  1. Read my post above - pretty sure its from the hospital via expatvac.
  2. For those in Kanchanaburi the main Phahol hospital is sending out SMS and emails. I had the wife call them but she got the usual response I have had everywhere in this province, Thai only. Assuming the switchboard girl was using the stock 'I don't know' answer I found their website and Facebook page, all in Thai. I fired off an email (no reply as yet) and a messenger query, which was answered quickly and in English, recommending I register with expatvac, which I did August 1st. So if you are in Kanchanaburi here is the current situation. They have a list of 30 names from the MFA (of course my name is not on it). They are receiving names in batches from the MFA and there are more to come in a second round. They don't know when they wil get the second list. So it's 2 steps forward 1 back for me, but if you are one of the 30 you should hear something soon. I also think this is now likely to be happening in other lesser provinces, so let's say it is progress and stay optimistic.

  4. phaholpolpayuhasena hospital - is this the main provincial hospital in Kanchanaburi?
  5. I see the British Chamber of Commerce offering Bangkok jabs too now. Maybe Bangkok will be finished soon and we can get on with helping the other 90% of the population?
  6. Thought for a minute I had a reply from expatvac/local hospital but, no, just an invite from the UK consulate email address to go to .... you guessed it, Bangkok for Astra Zenica. May be of interest to some of you but I will continue to wait for a venue less than 7 hours away. One more disappointment ???? GOV.UK The British Embassy has been informed that British nationals over the age of 18 have the opportunity to receive an AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccination at Piyavate Hospital in Bangkok between 25 and 29 August. Second vaccination 12 weeks later. Registration, on a first come first served basis, is through the following google docs form, https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe3h7dn4nVDNdNDD6ObyPYx6-H0mvE-nJ-RQjFigRrTNRUiqg/viewform?usp=sf_link. Registration closes on Sunday 22 August. Cost is THB 50. Numbers of vaccines are limited, so register now. If you are unsuccessful, we advise you to continue to register with the Thai Ministry of Public health, https://expatvac.consular.go.th/. For further details see gov.uk, Thailand Travel Advice at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand/coronavirus. British Embassy Bangkok

  8. My brother in the UK is the executor of my UK will. He and a Thai lawyer in Pattaya are joint executors of my Thai will. Practice is Australian/Thai. Cost 5000 Baht. When I pass I am told it will take around 4 weeks to settle the Thai estate with a required visit to a probate court to prove validity of the will. The will is in both Thai and English. I will never know of course, but I hope it works as well as was explained!
  9. Anyone in Kanchanaburi province got word of an appointment yet? I am preparing to be gobsmacked if and when they do.
  10. I think the situation in the 'lesser' provinces is unchanged as far as any expatvac registrants goes. They are likely still working through their top 20 provinces so if you are in a province with 200 or less i.e. not in the top 20, I guess it's going to take a bit longer. The only positive here is the locals are starting to get vaccinated at last, with SInovac. I could have gone along with all the migrant workers but chose to wait along with the wife.
  11. I have two credit cards with the co-operative bank, had them for many years. I have kept them in use for online purchases and several times on the line to their customer services I have told them I now live in Thailand. They never raised any issue with that. My cards are registered at my brothers UK address and up to now they have not needed a phone number, but a recent email tells me that without a UK number I won't be able to use the card online. I did a bit of Googling and see there are many companies offering virtual UK numbers, but mainly for business and sales use, and come with fairly expensive monthly charges. Anyone had this issue and can recommend a provider? I don't mind a monthly fee as long as it's cheap. Thanks
