  1. He had to put his heart and "soul" into his personal urges.
  2. I see this country heads the list! More scammers and fraudsters, just what Thailand needs as "tourists"
  3. The car driver certainly "upset the apple cart"!! Reference (Google)- This expression started out as upset the cart , used since Roman times to mean “spoil everything.” The precise idiom dates from the late 1700s.
  4. To be honest, I do not see the relevance of "Panama-flagged" There must be many Panama-flagged ships around the World - flag of convenience. Congratulations Phuket authorities for rescuing the Indonesian crew member. No further comment from me.
  5. Surely this should be "nightime robbery'?😄
  6. Interesting photos and yes, a reminder of ex-colonial days as I witnessed in Rangoon during my visits. Despite the state of disrepair, how fascinating to see satellite "dishes" on the roof tops.
  7. I totally agree. Those Russians could possibly have been business men (as quoted), diplomats or even military advisers in "civvies". Russia and China supply military equipment to the Burmese military (Tatmadaw), for example fighter jets which kill and injure many thousands of innocent civilians.
  8. And why not? It is a matter of personal choice and I commend Simon for all his charitable work in Burma. There are many persons like Simon who are living in "conflict" countries around the World "doing good" for the local people, especially the young and poor. Congratulations Simon! At one point during my retirement in Thailand, living across the border in Tachilek (Burma) was considered by me as I had Burmese friends there. Thai bureaucratic "officialdom" was the reason, but it never happened, the result of the latest coup, and I relocated to Siem Reap in Cambodia where I live to this day.
  9. Why? Normal behaviour - Pattaya is THE hub for sex tourists, sex perverts and sex-pats!
  10. Hi Simon. Happy New Year, however please take care and try and avoid the genocidal Tatmadaw and its allies.
  11. With respect, I have never heard of Soi Yensabi in Chiang Mai. My hotel was in the Chang Phueak district, not far from the RAM Hospital. I do not own a smartphone and that was the reason the hotel ordered food for me, delivered by a motorcycle rider to whom I paid money - double the cost (80 baht) of a similar dish (40 baht) from the local street market. Whatever, this was my first experience of food ordered from an app - never again!
  12. With respect, my bad experience was in Thailand (Chiang Mai) not Cambodia where I never order food by app because I prepere and cook my own (as stated in my post)
  13. Yet another high class Pattaya tourist/resident?
  14. I have no idea which company delivered my food, but recently having arrived late in Chiang Mai from Cambodia, the local street food market was closing and my hotel very kindly used an app to order hot food for me. It arrived after 30 minutes but it was cold, greasey and disgusting. I will never order food using an app again. I prepare and cook all my own food back home in Cambodia.
  15. Sadly, if this was a routine visit to the market, the insurgents would have known and planted their bomb for full effect!
  16. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 307 seconds
  17. My best laugh of the day - so far! I wonder what a certain Belgian tourist would think
  18. Do you accept that Earth is spherical -or- do you believe it is flat How about bipyramid - north pole at top, south pole at bottom?
  19. From TAT to all foreign tourists and residents - "We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas ---etc, etc, etc,!
  20. Great news! IMO Japan - no ghastly sex tourism, no cannabis shops, no robbing ladyboys, no bars full with whinging old fart ex-pats, hardly any scamming of tourists and a genuine welcome! Long may the country stay at the top! No further comment from me.
