  1. Very good point about your hospital bill, thanks.
  2. Very helpful thank you. I was there at the beginning of May and a very limited choice hotel breakfast made to order was served outside due to the dining room being closed because of Covid. Going again in 4weeks so hoping for a better breakfast now.
  3. Even more worrying are some of the 'border bouncers' who can't even get 20,000 baht together in case they might have to show it. What chance have they got in the case of serious accident or illness?
  4. That's the big one! My Halifax Bank permit me to have a Thai address but won't send cards to Thailand.
  5. Thanks for that. The 'freeze/defrost' and 'replace your digital card' facilities are definitely beneficial from the security aspect.
  6. My traditional banks (U.K.) don't seem to offer virtual disposable credit cards as yet. NeoBanks only offer virtual debit cards. Also, you have to remain resident in U.K. to continue your banking relationship with them. Anyone had any success or can make suggestions please?
  7. As a basic user, I can't decide which I prefer myself, MX or Mint. From experience, the only times I have had problems with virus and a keylogger has been when using Microsoft Windows.
  8. Agreed! Although I would substitute 'European' with 'English speaking Countries'.
  9. Have a Thai Aunt who owns a Thai restaurant in Amarillo, Texas. She splits her time between U.S.A. and Thailand. She has no intention of retiring and giving up her restaurant in the States.
  10. Thanks for the advice. I love olives/oil but always hesitate when I see the prices in supermarkets.
  11. Very good observation. Across the road is a nurses 'surgery'. She examines and prescribes. Medicines are dispensed similar to sweets in an old fashioned sweet shop from glass jars. Patients come away clutching plastic bags containing tablets of various colours. Expect to pay 150-200 baht for the examination and medicines. Mrs has them everywhere as you describe.
  12. Thought provoking, many thanks for your story. I feel similar prior to fainting. You have lost control of your body and don't know where and when it will go from there. I don't drive or ride a moto any longer because I don't know when it will happen again. Most disturbing for people around you because they always fear the worst.
  13. You can only do what you can do. Can't change the past. Families do drift apart for various reasons. If either them or you had really wanted to make contact then they (or you) would have done so at the time. Think of what you have and who you know now and make the best of it from today onwards.
  14. Nice to hear, thanks for sharing. The treatment would have been regarded as Accident/Emergency and provided free (normally an admin fee of a few Euros only).
  15. Thanks for that. It's often said the U.K. NHS is good at fixing you up. However, if you need anything else you've got a problem. My Mother-in-law is under Queen Sirikit in Khon Kaen. Sounds like you did very well!
  16. That's so bad! Would this have been before the days of wireless remote card readers? Or did they insist upon actual cash?
  17. To be fair, it's possible that the person in charge of admissions lacked judgement, authority and/or the courage to make a decision. They heard 'foreigner' and their instructions just kicked in. If the patient was a big fat falang with a heart attack they would have been correct. Even so, I believe there are regulations relating to providing initial life saving treatment (with a time limit) which must be provided. In this case it was obvious that prolonged treatment would be necessary.
  18. Maybe that's due to the number of people who conduct their business/personal banking using mobiles (I'm guessing the majority nowadays). Hackers would therefore put more effort into cracking Android and iOS operating systems than Windows and Linux?
  19. Never known anything like that in U.K.
  20. That's most helpful advice thank you. I was using Windows 10 OS on my laptop. I immediately formatted the hard drive and installed a Linux distro. The hackers continued to work their way through my Google bookmarks. I was receiving warnings such as; 'Unusual log in (or attempted) detected from Russia/Romania' from the likes of 'FreeVoipDeal' through to 'Spotify'.
  21. Very interesting. Thanks for posting. It sounds as if your bank is calling everyone in Malaysia a 'tea leaf'.
  22. Forgot to mention, my AliExpress 'crackers' went into my Lazada account also and selected a PC power supply. However, as the item was out of stock they couldn't order it. I hadn't stored my credit card details in Lazada so they would have been disappointed anyway!
