As far as I am aware "NO". February 2024: Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 8 – There was no mention of the reopening of Preah Vihear Temple access for Thai tourists during the bilateral talks between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on 7 February 2024. Jean François Tan, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister spoke at a press conference on 7 February 2024 after Samdech Thipadei concluded his official visit to Thailand. https://m.en.freshnewsasia.com/index.php/en/localnews/45705-2024-02-08-04-07-40.html Two interesting issues back in 2023; (a stumbling block?) if the Cambodian government agrees to reopen the border, which would allow Thai and international tourists direct access to Preah Vihear Temple from Thailand, Cambodia retains the sole right to sell tickets to the ancient site. “This is to acknowledge our culture and recognise Preah Vihear as part of Cambodia to tourists,” said Phea, “Temple guides must be Cambodian and Thai guides will not be allowed,” he said. Phea added that this condition is to ensure that Thai guides wouldn’t introduce incorrect information about the temple to tourists. https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501294840/thailand-requests-reopening-of-preah-vihear-temple-access/

AirAsia soars to new heights: Asia’s best low-cost carrier for 2024
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good news - my favourite regional airline. Pre-Covid and now, I used/use Air Asia's "Fly-Thru" services. When I lived in Thailand, from Khon Kaen to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Burma (pre Junta). Now I live in Cambodia, from Siem Reap to destinations in Thailand. Easy to book and pay (debit card) for tickets via the internet on my personal computer. Excellent wheel chair service. I have never experienced any problems such as flight cancellations. As a "frequent flyer" I am often upgraded to a "red seat" for free!. I always recommend Air Asia. -

Yes indeed and thanks. After the first big rain storm here in Siem Reap a few days ago, we were subjected to millions of the termites swarming everywhere. All main lights outside and inside my apartment were turned off but even so, some found their way in and scattered dead on the tile floor (aerosol spray). Stock photo of swarming termites - just like I experienced!

Why you shouldnt carry cash in Thailand
Burma Bill replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
With respect, NO, especially when your mobile (smart) phone is stolen, damaged, mislaid or the battery is "dead"! Personally I use cash which I get from my bank's ATM using my debit card. I do use this card when making certain bulk purchases at my local supermarket or booking tickets with Air Asia. I still use my trusty 3G mobile for calls and text messages - ideal FOR ME! You can stuff your QR codes. At home I have a personal computer workstation for access to the internet. -

PM Srettha Unaware of Thaksin’s Myanmar Rebel Talks
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
For reference: Asean's 5 point consensus On April 24, 2021, the leaders of nine ASEAN member states and Myanmar junta chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, agreed to the following five points: an immediate end to violence in the country; dialogue among all parties; the appointment of a special envoy; humanitarian assistance by ASEAN; and the special envoy’s visit to Myanmar to meet with all parties. from the start, it was “thoroughly clear that Min Aung Hlaing (Burmese Junta Chief)) was insincere in signing it and had no intention of following it.” https://aseanmp.org/2023/04/24/asean-must-take-stronger-stance-beyond-five-point-consensus-southeast-asian-mps-say/#:~:text=On April 24%2C 2021%2C the,ASEAN%3B and the special e -
