  1. He couldn't even crack down on a nut if he was given a nutcracker.
  2. Why would Thailand care about the GBP exchange rate, what's the relevance with regards to the purchasing power of a retiree in Thailand? The result of the GBP's demise is, of course, that fewer people from the UK will be able to retire in Thailand in the future.
  3. Other than the border being closed, there's no problem. ????
  4. If he gets the job, that would be a big joke indeed. Other than seeking (and getting) plenty of attention, he hasn't really accomplished anything. They're still finding overstayers who were already around when he famously got "all of them" rounded up. Recently he did some human trafficking suppression in Pattaya, and the day after he left the local police station went back to their normal ways of doing business.
  5. That's highly doubtful. As you do have a Thai credit card with sufficient credit, go to an ATM, do a cash advance (withdrawal) with that credit card and put that money into your bank account to satisfy the closing balance requirement. That will cost you a bit (cash advance fees), but is guaranteed to work.
  6. That depends. At some immigration offices, you won't get past the document check without a TM30 receipt. So even when it's in the system, you still need to add a screenshot of your record to your documents.
  7. It's a lot easier than you think.
  8. The payoffs seem to be substantial then.
  9. Oh that's a tough call, whom to believe? One of them is a notorious liar and conman, the other one has proven to have some integrity and a spine.
  10. He'll get rid of just as much corruption as his hapless predecessor has returned happiness to the people. In fact I think his government will be more corrupt than anything we've seen.
  11. This story is complete <deleted> any way you look at it.
  12. What would that faith be based on? He's done nothing to earn the public's trust, but a lot to destroy any goodwill people might have had, by the crooked way he forged his coalition.
  13. What did they expect? Most of those Russian refugees are draft dodgers, so they are quite unsurprisingly able-bodied and of working age. The vast majority aren't rich, so they need to work to survive. Sure, there are also bona-fide Russian tourists who now come to Thailand in larger numbers because they're no longer welcome where they used to holiday before. But they still have many options and aren't the ones those locals complain about.
  14. Oh look, another hub Bangkok or Thailand wants to become.
  15. Seriously, at this point, there's no confidence and trust still left to lose.
  16. That headline is a great way to make Chinese tourists feel welcome. ????
  17. Why "although"? And what took them so long, seeing that the arrest warrant is from 2015?
  18. That's great news all around, thanks for the update @steve0101
  19. Thailand's reputation as a tourist destination has pretty much tanked in China. Add to this China's economy and the Chinese government's promotion of domestic tourism. I don't think a free visa will make any tangible difference.
  20. This might well become the worst and most corrupt government Thailand has ever seen, and that would be quite an accomplishment. United in kleptomania, that's pretty much all these coalition partners have in common.
  21. At any land border, Thailand won't stamp you back in if you haven't entered and exited the neighboring country as per stamps in your passport from that country.
