  1. Seriously? I'd love to know what that translates to, in an actual USD amount.
  2. It's really about time. Get rid of it.
  3. How can you get bored in Thailand? If you get bored in Thailand, you'll get bored anywhere and everywhere, maybe it's you
  4. I have no doubt that this is the direct result of the sheer number of Thais who have been found working illegally in South Korea, despite their claim that they want to enter the country for tourism. So they did need to step up their screening of Thai visitors.
  5. I think they wanted to simplify the tedious eVisa application process and this might well be the result. For a single-entry tourist visa from a faraway country where the flight in itself is expensive, it really is quite pointless to ask for proof of having 20,000 baht in the bank.
  6. They usually report their guests online. If you ask them nicely, they should be willing and able to provide you with a screenshot of their online notification, which would be acceptable proof (make sure to print it though, immigration loves paper).
  7. It's always a good idea to take along proof of TM30 notification, as you can never be sure that they won't ask. The "current situation" can change from one day to the next, and sometimes you won't even get past the initial document check for obtaining your queue card if you can't show it.
  8. For some strange reason, you don't seem to be in any hurry to resolve your situation. Now about that other guy, it doesn't matter if it's 1 year or 1.5 years, the advice would be the same.
  9. I didn't. I weighed the probabilities of two scenarios, based on experience with countless similar stories over the years. I guess we'll see about this one in due time.
  10. Indeed. It would be great if you would share your 10 rules for success with us.
  11. I guess they've given up on the wires and moved on to the sidewalks. Maybe they can fix the air pollution next, it's starting to get appalling already. Quite early this year. 🙄
  12. Of course not, they'll come back with a completely different story in a few days anyway. Thai reporting. 🙄
  13. You can do it either online or at your immigration office. You don't need to do both.
  14. It's hit and miss. Chances are they won't look at it if you take it along, but ask for it if you don't. I'd make sure to have it.
  15. Nice one, not as evil as the Thai jetski scam though. 🤑
  16. He's not just a big joke, he's pathetic.
  17. What qualifies as "reporting" here is often shoddy, and often the original story takes an interesting twist over the coming days. I wouldn't be surprised either way, but more often than not, "unprovoked" attacks do have a prelude.
  18. Possibly but that would be rare. More likely that this tourist had had an encounter with one of the youths before this happened, then the youth called his friends and tracked him down for revenge.
  19. Yes the "online" extension, as it stands, is a complete joke in my opinion. Hopefully it's just a first step and they'll come up with something better. In the meantime, your plan sounds like a good idea.
  20. You CAN get the 30-day extension upcountry same as before Covid. You just cannot get the "online" extension upcountry, as you'd still need to attend immigration in Bangkok to get the stamp.
  21. Pathetic, albeit not unexpected.
  22. Saddening. After surviving the ordeal in the cave, I would have wished all those boys will have a long and happy life. RIP Dom.
  23. I think what you don't understand is that not only do they send you the itinerary produced by the onward ticket service themselves, but you can actually go to the airline's website, log in with your booking code and name, to verify your PNR. Lo and behold, the airline ALSO offers the option, to print (or export as PDF) your itinerary. That one looks a lot more legit and indistinguishable from one you'd get when booking with that airline directly. I think this option is common knowledge among people who have actually used such a service, but it doesn't hurt mentioning that this is what you should do.
  24. You're just plain wrong about that. Immigration can and does issue visas within Thailand under certain circumstances. Take a hint from reading the stamp which literally says, "Non-Immigrant Visa".
