  1. Have you tried BIG C Extra? They stock 2XL men's underwear. I purchased Rosso briefs in Chiang Mai but not sure about the availability of boxer shorts.
  2. Fake news posted by a Russian, North Korean or Chinese Government agency??
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 80/100 My Time 225 seconds
  4. With respect AN, what a load of printed garbage!
  5. Thanks - my thought as well! Has the School Director plundered funds set aside for such maintenance and repairs (similar to those scamming school meal budgets)
  6. Yesterday's bus crash in Pattaya, carrying Chinese tourists, will not be re-assuring news back in China.
  7. Fortunately in my case, no large sums of money involved. During the past 3 years, I have been scammed and I am now on my THIRD Visa Debit Card. My bank were aware no authorisation was given by me for the relevent transactions and have refunded the money. In the first instance, my mobile phone rang 3 times in quick succession around 2:30am whilst I was asleep. My bank card was in my wallet alongside me. 3 small sums in Malaysian Ringits (totalling 30$) were withdrawn to pay Facebook accounts (as I later found out). A new card was arranged. In the second instance, the new card details were used in quick succession again, this time around 12.30pm (lunchtime) to pay 2 accounts in US$ (totalling 40$) to Apple.com/bill. (I checked this on my computer and was warned of a security risk and not to open it). In this second scam, my bank phoned me to enquire if I had authorised the transactions - which I had not. My second card was blocked and I am now using a 3rd Visa debit card and keeping my fingers crossed! I do not own a smartphone and personal internet banking I perform on my home computer. I do not use my debit card for on-line purchases other than booking airline tickets with Air Asia.
  8. Am I right in thinking TAT guaranteed the health & safety of Chinese tourists to the Chinese Ambassador in Bangkok??
  9. I wonder what was his favourite breed - Cocker Spaniels??
  10. Oh dear! Thailand being governed by a load of pothead junkies. Glad I left. No further comment from me.
  11. As a regular "frequent flyer" (bonus points in the bag!) I personally have never experienced any delays, in fact on many ocassions the flight has arrived earlier than scheduled.
  12. Thanks - my thought as well. A lithium battery, possibly Chinese. These electric bikes (both 2 and 3 wheel) are very popular here in Siem Reap, in fact throughout Cambodia. Most are Chinese made with Chinese lithium batteries. My landlord's wife has recently purchased one for 800 US$.
  13. Let us hope any holes/trenches will be adequately protected to prevent drunken ex-pats and tourists from falling into them when staggering from bars!
  14. Having to wear a mandatory face mask??
  15. I personally hope these weapons are now in the hands of the ethnic armies fighting for democracy and freedom throughout many areas of Burma. The Junta is very slowly crumbling, the latest defeat being in Lashio in the Shan State. As Tatmadaw soldiers are killed or captured, their weapons and ammunition are being seized by the "freedom" armies and used against them. Thank you Thai banks. Reference 26 July 2024 A Myanmar rebel group claims to have seized a major regional military headquarters in the city of Lashio near the border with China, in what would mark a historic and humiliating defeat for the country’s military junta. The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) said that it had completely captured the military’s Northeastern Regional Command headquarters at 4 a.m. that morning, after 23 days of fighting. “The liberation of Lashio will mark a historic victory in our revolution,” the group declared. The MNDAA also claimed to have established effective control over the city of Lashio, which lies 110 kilometers south of the Chinese border. “Our army has won a decisive victory and is now clearing out the remaining enemy (Tatmadaw) troops. The city is now declared completely liberated,” it added, urging the public to remain calm and comply with its administration of the city. https://thediplomat.com/2024/07/myanmar-rebel-group-claims-capture-of-major-military-hq-in-shan-state/
  16. With respect, not quite true. During the era of the Khmer Rouge, there was sea access at Sihanoukville Deep Water Port and weapons could have been imported from China and Russia. (ref) In April 1975, when the country fell to the Khmer Rouge regime, the port was the last evacuation site of the U.S. Army. During the Cambodian genocide, nearly all business and industry in Sihanoukville came to a halt. https://www.britannica.com/place/Sihanoukville The fate of a young New Zealand sailor who was arrested when he sailed into Cambodia Waters. (A young British sailor met the same fate) Kerry Hamill was a great letter-writer, so his family knew something was wrong when his carefully penned correspondence stopped in 1978. The young New Zealander accidentally sailed into Cambodian waters and was then captured, tortured and killed by the Khmer Rouge at the S-21 prison in Phnom Penh, where thousands died. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-06-12/nt-cambodia-kerry-hamill-khmer-rouge/101142036
  17. Thank you for your comments. This is a new service (from July 2024) with one overnight train (133) from Bangkok through to Vientiane. Sleeping and seating accomodation is provided. At Nong Khai Station (not at the bridge) passengers for Vientiane alight to complete Thai Immigration formalities before re-boarding the train to continue across the bridge to Vientiane Station (not the HST one), where Laos Immigration is formalised. As far as I know, and I may be wrong, the only new construction is the Thai Immigration Office at Nong Khai Station along with refurbishment of the track. The narrow gauge (one metre) railway infrastructure between Nong Khai and Vientiane has been in place for many years when the Friendship Bridge was built, hence nothing new on Google Earth. The above photo in the report, shows passengers from the Bangkok train, queing for Thai Immigration at Nong Khai before re-boarding to continue their journey to Vientiane. This answers your question "Anyone actually got on the train in Thailand and then got off in Laos" - YES I refer again to - https://www.thailandtrains.com/trains-from-bangkok-to-vientiane/
  18. With respect, the train crosses the bridge to continue its journey to Vientiane. Thai Immigration is situated in Nong Khai Station and Laos Immigration is at the terminal station in Vientiane.
  19. BEIJING, CHINA- APRIL 7, 2017: How about this one (stock photo) - brilliant! Xi Jinping, how about it then!!
  20. Maybe he should have used "White Spirit"!
  21. For reference: The outward and return journeys are overnight - there are no daytime services. The train leaves Bangkok (Bang Sue Grand Station) at 21.25 to arrive in Vientiane at 09.05 (11 hours and 40 minutes). Train Number 133. There is no mention of a restaurant/buffet car, but no doubt along the way the vendors will be on with their baskets of "goodies" in the seated accomodation. Sleeper berths are in great demand so book well in advance. Further details- https://www.thailandtrains.com/trains-from-bangkok-to-vientiane/
  22. Yes indeed, I read that as well. Very sad for his family and my condolences to them.
  23. I wonder how many "pot heads" in Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok etc. end up talking to Beer Bar "old cows"?
