I personally HATE HATE these restaurants....The food blows.... Not even if its free, will I eat there.....Look who eats at these places.....Very very few farang EVER.....I think most farang dislike this kind of food..

The conveyor belt places are a nice experience for kids, but the food is extremely boring. All buffet places generally serve terrible food, apart from some breakfast buffets. I eat so little at these places I'm their ideal customer. But I only go if someone I'm with insists on it.

The defamation laws here are interesting. Wouldn't the restaurant need to show intent to harm the business? If the guest argued that the review was made in order to inform potential customers, not to punish or shame the restaurant, wouldn't that make a difference?

And being threatened with a defamation lawsuit does sound a little bit like defamation in itself. It's an endless loop.

You mean its time they stopped the scam.  No self respecting Thai man would ever pay what some of you have paid.  If a ladies had a child, been married before, or worked a bar then there is no dowry even by their standards.  They will tell you it's all about face and proving you can provide.  They will tell you it's just for show and you will be refunded after wedding.  I know plenty who have fallen for this scam.  The dowry is to pay for their purity, and if you arent getting that why would you pay.? You dont have to pay.  If you can provide and take care of the lady that will be enough, but if you're a teacher then ... I had a couple try this on me, and I respectfully  said no way.  Well trust me they know if you're good and will take care, and if they say,"no!" then you know it was nothing more than a business  transaction  in the making.   I and many others did not pay and things worked out, but remember  theirs is a different  culture  you just have to balance.  With that said if shes a virgin never married then of course theres a dowry!

Your whole argument falls apart with that last sentence of yours.

I see nothing but mostly a bunch of cheap Charlie’s on this page.  If you value your wife you don’t judge her for her past. God knows most fellas hear aren’t spending a fortune on big weddings.  Giving a poor family 100k thb not that big a deal - helps them, respects tradition and shows you hold your partner in esteem.

Well.... No. If the amount is "not that big a deal" then how does it show you "hold your partner in esteem"?

Your link has Libya @ 73.4 3 years ago (Thailand 2nd at 36.2).

The link to another website I posted earlier has Libya @ 28.46 for 2021 (Thailand at 30.24).

Huge improvement by Libya, Thailand needs to have a look to see how they did such an amazing job of cutting road deaths by nearly 2/3 rd's in such a short timeframe.

Or the numbers are buffalo excrement.................

Libya basically didn't have a functioning government at that time and I would happily ignore any numbers reported by Libyan government bodies then. Which leaves lovely Thailand, which obviously under-reports their numbers (the definition of death at site of accident rather than as a consequence of the accident), as number 1.

But does it matter if they're number one? I meet very few people in Thailand who DON'T have a scar from a motorbike accident. And I meet a lot of people where there's been at least one traffic death in the family. That's insane.

Definitely the MB vault by speeding through a red light. The white car hesitates because she does not know what the MB wants to do. She expects it to drive in front of her and so slows to let it through.

Yes. I didn't see any braking or steering/evasive action by the MB. In Thailand you're supposed to instinctively take evasive action to the left ( to avoid oncoming traffic) which would not have helped the Honda driver if she had continued her turn. Stopping to see what the lunatic travelling at high speed will do makes sense. We know what happened because we have the footage. Hindsight is 20 etc. The Honda driver didn't know if stupid MB driver would swerve, which he should have. So I'm arguing from the point in time when she stopped, not from now, when we know what ultimately happened.

@ 30.24 road fatalities per 100,000 capita Thailand ranks #37.

    Hardly a world record.

    https://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/road-traffic-accidents/by-country/

According to this page https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate Thailand ranks higher than 37. Still not a world record according to current data, but just a few years ago they shared the distinction of being world leaders in road deaths with Libya.

Education or shall I say lack of contributes to the situation.

How many of us finished school at 14-15 years old and lived

    a successful life....

Possibly encouraged to do this type of work by older relatives

    with little to no education....

Take a survey when you walk down and ask people of this

profession if they know it’s illegal... some don’t have a clue.....

It's a diverse world and the reasons why people sell sex are many and varied. It's easy to assume it's all based on hardship and lack of options. But even in the affluent and well-off western democracies I see young middle class women choosing to work for a few months selling sex in places like Dubai. Because the money you can earn is insane. There's nothing else they can do that comes even close.

???? I've been living here for over a decade, and as for my original statement, call it tough love, eventually those selling their bodies to strangers with money will stop hooking and get a "real" job, now it the perfect time for a life reset.  Or would you prefer they keep selling their body till they drop?

Selling it? Really? I've never been offered to buy a body.

I just wondered how you react when a female with shapely legs walks by , I expect that you stare at her legs and leer at her and your head swivels around as she walks by with a Phhhrroooaaaawwww" look on your face

I had to look up the meaning of "leer" to understand what you're on about. Apparently it's about showing openly that you're sexually attracted to someone. Much like a predator looking at its prey. And that's usually wrong in a shopping mall. But I think you're carrying your observations too far.

Most people make an effort to look nice, presentable or even attractive when they go to a public place like a shopping mall. There is a way to look at a woman and acknowledge that she looks attractive without adding the predatory element. You can smile, widen your eyes a little bit. It doesn't HAVE TO be creepy. And in my experience I often get a smile in return. But that's obviously because I'm one of the people for whom these women make themselves pretty????

Pretty simple IMO.  Once everyone who wants a vaccine has had 2 shots, you have to open.

Entertainment and bars should be open to all vaccinated people.

There is absolutely nothing wrong/unsafe with that.

IMO groceries, markets, malls, and even 7-11 should require vaccinations to enter.

If unvaccinated,  you must order what you want on Grab or Line apps

Won't those same Grab drivers deliver stuff to you right after?

Only 3 in which world do you describe 3 as many? the majority of the others for opening on the 1st Nov for 46 countries which is what this is about are not and will not be by then.

If the government redirected all tourists to Udon Thani we would have a serious issue on our hands, given the numbers you presented. But since most tourists will be going to the three provinces with the highest rate of vaccinations, the risk is not as high as it first appears. The numbers for Krabi are however a cause for more immediate concern.

No human has more worth than any other living being.

In this case, if the dog attacked the child unprovoked, then yes, the dog should have to face consequences, maybe even euthanasia if it were found to be a serial offender or this single attack was very savage. But, if the  child attacked the dog unprovoked, then he too should have to face the same set of consequences.

That's why I added "people" to the suggestion in the original post.

That is a very dangerous position to take - and an insanely stupid one.

I'm sure I am in the minority but I like the building and would like to see it finished, with, perhaps the very top step back floors removed.  I think it's an interesting design--especially the bridge between the two sections.  Pattaya sorely lacks interesting architecture and it should be encouraged rather than destroyed.  Now that other tall projects have gone up in its vicinity--such as Unixx--it does not look out of place in the skyline.  At some point other highrises will likely follow in that general area; I think some are already planned.

For those of you who might be curious about the project, the "Think of Living' Bangkok show did an episode on the project when it was first under construction.  My partner and I stumbled upon it by accident and I think it's still available.  We were impressed by how the interior design still looked quite fresh, interesting, and appealing to us.

The history on Waterfront has become quite muddled over the years with all sorts of reasons bandied about on why construction was stopped.  My take is the very vocal protests caused too much heat for the mayor and the city.  After first defending the project, reasons were found to halt the construction.  Reasons can always be found, whether legitimate or not.  There's no doubt in my mind that if the project had been by a large, powerful Bangkok developer, rather than a small foreign one, some sort of compromise would have been worked out long ago.

I like the building, I like the design and I don't mind it being even taller. It may block part of the view from the hilltop, but it provides depth of field. And it needs to be tall to escape the stench from the sewer plant or whatever that thing is in front of Bali Hai Bay Hotel.

But I am also worried about the structural integrity of it at this point. Get some Germans to inspect it????

I agree with everything you say except the word "communist".  Fascist, elitist, or plutocratic, perhaps?

Maybe it's a case of "communism is bad, hence everything bad must be communism".

    - Waiter, take away this communist shrimp, it tastes bad.

    - This music is too loud, it must be commie music.
