The driver had stopped for a bite to eat in a restaurant
Very fortunate he didn't decide to have a take away. Difficult to see anything surviving in that truck.

Transferred? He should be sacked and charged with assault. Only when the law starts getting serious with these sadistic teachers will the continuous stream of such stories start to decline. If you can't discipline your students without resorting to violence, you shouldn't be a teacher.

One wonders if these yokels are reveling in the attention their decision has created, even though it shows them to be witless morons.

They should be given a public thrashing in front of the whole school, then sacked. That should slow a few of these sadistic scumbags down a little. There is NO excuse whatsoever for beating children.

But, in the meantime common sense dictates that giving 100s of billions of dollars to rogue regimes who are going to spend the money on weaponry to attack the US and civilian targets is criminally stupid. Thankfully the Daily Express is shining light on the outrageous payment(which one side of the political divide still deny happened!) to the terrorists that launched the attack on the US base and then shot down the Ukrainian airline. This is where the blame lies IMHO.
"As part of the disastrous JCPOA Iran deal, Obama released more than $140 billion dollars to the murderous Mullahs of Iran.
“That emboldened the regime and helped fund Soleimani’s deadly covert operations against America and our allies.”
You are missing out the very valuable point here that it was not a donation, but the return of Iranian assets which had been frozen under sanctions.
"As part of the deal Tehran regained access to its own assets, which had been frozen abroad, and as a result of which the Iranian regime received up to $150 billion."
It was an internationally agreed deal, so to suggest that Obama alone was dishing out free money is plain wrong. As per the majority of your posts, information gets twisted and other highly salient information left out trying to score questionable political points.

I note from the full story that he was spoken to by the captain, fined and released. I wonder how much the fine was?

bronze Toyota van
Doesn't look bronze to me ? I know Thais have a strange idea about what bronze colour is.
A look at the colour of the passengers pants would probably show them. Careering out of control at speed has to elicit some sort of response after all.

When demand is low you need to reduce prices, especially when the local currency is strong. Of course, lowering prices is anathema to Thais, who normally just keep putting them up, thus further driving away customers. Then of course we get into the realms of the rip offs and treating your customers like dirt, none of which leads to repeat business, but a fast few baht now has always been more appealing here than taking a long term view.
Yep! Them there chickens have come home to roost, though the idea that it is themselves that have driven customers away will not sink in, as they will always seek to blame someone or something else.

It will be most interesting to see the reaction of the authorities if this actually brings tourists back, at which point they would have to accept that it was their actions which caused such a significant downturn in tourism in town to start with. That family friendly resort thing just isn't bringing in the crowds after all, is it?

I recently got pulled over by the cops for one of their routine collect money stops, and while I had everything, I heard more than one tourist moaning loudly that they were paying out money for the stops that were "everywhere" every single day, and would never be coming back. Fair enough, they didn't have the right documents, but I have never been to a tourist resort that so actively looks to fleece their guests in such a way. Combine this with the murder of the town as it used to be and is it any surprise that the place is a ghost town?

I am told that sympathy can be found by everyone in the dictionary somewhere between shit and syphilis.
When a poster is asking for advice, it is customary to offer some if you are able, or shut up, if you cannot.
Not everyone has been here for years and is totally up to speed with Thai visa restrictions, many of which would seem absurd and draconian in many other places.
Edogthong, follow the advice of the better posters above and you should be good, though be aware Thailand is being super paranoid about repeat visitors. I guess the place is just so damned good, they have to keep people out to make room for the hoards rushing in. Immigration probably hasn't heard yet that tourist numbers are through the floor, but the red carpet will probably be out for you once they do.

I hope this isn't going to degenerate into a Thai bashing festival, because the work ethic, or lack of it, is not only found here. Across the entire Indian and Asian sectors, and the South Pacific Islands work, especially manual work doesn't seem to be met with much enthusiasm by those supposed to be doing it. I don't know if it is all culture or just the temperatures, or a combination. Life overall in these places goes at a much slower pace than we are used to at home. We want things done now, they see it as "what's the rush?" It really is East meets West, and understanding that things are different here, annoying as it is.

I don't think many who live in Pattaya use the beach, as no one likes swimming amongst a bunch of turds and the film of diesel from the marine craft. If I am going to the beach, I head down to Sattahip, near the naval base, just past Utapao airport. Clean sand, clear water and no beach vendors pestering you every five minutes.

I am not as old as he is, but I have insurance. I would be ashamed to have to put my hand out on a go fund me, or other money raising effort. If you live here you absolutely need insurance. If you don't have it, you should be in a position to cover all of your bills. Relying on the generosity of strangers is just wrong. I do accept in this case, someone else started the funding.

Now, now. Colin is already shaving his legs, ready for the shiny tights. Talk of bringing in a dark horse, or in this instance a dark dog, will have him worrying that his tiara might not be coming home.

I went outside, and my bloody wheelchair collapsed, had to call the wife come home, get me into my spare chair.
Her first words were, no more french fry, no more bacon butties for you fatty.????
Oh, so rude!!
Perhaps your dear wife doesn't know the words: 'portly' or 'excessively stout'.....
Maybe though, because soon you will be wearing those stained pink tights, you ought to just eat vegetables from now on...?
Or embrace the hidden Social Justice Warrior within you & become....
Vegan!!

Lord, give the poor man a break. Suggest taking away one of the few pleasures in life and worse, going all the way to the V word. What should he do next? Give up drinking?

A leper walks into a cafe on a wet and miserable day, orders his food and looks for somewhere to sit. The place is packed apart from one guy sat alone at a table, so he shuffles over and explains that while he will quite understand if the guy says no, but is there any chance of sharing the table. The guy agrees, but the leper asks one more time, "Are you sure I won't put you off your food?" The man assures him so the leper sits and begins to eat. The man at the table brings a mouthful of food up and as he puts it in his mouth, looks directly at the leper and for a moment it seems he is about to vomit.
The leper pauses and says, "Are you OK? I will leave if I am putting you off your food." The man assures him this is not the case, so the leper continues to eat. A second time the man takes a mouthful of food and the same thing happens, though this time he has to make a serious effort not to throw up. The leper starts to get up, but the man apologises profusely and assures the leper that it is not him that is making him queasy. Unsure, but not wanting to eat outside in the rain, the leper once more starts to eat.
A third time the man takes a mouthful of food, and as he does so, looks directly at the leper and once more he is assailed by vomiting actions and this time he cannot hold it in, and sprays the contents of his stomach all over the table, everyone's food and the leper, who is incensed.
"You sick scumbag!" he screams, "Three times! Three times I asked you if I was putting you off your food, and now look at me! As if life wasn't tough enough already, my food is ruined and I am covered in foul smelling puke. What the hell is wrong with you?"
The man says, "I am really, really sorry, but I swear to you it wasn't you that was putting me off my food and making me feel sick. It was that evil fella behind you, who kept dipping his bread in the pus at the back of your neck!"

Working on a contingency basis probably. So no need to dole out any money.
Not so sure about that. US lawyers especially want you to have some "skin in the game" so will probably want to see a wad of cash before they sue someone like Musk. UK are pretty much the same and I don't know any Thai lawyers who will even move off their chair before they see cash, and lots of it.

This really is a terrible, though totally predictable situation. Those with cognitive thought have long known that Trump was unstable and not fit for the position. It is tragic, that they are so caught up in politics that no one has the guts to stand up and do what is right by getting rid of him. He is bad for America and bad for the world.

I think Thailand is only actually able to march backwards due to having shot itself in the foot so many times.
It really is like a time warp, with progress completely reversed and a determined march back towards the dark ages.

Well there's another big bunch of votes the current mismanage-rs of the country just lost, IF we ever have an election that is, of course.
They seem to have the opposite of the Midas touch, in that everything they get involved with turns FROM gold TO crap.

But the junction WAS clear as you can see on the video so she was right to proceed.
Given she got nailed, obviously it wasn't clear. The law actually says you may proceed with caution on a green light, WHEN it is safe to do so.
So, if she had looked, rather than just assume it was safe, she would have seen the lunatic coming and waited.
The speeding truck is to blame, but she also is at fault, for poor driving, and undue care and attention.

Thailand road carnage: Media reveal nearly 1,000 more died last year at the scene of accidents
in Thailand News
Posted
Official rubbish more like. In all the years I have been here I have not once seen the cops doing anything about tackling unsafe driving. Tea money stops everywhere, but those just enhance the cops wages rather than preventing accidents. The reality is people can drive how the hell they like with impunity from prosecution in this lifetime, and the longer they get away with it without killing themselves first, the higher the numbers will be, which this article shows is what is actually happening.
