  1. Now, a new review suggests your risk of a brain bleed outweighs any heart benefit that a daily aspirin might bring you. Researchers said the findings support a recent change to guidelines on low-dose aspirin: The blood thinner should now be reserved for people at high risk of heart attack or stroke.

  2. The income or savings requirements are far higher for settling in the UK than for Extensions of Stay in Thailand. Plus UK requires a NHS payment (basically insurance), TB certificate and Thais have to pass a basic English test.

  3. So, what is your plan B????

You got a too low income for UK to go with family and also you Can't pay insurance.

Might be time for a move before it's too late. I read about Bulgaria, Romania or Hungary, where it's not expensive to live with low income. However it will have to have more Research.

    Good Luck

Who said i cant afford insurance,? Not me i just do not want to pay 70 or 80k a year for something that is of no use .i prefere to pay for my own hospital visits.

  4. I think the reason for the insurance has been misrepresented. They are basically saying the system is underfunded treating foreigners.
Thais pay tax then get the advantage of subsidised healthcare, foreigners don't pay tax then use the subsidised healthcare.

Any foreigner using the Thai public health , even if they pay (the subsidised rate) in full, is by definition a loss, they didn't pay tax for 20 years to fund the system.

Its not the bill at the hospital thats not being paid, its the funding of the system thats not being paid by foreigners.

If a Thai person goes to hospital and gets a band-aid, cost of providing the band-aid 100 baht, Thai taxes pays 80 baht and the Thai person pays 20 baht.
If a foreigner gets the band-aid, they pay 20 baht, there is an 80 baht loss
When Thai Gov says they didn't get paid X billions, they are talking about the 80 baht, not the 20 baht.

I think you have a vivid imagination "you think to much"

  5. ..what about me ...I am 76 years old, staying in Thailand now with a yearly retirement extension and married with a Thai lady for more than 30 years.
I cannot find any company offering me a health insurance...and I cannot blame them because they are not in the business of providing health insurance but in the business of making money
If you listen to some of the nasty posters on here, they dont care just leave everything and piss off home. But then most of them own nothing, just live day to day on the barstool and it does not matter to them if they have to leave.most of us though are here with wives children ,homes and a REAL life.

  6. Who knows right [emoji6]

Truth is as always the govt makes new rules & Immigration will be confused/uninformed as to how to implement but............

From what I am reading I think the new insurance for Non Imm OA Visa obtained outside Thailand at your home country consulates yes will need insurance
    to complete

But any long stay extension done inside Thailand will have the new 800k for X amount of months?  & 400k remainder months?
That basically is the insurance requirement covered by the 400k....probably easier than trying to suss who has what policy etc.

So if your doing your extension inside Thailand & are following the seasoned money in bank rules you will not need the insurance since your 400k
is showing a form of locked in self insured?

But as usual like I said Who knows right? [emoji3] That is my guess & how I have read it so far
How each Imm office will interpret it is anyone's guess
But you cannot spend the 400k ,if you do you lose your visa,is that not right?
