  1. Agree. Yellow Book was previously accepted at my DLT. However, no longer. Now require 180 km round trip to local Immigration Office.
  2. Colin was unable to get out of his wife's SUV at immigration. He told us an officer would come outside and take his photograph whilst he was sat in it. Form filling his wife (or immigration) did. Passport style photos could be taken with a mobile phone and printed to size by a photo/copy shop. Bank statement could be ordered by post. My own immigration office doesn't insist that my bank statement is less than 7 days old. They say my passbook updated upon the day overrides that requirement. Otherwise, Thai Visa Centre require passport style photos plus passport sending via post and a selfie by LINE/email. No financial requirement hence no bank statement etc. required.
  3. I believe it should be. My headmaster at secondary school suffered a fatal heart attack whilst attempting to hit out of a bunker!
  4. Can understand as a rider because that's what motor insurance is for. However, as a pillion? Guess you would have to rely on the moto taxi driver having valid insurance. A Thai pillion passenger would be in the same boat but for a different reason; treatment for injuries caused in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) aren't covered by Thai National Health Service.
  5. Absolutely. I had an outstanding arrest warrant in UK. I knew for a fact that UK Border Force have zero interest in warrants and police matters in general upon the basis they don't get paid enough. Even the UK police don't go out to arrest someone with an outstanding warrant. The warrant awaits until you are arrested for something else. I had already flown in/out Manchester Airport three times. Our resident troll assured me that I would be arrested upon arrival. As you say, utter BS troll.
  6. Agreed. One particular very well known troll who regularly gets 'expelled' has multiple profiles. Others don't like the thought of anyone 'getting away with it' so suggest things aren't as easy as they used to be etc.
  7. Very sorry. A lesson to us all. We know the risks of riding motos. Taking a taxi, jumping on a baht bus, hiring a songthaew or even riding pillion on a moto taxi is less risky. We know we should wear protective gear but it's hot and so many of us don't.
  8. Thanks for your post. Focus is HMRC and income tax. AFAIK we can't avoid income tax being deducted from our pensions at source in UK hence I doubt we will be of much interest. Valuable information about how things work nevertheless. DWP is another matter of course. I was tipped off when I first claimed my State Pension that it was vital to maintain an operational UK mobile phone number upon their records. A UK address wasn't mentioned but I assumed that went without saying. However, that was a decade ago. Things move on. Computer systems are now designed to talk to each other.
  9. You're right on that! My IO also brought my 90 day report into line when switching my stamps from old to new passport and issuing my next retirement extension. The online report prior to that had rejected. Thus, my first online report afterwards must have rejected for a different reason.
  10. I got around that by giving the IO who moved my stamps from old to new passport a tip and asking for his mobile number. My first 90 day report afterwards duly rejected. I rang him up and he made it go through.
  11. One time I was applying for my retirement extension the Immigration Officer noticed that an old stamp in my passport was from another Immigration Office. She asked; 'How much did you pay your agent?' She told me if ever I didn't have the funds 'we can do it for less'.
  12. Received reply to my email from Grace within an hour (on Sunday). That is first class service!
  13. Most helpful, many thanks. My Immigration Office is over a 170km round trip. My online 90 day reporting has stopped working and I can no longer drive. These guys can obtain my extensions and also do my reporting for me!
  14. How would this affect you? Are you a UK citizen? Where are you presently living?
  15. They do that to get priority boarding?
  16. Bank passbook and letter from bank was previously accepted at my Immigration Office. One year they brought in the additional requirement of a 12 month bank statement. An IO was going to send me away but accepted 500 THB instead.
  17. Absolutely correct! The prospect of getting together 20,000 THB cash to show for a border bounce was practically impossible for many doing repeated Visa Exempt entries. Shudder to think what they would have done in event of accident or serious illness.
  18. Kaya was denied entry to the Kingdom under a long established and well publicised requirement. The fact that people claim to 'not have been informed' or have incorrect beliefs such as showing their online bank account or credit card instead is their problem. Pre-approval as already suggested would be a good move. Ideally, it should include criminal record information and travel insurance for length of stay which must include repatriation. How to validate travel insurance to guard against lying to insurers to obtain a policy which would never pay out is more difficult.
  19. Wife has a friend with a mobile phone shop. She usually buys 5 year old used iPhones for both of us. As expected, our iPhone 8 plus's (256GB) bought for 8,000 baht apiece three years ago are now stuck at iOS 16.7.12. A few weeks ago her 'LINE' messenger reported it would no longer work on existing OS version. It must be regional because mine is OK (set to UK). She purchased a used iPhone 14 plus from her friend for 20,000 baht. A bit of an update being only three years old! Obviously, LINE problem solved, she now has 5G and eSIM capability and she likes the larger screen. I intend to keep my 8 until something crucial won't instal because it does everything I need very well. Does anyone who's gone beyond iPhone 14 find much noticeable difference in later models?
  20. Very best use for a human body as I understand is to be rendered down into fertiliser pellets. We do it all the time with animals. Unfortunately, ethical reasons prevent same being done with humans.
  21. If I die whilst in UK I've decided I'm not paying. Completed my cadaver bequethal form for University Medical School. If they don't get to me in time (or whatever), my local council can have my pleasure. More likely to die in Thailand. No choice for me here as my wife has taken out Life Insurance with ThaiLife.com
  22. Difficult to believe they don't place the casket inside one of these when it's displayed in the home or at a temple prior to cremation.
  23. No criminal record checks for Non-O Retirement in country application.
  24. Just tried a quick Google. Searching Christian Churches and my province. Map appears with Protestant, Catholic etc. Phone numbers listed on most.
