Just finished watching,i dont think the way things are going we will have the "happy" ending with the refugees breaking out and being accepted, etc etc , mind you as the show goes on the wheelchair lady with two illegitamet kids gets a middle eastern husband her young boy transitions into a girl the eco warrior sister becomes a lesbian ,so all in all a great BBC left wing production.

  2. Yes, lowest pension in the developed world. As noted in this recent World Economic Forum article.
    https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2018/02/retirees-in-these-countries-receive-100-of-a-working-salary/
UK receiving 29% of a working wage on retirement, with OECD average at 63% and EU at 71%.
Factor in the frozen pensioners and it is even worse for those of us with no yearly uprating.

And from april next year they take away the wifes allowance as well.

  3. Year's & Years.

Discovered this yesterday, reading The Guardian:

    https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2019/jun/18/years-and-years-2019-terrifying-tv-show-russell-t-davies

I was more than pleasantly surprised when I watched Ep 1; it's got a 'Black Mirror' feel to it - the latter S5, was horrible!

Years, has got a good cast with Emma Thompson as an outspoken Northerner & Roy Kinnear also.

Gets going around the 14 minute mark, but when it does....! [emoji736]

  4. You are on extremely thin ice extolling the virtues of UK garages. It they do it for free it is because they have stung you for something else - no garage is going to allow you to drive in, get your brakes checked, and drive out again without paying.

Which magazine have virtually based their entire history on uncovering UK garage scams.

and anyone who is whining about a tenner for someone to check their potentially life saving brakes and providing that reassuring confirmation that their family is driving safely, really need a reality check on how their life has got to that state !
Actually my brakes were fine,i only wanted to check to see if they were nearly worn out,if so i would have changed the pads, now ,no hope i would ever use them ,God knows how much that would be there.

  5. Charged you only a tenner to check your brakes? Good deal I reckon.

No need to embellish your inability to ask up front for any minimum service charge with some vague reasoning on why another customer who's language you don't understand was upset.

Considering that at another garage,i have had a puncture fixed and the wheel rebalanced and it only costs 250 baht ,having a quik check for 400 is excesive. But then if its ok by you, please use them. Up to you.

  6.

Went into cockpit tyres today just to get my brakes checked they took off two wheels and said all ok ,put them back on,10 minutes in all ,then charged me 400 baht, couldnt believe it , also while i was there some Thai guy drove in and started complaining i think about work on his car.

Anyway 400 baht is vastly expensive just for a quick visual check ,so Cockpit on Shukumvit, never going to get a business off me.

  7. This thread is on UK pensions and what happens in other countries is off topic. Singular point mean very little, just as a reminder.

Greece once had a generous pension system – too generous to be sustainable, especially with an aging population. Retirement was possible from as early as the age of 55 after 30 years of work. Many had extra perks: public sector employees could retire as early as 52. Some women with young children could retire with a reduced pension at 50.
But the financial crisis left Greece reliant on international creditors, who pushed for economic change – not least to pensions. The standard retirement age is now 67. Many early retirement provisions have been abolished. Including pensions, incomes have dropped 40 percent over the last seven years of crisis.

What ,dropped to the level of the British pension? Poor sods, but at least they lived the high life for many many years unlike us Brits.

  8. Quite possibly a slippery slope, a gateway to more controversial and questionable issues. Along with others, I would say what an adult man does behind closed doors with an 'adult' sexbot is his own business. But what about when the industry creates 'underage' sexbots to satisfy the pedophile community? Would it be illegal since they are not exploiting a real human being? Some might claim it would help to curb their perverted urges, others might say it will only fuel them. Where is the line drawn when the description on the package says it's a petite 18-year old sexbot, but the actual product appears much younger?
Actually they make them in Japan, illegal to import to the UK, no i do not have one, read it ages ago in a newspaper.

  9. You seem to be kind of a bullheaded person without any sense of irony. Because it's you, I can give you a hint. It seems you don't know Thailand very well. OK, often when you ask a guy where he met his wife he would not admit that she was a former hooker but......see my initial post. It doesn't mean none of these former bar girls will become a sucessful business woman later on. I would guess 0.01 % will. Oh shit, irony again. GOT IT ?

  10.
Recently I have put on a few kilos and developed a little bit of a paunch.
Every day I tell myself that when I get home I will get on the punchbag and get some training in but by the end of a hard day's work I find it very difficult to motivate myself when staring at a canvas 'faceless' punchbag.

Does anyone know whether a Diane Abbott model is available?

Yes the Dianne Abbott one is seventy twelve pounds, she talks and said how much she is.

  11. Yes yes we know. Mine has a doctor degree, was a police officer, opera singer, daughter of a high ranked general, owns several big farms in Isaan......[emoji12]

You did not read the post properly did you.
She was a bar girl, not a police officer, singer or accounts clerk,a hooker worked in bar( got it so far?) But now is married and lives in the UK and is the hight of respectability, you would not guess how she started out in life.
GOT IT? People can and do change their lives. If they want to.

  12. Anyway, what I would like to say, it is the most innocent decent looking girls you should be aware of, it is them who will take you by surprise, not the slutty ones.
Funny you should say that but the wife and i sometimes joke when we see a really slutty girl, asking does she work in a bank or a posh office, but the biggest surprise i ever got was became friendly with a guy who ran a business with his wife, she was the least likely woman you could ever imagined had been a hooker, one day he admited that he had met her in a bar years before, well to say the wife and i were shocked was an understatement.
