I too would like PV panels but Mrs has other priorities and I get overruled! How did your PEA office establish that your existing meter was faulty? When we had a water leak the PWA performed a meter accuracy test and found that the meter was overrecording (fast) by 8%. They installed another one free of charge. I calculated that it will take 24 years to recover the cost of the water leak. However, that assumes that the new meter is accurate!

Absolutely correct. We recently had two funerals at our house within a few weeks of each other. All connections were kosher going through our meter. Bills increased considerably, probably mostly due to the casket refrigeration units.

When meter interference is suspected a physical visit is essential. You check that the seals are intact, for holes drilled in the side of the meter to prevent the disk rotating and then there is the legendary 'Liverpool Loop'. I am guessing that when they are satisfied there has been no interference and as they are already at the premises, it would make sense to obtain as many photographs of your PV panels as possible for calculation purposes?

Could it be that the PEA are conducting an investigation into illegal abstraction? They know how many kWh are being billed to consumers and how many are passing through their substations. What they don't know is how many kWh's PV systems are feeding into the grid. Maybe the guys are under instruction to obtain as many photographs as possible for the purpose of counting the number of panels?

Pardon me but I have a question about my 'rent a roof' free installation PV panels in UK. When I'm in Thailand I turn off all services but I'm not permitted to touch the panel isolator switch for obvious reasons. I keep watch on the generation via the installation companies website so know that they are functioning. On the last occasion I was here for six years continuously, my house was unoccupied and locked up all of that time. Is it safe to do this?

I have a niece who is planning to study Japanese language in Udon Thani. Previously, a nephew studied for 6 months at same college and obtained a post in the seafood industry in Japan. Language would be the key to that for sure.

If I remember correctly, the example quoted was something like; 'When we have a raid planned we don't want female officers failing to turn up because their baby sitter has let them down'.

My stepdaughter last year successfully completed a five year university course to join Royal Thai Police. She wanted to become a forensic scene of crimes officer. Unfortunately, part way through her course RTP announced that no females were to be appointed to 'inquiry' roles for reliability reasons. However, she decided to continue. I suggested Immigration Division would be the most lucrative, especially if she could be posted to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Whilst waiting for the next intake, she is working for a software development/website/mobile application company and seems to be happy in her work. I can't envisage anything changing very much at RTP. Does seem a shame after 5 years of study not to try for RTP.

Khon Kaen is out of your area but for price comparison purposes I was quoted 17,000 baht for a complete respray of a Toyota Hilux Mighty X. Finally got it done via our local car dealer friend for 11,000 baht which included a new tailgate. Decent enough job for a 1995 vehicle.

During the 1990's, whilst in Chile, I saw a TV news item that caused a great deal of concern at the time. They broadcast the recording of a conversation between a South American pilot and control tower. Tower; "Flight XXXX you are on a collision course, make IMMEDIATE right turn". Several seconds later the pilot replied; "Que?". The controller then repeated the urgent warning, this time in Espanol. Obviously, the incident illustrated the importance of pilots being able to speak English!

Very true. No getting away from that. On a flight from U.K. to Bangkok on a Middle Eastern airline I asked a steward what the language requirements were for cabin crew? I was told minimum of two languages, one of which MUST be English. Many years ago a friend from U.K. married to a Malaysian of Chinese descent told me that English is the preferred language due to the mix of languages. Also true that English is most definitely THE international language.

Thanks for that. I don't know if the Thailand mobile 'phone/Internet Service Providers have a shared database of defaulters or not. If they do it could restrict (or even prevent) you signing up with a different one. In U.K. I refused to pay for the remaining term of my broadband contract after disconnection. I received several threatening letters from a firm of debt collecting 'solicitors'. After a while they stopped sending them. I checked on-line and the debt (£150 GBP) had been written off.

Even though the hotel booking was in my wife's name a hotel in Phuket insisted upon seeing my passport. They looked at all the pages (and discussed) the extension stamps.

I'm another one. Once woke up in hospital following a collapse. First thing they asked; 'Passport please'. Another reason is the 'Tabien madness' in my house. My Mrs loses her house and vehicle books all the time. I fear my passport would also disappear.
