital. All the medications, including antivirals, were free. The 14 days in the quarantine ward, including food, was free as well. I even got extra meds to take home with me, we were asked to isolate for 6 days after discharge. I don't know if Thainess has anything to do with what happened to the OP.

6 months to live what would you do?
Lacessit replied to Sparktrader's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I have never been a couch potato. I have always exercised, but have amped up somewhat since 2021. Never dieted prior to 2022, ate everything. Exercise - stretching and mild cardio (Youtube ) in the morning, climb 12 flights of stairs. Swimming before lunch, golf 2-3 times a week. Afternoon 15 minutes of cardio ( again Youtube ) with 1.5 kg dumbbells. Diet- No packaged food. No snacks. One slice of whole grain bread for breakfast, two poached eggs, fruit and plain yoghurt. Limit sugar as much as possible. Can't avoid it in fruit. Gave up orange juice, cakes and ice-cream. Absolutely no beer, a couple of Sangsom rums once a week. Two coffees a day. I have two small squares of Lindt 99% cocoa chocolate a day. No potato, carrot, rice, noodles or pasta. Cucumber, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, bamboo and beans are all good. Olives, macadamias, avocado and mushrooms ditto. My general rule is most things growing above ground are good for me, anything below ground is not. Modest daily protein intake, 200 grams of any meat or fish I want. I eat as much Brie, Camembert, vintage cheddar and cottage cheese as I want. The diet principle is training my body to burn fat instead of sugar. It's not a full keto diet, more reduced carbohydrate. Apart from weight loss, my waist size has gone from 40 cm to 37 cm. I can now afford to break the diet twice a week with fish and chips, or bangers and mash. -
There are no explicit prohibitions of a woman's ability to abort under Islamic law, although various sects are either permissive or forbid it. It seems Judaism and Christianity are the principal opponents. Personally, I believe it is the woman's decision, which is usually based on the unwillingness to bring up a child in poverty, and men should stay the hell out of it.

Transferring money into Thailand
Lacessit replied to Jaunty's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Just operate within the limits WISE sets, i.e. transfer 2 million baht every day until target is reached. Note: WISE wants your sending bank account name to match with your full passport name. If not, there are other hurdles. -
I will not attempt to educate you on the glories of the greatest game ever invented, except to say 95% of golfers play it badly. The handicap system was designed to provide a level playing field for all levels of ability and age. Reading your babblings on the topic of golf is like listening to a prepubescent child expounding on the sensations experienced during the female orgasm.

Unzed is the Aussie term for New Zealand. I have always known I was different, and I am thankful for that. How many people live all their lives in dull mediocrity is beyond my comprehension. You should take comfort from Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics, I am not Locutus of Borg. I wonder about you too. However, I am not tempted to try my hand at amateur psychoanalysis.

I don't blindly accept the statements of anyone on social media. In Dr. Berry's defense, I will say he usually cites the research to support his opinions, with links to it. Everyone's physiology is different. My own regimen of diet and exercise is based on a lot of research, cherry-picking what I thought made sense. The results speak for themselves. I have been on medications for osteoarthritis, gastric reflux, depression, high blood pressure, night cramps and gall bladder pain, some for many years. Today, I need none of them. In addition, I have been borderline diabetic with a overweight BMI and reduced kidney function. I am now back to normal blood sugar levels, have a normal BMI, and my kidney parameter has improved by 20%. Part of the kidney improvement I attribute to not taking up to 750 mg of medications daily, I now only take 5 mg of medication for BPH. It makes sense the load my kidneys have to deal with is now much less. -
Forgot sai ua, northern Thai spicy sausage. I put it in a blender with cooked broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and beans to produce a tasty diet soup, similar to a mulligatawny.

Having visited Glasgow once, I found the accent to be barely comprehensible. I prefer the unzed and South African accents more amusing, due to the comic use of interchangeable vowels. The OP should acquire " Let's Talk Strine" by Professor Afferbeck Lauder, to familiarize himself with the Aussie version. Personally, I prefer Charles Kingsley's "The Water Babies" . "Snugglepot and Cuddlepie" is probably too racist for today.

Fact: 53% of elderly patients worldwide die of acute kidney failure. Fact: Almost every medication prescribed by doctors is harmful to the kidneys. I've found this guy is worth listening to: -
When I was a kid in Australia, chicken was a luxury we had about once a month. The staple meat was lamb chops, roast leg of lamb, mutton stew. Now, chicken is as common as dog turds on a soi, and lamb of any description is as dear as poison. What happened?

Valid point. I have found most medications prescribed for me by the medical profession are unnecessary and harmful. -
It's interesting both Russia and China have ageing populations, People above 60 in China are forecast to be 30% of the total population by 2050. The situation is even worse in Russia, where women are much more numerous than men, and there are far less young people coming up. I'd disagree there are fewer people dying in war, the butcher's bill in Ukraine must be quite high, although getting an accurate estimate is well nigh impossible.

Maybe I am antisocial, but I completely fail to see the utility of Facebook and Twitter. I have used LinkedIn on limited occasions, with very little personal information about myself in my profile. Every time I get a "survey" from one of the companies I deal with, I delete it. If you want me to participate, pay me for my time.

1/ Pad Thai Goong. IMO the quintessential Thai dish. I have it without the chopped peanuts and sugar. A small addition of chili. 2/ Pad Siew Gai. I add the chili myself. I like the long flat noodles, although without excessive oil. 3/ Mussuman curry. Bonus - whole baked fish with garlic.

IMO Thailand is one of the better places to be. It's not hard to live well here. I keep a low profile. I am aware everybody lies here, or tells me what they think I want to hear. I never disclose any financial information, except to Immigration on extension day. I've been on the planet for Stalin's death, the Suez crisis, Kennedy's assassination, the Six Day War, the Cold War, 9/11, the GFC and COVID. To me, the Ukraine War is just another crisis which will be resolved one way or another. I can't do anything about it except call out Russian trolls on ASEAN. Why worry about something over which I have no control? The world will go on, with or without me. That's what will happen.

Australian Dollar is collapsing
Lacessit replied to Adumbration's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I've never seen any indication from the ATO they prefer to have people tax resident, do you have a link to support your statement? I have a Centrelink pension and a quite modest investment income. They get zero from me as a tax resident, due to franking credits, and SATO. Neither of which apply when taxing someone as non-resident, where they take 32.5% of ALL income. -

AFAIK you have to only pass one. Having said that, I understand there is legislation impending that will have only the 183 rule as the determining factor. I suspect, like myself, it is unlikely you will be asking the ATO for their opinion. Back on topic, 24.17 baht. Collapsing upwards, apparently. -
Discharging debt in Thailand
Lacessit replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
There are companies in the West that assist credit card debtors by consolidating all the cards into one loan, usually at much lower interest rates. I don't know if that can be done in Thailand; however, IMO it is worth exploring because it is probably the interest rates that have her trapped in a vicious cycle. -

Is that standard practice in the US? IIRC when I rented in Australia all the agent wanted to see was a bank statement and my employer's phone number. It must be fun looking for a rental in Indonesia, AFAIK it is still one year's rent up front before the tenant is allowed to move in. -

I actually don't have a credit rating, because I have never had a personal credit card. I've had a company credit card, was glad to get rid of it because I was always worried about overstepping the mark. My father worked in a bank, he taught me to never use credit. Sorry, off topic. -

She is probably waiting for you to bail her out. Given the loan sharking that goes on here, I would say threats should be taken seriously. US consumer law and negotiation may not work here. Perhaps you or she need a lawyer to explain the options more clearly. My Thai GF knows if she ever goes into debt, it is the end of our relationship.
