Can't do it online because she has never filed a report before. And I have a feeling there must be an issue with filing it here otherwise the agent would gladly have taken the money.

I guess the issue is that it needs to be filed where your registered address is. Which is probably in Nakhon Nowhere, wherever your volunteer visa/extension was done. Or did you formally move to Bangkok afterwards?

  2. I think it's not unreasonable to require health/travel insurance coverage from all foreign visitors.

Allowing people to self-insure is risky, as only few foreign visitors would be able to cover the cost of a major unforeseen medical emergency, if it came to that. It's not just a question of having the money, but also of being able to access it from abroad (and, worst case scenario, comatose). I don't see why Thailand or any other country would want that risk. The EU's Schengen countries have been asking for medical coverage since a long time.

That has been changed. No holiday on the 7th now and then the 10th and 11th.

The Bank of Thailand has not cancelled the 7th as a bank holiday, but they did add the 11th. Presumably because they didn't announce an extra bank holiday for last month's long weekend.

So I wouldn't expect any money to arrive from abroad next week on 7th, 10th or 11th.

  4. The recipient doesn't get to see the sender's name. But I suspect they could ask their bank which account the money has been sent from, and knowing the account number they would be able to get to know the name of the account owner.

If you want to deposit money into someone's Thai bank account anonymously from within Thailand, for whatever reason, then use a cash deposit machine of their bank.

  5. This looks unnecessarily convoluted to me, as all those who need to get tested still need to mail a sample to a lab. They could just as well visit the Red Cross HIV clinic and have their result much quicker.

For those who don't want to go to a clinic: Why don't they roll out home test kits that don't require sending in a sample, like with pregnancy tests? They do exist in other countries.

  6. I've made the TM30 registration process part of my move-in procedures. A landlord who fails to sign the form and provide me with the requisite copies when the contract is being signed neither gets my signature nor my deposit. Their choice. So far, no issues, but I've read too many reports such as this one over the years.
