Hope springs eternal. It's just so hard to distinguish from delusion sometimes, especially with Thai tourism officials.

I'll visit once the restaurants will be open and allowed to sell alcohol. I'm not interested in a kindergarten outing without alcohol.

That's a ridiculous accusation. Just as similar accusations against Trump were also ridiculous.
The US could do with fewer attention whores.

May it sink the Baht.

I guess that means that he will have even less time to focus on his job. Probably a good thing, considering his performance.

Thanks to the lockdown, I save between 20,000 and 30,000 baht per month.

Hmm.
And I kept hearing and reading how much more free and better Cambodia is compared to Thailand.
Catching up - for better or worse.

No. I would let others test it for me first. Once I'm reasonably sure that it's reasonably safe, I'll get the vaccine as well.
Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Luckily most visitors to Pattaya don't come for the beach, although it's a beach resort of sorts.

Start with opening the beaches and public parks!

I do agree and understand what you say - but for the money they make you keep in a bank account and all the other costs - surel;y 90 day reporting etc should be exempt, and maybe some recognition, or benefits??
If recognition is what you crave, as a foreigner, then Thailand simply isn't the right country - as far as the officialdom is concerned, I'm not talking about regular people's attitude towards foreigners.
The prevailing attitude of the Thai officialdom towards foreigners is suspicion.
Personally, I can live with that, because it's reciprocal - I view Thai officials with suspicion as well. ????

Getting a tourist visa is the least of your problems. How will you get into the country once you have it?

I think Malaysia's program is great, but the simple truth is, most members of the target group prefer to spend their time in Thailand, even if that means having to deal with Thai immigration and their silly little annoyances. Ultimately, the reporting and yearly extension amounts to nothing more than that, annoyances.

I might visit just to get that prized sticker - Buriram, here I come!

It was a high number but I don't remember it being that high. It is 200 per day at each crossing.
Plus those who wade through the river instead of using an official crossing, reportedly.

Just been back this morning got the rest of her 30 day extension stamp now till 6th May.IO told her you can stay now until 31 July, but if Thai/Lao's border opens before this date you must leave within 7 days of border opening or will be fined for overstay.
That's interesting. From immigration's announcements, I had assumed that the "must depart within 7 days" rule only applies to border pass holders, not to those from neighboring countries who were stamped in using their passports.

Depends on the bank. Some are more flexible than others when it comes to having to travel to your account's home branch. From my experience, for example, having to go back to your account opening branch is much more likely with Bangkok Bank than with Kasikorn Bank.

If only one person enters this so-called "safe zone" within those 28 days, it cannot be considered safe anymore. As it's impossible to prevent this from happening, I think the whole concept of designating a "safe zone" is questionable.
Then again, I'm not a Thai expert virologist. What do I know?

None of these drugs - none - have been proven to be effective against the novel coronavirus so far.

Thailand's testing capacity, or lack thereof as it were, is scary. It's probably best to assume the real number of "discovered" COVID-19 patients is close to the PUI number, not the "confirmed" number.

Wondering if Laos or Vietnam border will be open first for a NON-O multi...
My guess (!) would be Laos, but it's too early to speculate when and what strings will be attached. For example, you might not be able to return to Thailand, or you might be subjected to quarantine in Laos, Thailand or both.

I'm remarkably calm considering.
the constant misleading advice and guarantees in here are shameful.
not even an acknowledgement from you.
Any chance you can STOP making promises until you are sure ?
is that really unreasonable to ask?
Could you post your latest stamp you received today? If it's yet another "under consideration" stamp, it simply means your extension hasn't been approved yet - which is what ubonjoe tried to explain to you. Once you'll have your final extension stamp, you will be covered by the amnesty till July 31st.

I think they can strike the criterion "hold jobs related to tourism" from the list - no new tourist arrivals since more than three weeks.

I didn't even realize they were closed. In my neighborhood (in Bangkok), pretty much all bank branches including micro branches staid open through all of it.
