  1. Huge amounts of money are being made from Project Fear. Now selling snake oil.
  2. I didn't appreciate that. Although in writing, say, a novel it would sometimes be quite appropriate. But anyway English teachers don't teach conversational and colloquial English (TESOL teachers for example) ? You must be able to guide students to be able to not only speak naturally but also to understand what they hear. Anyway, we don't need to do this to death. I'm done.
  3. I was talking about English as it is spoken, you saw that. And that, of course, defines correct English. Not what's printed in old grammar guides and what's taught by old English teachers. Looking down on the common people who slowly shape the language day by day as 'semi-literate' is a bit Professor Higgins, isn't it? I'm telling you that 'would of' is now common parlance. Therefore it's correct, as is the alternative. I'm as sorry as you, but I'm not in denial.
  4. Sorry, but 'would of' is now colloquially completely (and sadly) acceptable in place of 'would have' in the UK now (so probably everywhere). You must be a long time away from the old country!
  5. Oh, what it must be like to be rich AND wealthy. I'll have some of that. ????
  6. Not locals though. Only immigrants usually. I lived in the Middle East for 13 years. Seen it all.
  7. Back on the leash. Much less chance to make huge tea money I imagine.
  8. Only increasing the RTP's unofficial takehome pay. ????
  9. All the old f*rts here saying people don't want to party until 0400h. How out of touch with youngsters can you be? ...
  10. That only means you probably don't drink anywhere near as much alcohol as your beer drinking friends. One large glass of wine a day, 250-750 Baht. For 250 Baht they could drink several large bottles of local beer, Federbrau or Heineken, or two 1 litre cans of the nice dark German beer whose name I forget. I've given up wine here because I like to drink at least two or three glasses with a meal, and not the local muck. ????
  11. Not really. I'd say this is typical Thai-style. They aren't in general turned on by good pay for hard work. They prefer to do as light a job as possible, and are very happy to earn just enough to get by. They will leave a good regular job for seemingly no reason as soon as their weekly or monthly pay hits the bank, and without giving notice. Maybe you're thinking about other nationalities?
  12. Not relevant to you I think, but for general interest, two years ago Hua Hin immigration transferred my O/A visa from old to new passport quickly, with no letter required, and free of charge.
  13. Get hit with cancer. 70k will seem like a bargain then.
  14. You couldn't even get all the Sky channels legally for what he's paying. I don't understand then, so don't tell me to hush....
  15. That's expensive but beggars can't be choosers I guess. I only pay twice that for a whole year and the same service, plus all PPV events, like boxing, etc.
  16. The service I use no longer accept new subs from from people using Android boxes because of the possibility of leaking MAC addresses compromising their security from incorrectly set up boxes. Firesticks only now I think. I'm lucky because I've subscribed for 4 or 5 years.
  17. For some reason, lol. Loaded boxes are fraught with problems. Updates and loss of services. I buy plain vanilla box and pay around 70 GBP each year for a full worldwide service including TV, latest films, all PPV sports, my provider been going strong 5 years already. Do some investigating and find a solid one that won't run away with your money. Updates on a 'loaded' box are just a regular PIA. ????????
  18. "the current expensive flights are caused by 1 / Fuel costs 2 / Reduced flights because of lack of check in staff and baggage handlers 3 / High season and school holidays." The first is reasonable if cost increases need to be passed on to the end user. The other two seem not necessary and are there only to increase profit on the number of flights actually performed. Increased demand does not lead to increased costs, and increases in price are because sellers want to shaft buyers while they can. ????
  19. ... you forgot the gambling; cards and animal fights for the boys, mahjong for the girls.
  20. I thought he meant that you even pay through marriage? Because for certain not all men pay 'working girls' .
  21. If you still drink as much they'll be as beautiful no matter what.
  22. Yep The Russians are ugly on the inside.
