  1. Thanks for this post but I fear I am not alone in having NO paperwork after my 1st and 2nd jab. I also do not have a 13 digit number and am told to wait (for up to a month) till the poo yai tannoys that everyone should go to the local clinic for their certificate. Where I live this will include many non-Thai who just have passports, same as me. Vaccinations were done in the village hall. To add to the confusion, for the first jab the lead doctor took my new passport to register me, but the admin on the second jab used my Thai driving licence, which has my old passport number. Tried to explain but got the usual 'no problem', even though I am pretty sure I will have a problem. Everything on both days was hand written so now I assume someone is inputting all the details. I now realise that unless you were vaccinated at a pukka hospital, this is likely to be the case for many, Incidentally the wife we vaccinated on the same days as me, but her phone is not found. The wife of the village chief says it may have been entered wrongly.
  2. Had the Beijing Sling cocktail (SV and AZ) pondering a booster in about 6 months, Still not so sure about the mRNA choices. Suggestion for next poll: How easy was it to get your vaccination certifiicate?
  3. Saw this on Channel 7 news this morning. Was going fast, and, i'm not a biker, but looked to me as if he hit the front brake only from a long way back, bike went up on front wheel just before impact.
  4. This is great thanks, VT6 looks good. However it is also a good example of how cra ppy ABNB is as its easy to find JP Unixx there, but no searches show VT6, just all the other VT numbers. Honeys website is good and VT6 location is perfect. Thanks
  5. As part of my plan to move to the Pattaya/Jomtien area from the sticks in the East, I have been looking at AirBNB and so far am not very impressed. I am looking for a month rental somewhere central to get me started while I look around. The website seems very basic, has limited filters and in general is not intuitive or comprehensive to the same standard as Agoda or Hotels.com etc, which I use a lot. Also what's with only being told the exact location after booking? Location is top of the list. The Base, for example has postings about a full km apart on the map view. (OK I know where it is in reality, but what about the others I don't know the exact location?). Accurate room photos and sea views etc seem to be raised very often in customer reviews, and some hosts seem great, but there are many who get complaints. I will keep looking, but would love to know of any other websites dealing with short term (initially) condo rentals? Should you have a condo for rent please don't hijack the thread, send me a message if you have a serious proposal. Note: it's early days and I am not in any hurry, Thanks
  6. Ii agree, mainly becuase the only thing I believe about any statistics on anything published, be it cases, tests or vaccines delivered, none are accurate either because they are manipulated, up or down to suit, or measures on this scale are beyond such a disorganised, flawed-tech or paper-based administration.
  7. When you can't find a white shirt that doesn't have a food stain on the front (usually turmeric). When you learn a new, useful Thai word, but 5 minutes (or less) later, it's completely forgotten.
  8. I believe this is difficult. I was asked to volunteer at the local high school when I arrived here 4 years ago on a retirement extension of stay, which prohibits 'work', which in some cases includes volunteering. I would pursue the official route with a legal volunteer organisation. It's a small risk I believe but one I am not prepared to take. If you have a work permit it may be permitted as I believe you can have 2 employers on one WP. Never had a job here so wait for others more qualified to answer, It's a bone of contention for me as I'd love to volunteer a few days a week. Good luck
  9. I know I am old(er) at 66 now but it seems not everyone does. True story from yesterday. Went with the wife to the vaccine day at the village hall, quite busy when we arrived about 200 waiting. Wife headed to the blood pressure table with me asking me to sit down. This was greeted with two Thai ladies jumping up and quite angrilly shouting, "wait! they are starting with old people first! 60 Up" Wife: He is old! Ladies: How old? Wife: 66 Ladies: Don't believe you. Had to show my passport before they took my blood pressure. Oh how everyone laughed. Made my day.
  10. When the masseuse asks you to 'turn over' and it takes you 5 minutes to do so. When you see a video of you drunken dad dancing and it looks like it's been shot in slow motion, when at the time you felt like John Travolta. When you pack 7 pairs of underpants for a weekend break.. When you dress at the speed of a sloth crossing the highway.
  11. Easier said than done. 3 years ago and 2 years ago i asked at the local amphur for yellow book/ and pink ID. both times told both times, 'cannot, for migrant only, farang no'. I live in a migrant area i see agents with stacks of books and cards mostly for Myanmar but not for me. It's always a post code lottery with stuff like this.
  12. Not always. My Wife (Thai) has 'no records found', and we both got vaccinated at a local walk in at the village hall. All handwritten paper procedures. Now I have to track down my 13 digit number, which will draw more blank looks I am sure.
  13. Correct. I have tried twice in the last 4 years (pre-covid) to get both a yellow book and pink ID card, refused with a shrug - not for farang, migrant only. The boss at our local amphur is a bit of a donkey on even basic requests. Refused the wife a birth ccertificate copy after making her jump through many hoops. It would make life simpler for them and us if we all had a card.
  14. There's an interesting documentary called BlackPink on Netflix if anyone is interested.
  15. Agree, and this applies to almost everything, not just covid related. Almost nothing that's announced is enforced, it is all just to sound like they know what to do, but then don't do it, or do it for a little while then it peters out, for example plastic bags, now freely available in the majority of outlets.
  16. Post it here, someone may be looking for a project car. https://www.facebook.com/groups/thailandexpatcarclub
  17. Quoting my own post ......... Well after registering with expatvac on Aug 1, as Murphy's law would have it, I just got an email appointment for 2 Pfizer on 23 of this month then 3 weeks later. They finally came through, albeit a bit too late. Turned it down obviously. On the bright side won't need 2 x 6 hour round trips to the main large provincial (covid) hospital. Still happy with my decision.
  18. This should keep the next commitee meeting busy for at least 10 minutes.
  19. Absolutely. Being in the undisputable high risk category I will continue to take every precaution I can. I am not ready to leave the party just yet!
  20. Absolutely, at 66, 3 stents, type 2 diabetes I'd be a fool not to be. (not obese before you ask me to lose weight ???? )
  21. Wifes 2 brothers had their second (AZ) jab after the SV 3 weeks ago. Brother A had a sore arm for a day after SV and nothing at all after AZ Other brother had all the side effects after both jabs, but subsided after a few days. He went to the local clinic for some meds as he is never sick in the past and was a bit worried. He's back at work planting trees today. Wife and I had SV 2 weeks ago, me, no side effects at all, wife dead arm for a few days. AZ in a weeks time, hope the odds are in our favour. I'd rather be sick from a vaccine than from covid any day.
  22. I agree with the OP 100%. It is also very slow on even the most topical threads, and is obvious on the 'polls' - not many here now? I would also add there are some former, frequent posters conspicuous by their recent absence, won't name names but I fear they have jumped ship to an alternate forum and not told us ????
  23. Have a potato scone once or twice a month for variety, and beer and Beng Beng are my weaknesses.
  24. All I know is 2 weeks after my 2nd jab next week, I will plan a trip out of the village for at least a long weekend before I go completely nucking futz. I will however not let my guard down concerning masks etc. The next challenge will be to get Mor Prom working for the certificate, by tracking down my 13 digit vax number.
  25. Yes it's a real grey area. My accountant also suggested if anyone knows the definitve answer it's the pension companies as many will provide widows pensions to foreign wives already. Maybe I wil ask them the question in an email.
