Happy for them to do that - I don't want any UK accounts. If the cheque clears they can (censored). In fact if they send a cheque they have to make sure it clears to close the account.

my advice to you is to forget about cheques. cheques are usually used locally.

for international transfer the way to go it TT  and it can be done over phones / faxes, allthough it might be a but hard with your local bank.

900k was in a deposit account (as it always had been in the past without a problem)

seems like the problem is that the 900K are in a deposit account.

this has allways been a problem for non-O visa.

the 900 or 800K must be in savings account, because they must be ready to be spent.

so your friend should start the while non-O application, this time with his 900K baht

    in the liquid savings account.

if my cheque books from 2007/8 will be ok and I write myself a cheque?

aagh sir, it is getting complicated now...2007 is pre historic time in banking terms...one thing you can try is do it the old ways, just call the UK bank and tell them you want to send all your money to thailand....that is how i used to do it in the pre-historic times. than you might advice the bank to use a FAX, yes they should remember what it means, and than you can FAX (not to confuse with fakcs) the forms and it should be TT to your thailand account.

Sounds like the bar code which changes every month i think, but not sure.

No worries at all for you as automatically renews.

*sorry just realised you said 'paper'...i'll pass this on to others in this case!!!

by paper i mean the printed certificate...anyway it seems like this is an interpertation

of my country, while thailand might see the 2x pfizer as valid for ever...but who knows?

by the way, in my country they decided that only 3x pfizer will be defined now as vaccinated...

while thailand and many other countries will accept only 2x....a mess...i do not want

to be refused entry in any airport this days and time.

eh?  On what or where is vaccination expiration status displayed?  Did you get vaccinated in Thialand?  I recently got the JJ vaccine single jab here in the States.  The CDC vaccination card says nothing about expiration, nor does the more detailed receipt I got from the Pharmacy.

THE health authorities in my country decided to mention a date of expiry on the vaccination certificate. not sure how other countries will see it.

Prayuth doesn't like alcohol and the Thai government and the local governments say they don't want to attract bar riffraff. They want sweet, wholesome families.

it is not about politics, it is the hard reality of the pandemic. indeed the world as we know it has changed, at least for few years, and not only in thailand.

sitting in bars the way it used to be in thailand is simply not possible now. it will take at least

a year for thailand to get fully vaccinated, and even than not sure that more waves will arrive.

TAT knows it hence the talk about families, but truth is that families never had thailand as the top

priority for their high quality holiday, and definately will not have it with the pandemic.

  7. very bad news for thailand.

thai banking industry allready has bad reputation, and now such bad news will

    spread rapidly.

i stopped using my thai cards alltogether after few incidents, not fraud.

in one case i was denied boarding to a flight because the thai card was not

respected (but charged !!) and SWISS airlines asked me to pay in cash.

i asked the SWISS AIR agents on phone why did'nt they told me BEFORE the flight,

and they could not explain. took long time to get the money back.

in few other cases, my thai card was charged TWICE for same flight, and later the

amount was refunded. they said they did it because of many fraud cases from thailand.
