I was told work permit or no dice no way. Are you talking about a wire transfer? It was either Kbank or SCB that said no way without a work permit. Can this be overcome?

Dee Money is OK, but not sure of sending limits. I think they keep a tight lid on that. If I needed to move funds urgently, I used Thai PP.

it  is not so much the bank but the banker. some bankers are just ignorant.  bangkok bank is easier.

Without looking through 5 pages of comments. Pay pal has been used extensively by the bars in Pattaya whe they were open for live streaming. People could buy a girl or all the girlsa drink remotely using Paypal. I wonder if this has anything to do with the decision.

NO IT'S NOT. the thai sex industry is nothing compare to the billions in porn and sex trade in EU and US. but they surely like to blame thailand for all their dirt

Wise Supports debit card / credit card payment

THey not see You have used wise when one uses wise. Just another Credit or debit card payment.

Use it for a long time and when asked me this payment system works better then  other systems.

do WISE give cards with the 2D numbers on it? as those are accepted by car renting companies, while the "debit card" WITH FLAT NUMBERS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

If Thailand wants to be a "hub" for digital nomads they need to come up with a more realistic and flexible digital nomad visa. I can understand tightening up the overseas payment systems somewhat, but they still need to make it workable for a wide variety of transactions.

I AM NOT sure it is thailand who is doing this. it is more PAYPAL and the crazy USA crack on "MONEY LAUNDERING"

Actually, I have a Thai supplier who asked me not to pay him in Thailand anymore, because the government was now taking 7% VAT on all transactions, so I'm now sending the money to a subsidiary in another country.

7% VAT is only for sales in thailand and does not apply for export.

so if you collect the goods in thailand than you must pay the VAT, but if shipped out

of thailand than there is no VAT

do you have no intention of paying income tax in Thailand.

IT should not be paypal business if you paid or did not pay income tax.

they are only a payment platform.

all this hard time is coming from the USA and companies connected with USA.

the less you do business with US companies the easier your life become.

i use ,for example, SKRILL, very easy to register, cheaper than paypal and available in thailand. also they issue international mastercard payment

but for that need a bit more paperwork (just letter to confirm your address).

  7. paypal closed my account without warning with an aggresive message saying that i am a threat

    to their "community".

funny thing is that i did not do not even one single transaction during all the 12 years this

    paypal account was open.

another funny thing is that this sudden account closure (not in thailand) came after a loud argument

with my bank manager over...them not closing my account despite me asking for it twice !!

so they told all companies connected to my bank account that i am a dangerous person...and still did not close my account !!!

I guess you've missed all the go fund me posts here over the years?

Now, many countries are requiring insurance due to covid. Many.

i know of many countries who DO WANT tourists, and do not require insurance.

Brazil, for example, had this requirement and recently cancelled it.

mexico, panama, portugal, even USA do not require insurance.

the deal is simple - you go to hospital - You PAY.

My Thai wife MUST have a travel health insurance,

well, with all due respect, i meant that no country require insurance from first world EU/US tourists. the EU require insurance from thailand and other poor countries, to prevent abuse of their health system by poor thai. other poor touristic countries do not dare to ask for insurance becase, simply, they want those euro /dollars tourists.

The Pass should work the same as the COE.

i applied to LINEPAY service two months ago. they asked me to upload my passport foto and face foto.

than i was waiting for their approval. no result, called their call center.

had to hear 200 times a message saying : SORRY BUT WE WILL BE CLOSED FROM JULY

3 TO JULY 5 FOR BLAH BLAH...but now it is october....so expect same same with the computer pass.

i am sure it is going to be one hell of a mess.

Why not require insurance while here? Quite frequently, foreigners end up in the hospital here and can't pay.

WHY not require insurance? because no country in the world require insurance from tourists!

so if thailand want to stay competetive, it has to be so.

and it does not mattar for the "foreigners who don't pay". if they

do not pay they do not get treated. that simple. that is what all the world is doing.

BUT seriously, i want to ask for how long the insurance has to be valid?

say i have a non-O visa for another 8 months, but also carry a passport that allow

me visa exempt. can i buy insurance only for , say, 30 days, or will the thai embassy / computer/ IO will tell me: NO YOU MUST HAVE INSURANCE FOR 9 MONTHS ??

  13. those kind of questions /questunairees are coming now from banks all over the world.

nothing personal against you, allthough indeed very annoying and disturbing.

    Obama's heritage.

my advice to you is not to take it hard, but to complete the form. it is just a formality.

the bank will not give up. they might close your account if you refuse to answer. i played with one bank and refused to sign such form. they threatened to close my account and i still refused. they blocked my account for transfers and i still did not do anything. than they opened all but came back few months later to harras me again.

those forms acctually means nothing because anyway if you have an exceptional money transfer the bank will ask for details. and terrorists or drug cartels could not  care less about those forms.

it should not affect your 65K payment or any other payments. it is really just one big

nonsense formality that has to be filled.
