ON the one hand those are good news.
on the other hand this raise the question when and if this corona thing
will end. the announcement mention the 30 april as the date for amnesty. as
if this date is the official date for the virus expiration.
strangely enough, many airlines also suspended their operations until 30 april.
and on the third hand, i wonder what will be the thaivisa world in the post corona
age, and what kind of strange documents and regulations will be
presented by than/

the measures finally being taken
i think those measures are being taken because of pressure from the WHO
the world health organisation is running the show all over the world
and you can see the same measures being implemented in many countries,
in the same way and same times.
thailand propably must comply because of agreements and pressure.
but other stronger or more indepandant countries don't give a damn about the
corrupt WHO and do their own thing.
sweden for example never had any shutdown what so ever, and is doing fine.
turkmenistan claims the whole corona thing is a hoax and made it illegal
to even say the word corona, and illegal to wear masks in the street !!

So are they finally going to let the cat out of the bag and start revealing the full figures now and those hospitals can fill right up.
you don't have to believe any numbers, you just have to go to any
thai hospital and see if it looks like a corona outbreak .
there is no way to hide or deny when the outbreak happans.
the hospitals are just full of people coughing and acctually dying everywhere.
people cough blood and fall dead in the streets, shops, offices.
this is happaning right now in new york.
this is what happaned in wuhan china (only when it allready happaned,
the chinese governemt started to act).
and this is NOT happaning in thailand.
maybe the weather? maybe the good spirits? maybe another lighter mutation
of the virus?
let's just hope and pray it will stay this way, and go away in may.

i don't understand why all those measures are neccasary, when Thailand
coronavirus cases are not growing exponentialy and there are not many
death cases.
it's only 100-150 cases a day, steady for allready few weeks.
the total number of confirmed cases, after three months since the first
case was discovered, are only 2000+ cases.
seems like a huge victory over the virus, if the infection rate was high we would
only see photos of packed hospitals and bodies lying in the street (happans
in new york daily).
so maybe better relax, the way thai knows so well, and just keep it cool and distant,
sweden style. and indeed in may it will all go away.

Bangkok Bank also offers it but only gives as much credit as you leave in the account
bangkok bank gives to to retirement visa ?
is it a card with the 2d digits (numbers popped out)?
-
at this point in time, the last thing you want is to go cashless.
if the electric power will cut, or your bank will lose network,
you will not find yourself so smart
and "developed" and even if you will slide your card
between your cheeks , no one will sell you food or water
and you will starve to death, simply like that.

that is a real emergency.
i was just thinking about it now.
what will i do if my phone will stop working?
well, i still have a spare one, but for some people
it might be a mattar of life and death.
they can't order food, can't see news, can't even go to toilet.
scary.

Cremations are the norm in Thailand which is quite convenient as you can't go checking if they had an infection and they don't have to hide the bodies.Pretty simple really.
on youtube there is a famous movie showing the crematorium worker
screaming at a supervisor that they are working full time and there
is no more capacity for bodies in all 8 crematoriums...someone
did a quick calculations and concluded that the daily dead bodies
that were burned there was around 8000 bodies a day , during the pick
of the outbreak...let's hope and pray thailand will never
get there

i have tried to make people on this forum understand this and how it affects you especially at immigration
in rome do as the romans do.
if those people with brown uniforms want to see respect, than give it to them, and
they will give it back to you.
acctually in thailand farang are considered high class, until they prove otherwise.
remember this rule and all should be fine :
FARANG ARE CONSIDERED HIGH CLASS, UNTIL THEY PROVE OTHERWISE.
it is all up to you. respect the country and it's rules and you will be respected.

seriously? the brits are the angels of light?

noooo hha ha ha
exactly the other way around.
the brits were brainwashed that they are the superior race, and wherever
they will go and rule the light will shine from their behind, but
thailand does not seem to agree with that, and i personally do not
wonder why.

US State Department on March 19 urged citizens around the world to leave COVID-19 affected countries while some flights are still available.
but isn't the U.S. one of the most affected countries in the world right now?
i know many american citizens who left the U.S. ' especially new york,
for other countries, because of the coronavirus.
besides, it is useless to buy a ticket on commercial flight now.
the airlines cancell the flights all the time, i know people who wait 4-5
weeks for their flight, as it keeps on being cancelled and changed.

What about foreigners with retirement visas for 4 years in Thailand and trying to return to there homes in Thailand? Does anyone have any good news for me?
indeed what about it?
you are a foreigner who stayed in thailand for 4 years on retirement visa,
and now you can't return at all.
you might have assets here, apartment, car parked somewhere, cat and dog waiting to be fed,
and you can't go back to the country you called home.
3 months ago the virus was discovered in thailand.
two months ago millions of chinese could still come.
last month all gates were open,
and now all of a sudden you can't go back to your home,
just because you travelled to japan.
amazing.

so now thai citizens can't enter at all to their home country?
that is a new low.
i heard only about one country that did this so far - colombia.
i am not a thai citizen and allways saw myself as a guest in thailand
and thanked the hospitality, but this corona crisis expose
dark sides which i am shocked to reveal.
a government that turns it's back on it's citizens in time like
this is...what...no words...
and when you remember how chinese were allowed into thailand
in january, when the first cases were discovered in china - and thailand !! - makes
you wanna scream.
if only gates were closed to the chinese back in january, thailand
could escape this disaster.

what;s intersting to disocver on this message board and others, is pro-china posters who
try to educate us how to think and speak about china, and
of course spreading the china praise and official line...hmmm...very

Good and clear info.
I paid 3,800 Baht just 2 months ago for my multiple re-entry permit to use with my non immi O marriage visa which now won't permit me to leave and return to Thailand. The permit was issued based on non immi O visa not a contingency of having a work permit.
What do you call issuing a permit that legally can't be used now again?
Oh that's right. A scam.
well, you can re-enter, but not in the coming month.

I arrived in Taiwan from BKK on 17th March and was refused boarding my booked return flight at Taipei International on the 24th March, only to be given notice of the new COVID19 medical&insurance requirements effective from 22nd March,at the China airlines/Bangkok airways ticket counter.T1 Departures
I half expected it but had no prior notification from anyone.
All my other documentation, advised to carry with me by Thailand Immigration on my departure, was in order.
Now stuck in a Taipei Hotel since then,i find the medical test required to board cannot be obtained in Taiwan (Government Health legislation for a foreigner) unless i have COVID19 Symptoms.
I am also told insurance cover is 100% no chance.
How mad is that.
if you are from taiwan than you are from the 16 nationalities that require this covit-19 papers.

The Germans coming from a first world country with a decent education system should have known better.
maybe the germans knew better, they knew that exposure to the virus helps

every they 600-700 people die from the virus, and they are not sure why.
in germany, on the other hand, only 200 people died so far.

every country has it's own regulations and style.
for example, hungary just announced a nation wide lockdown for UNlimited time.
that's pretty scary and allmost like psychological war on the citizens.
but you mentioned the 30 april as a date that was presented by many airlines as
the time they will resume operations, and i guess thailand is following some
international guidelines regarding this date.
question is, of course, what will be the new regulations in the post corona world.
hard to believe that they will wave the health certificates and even quaranitine
for new visitors.
this situation is very bad for thai tourism.
