  1. Many shot by a certain Thai construction business tycoon??
  2. From the link: These were 3 Thai touchline staff........................................The committee viewed that they are senior staff with long experience and a duty to train the players, so they should have set an example................................. they got involved in the brawls themselves, so the committee issued the maximum penalties. Well I never - the likes of Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp???
  3. Wrong! IMO the terrorists are the like of General Win, his Junta cronies and the Tatmadaw.
  4. The early Khmer Civilization also worshipped a phallic symbol called a Linga. Many can be seen in the Angkor Wat complex.
  5. Here we ago again - all the pro and anti mask/vaccination brigade will be having a field day, from their favourite bar stool??
  6. Possibly, the family construction business is SINO Thai.
  7. Yes it has - very much so! Much infrastructure redevelopement and modernisation since the shutdown due to Covid-19. View of Siem Reap from "The Eye" and the riverside park with view of the Raffles Grand D'Angkor Hotel (yes a Raffles hotel!)
  8. I bet he did not offer humanitarian aid and sympathy to the ordinary Burmese people who have suffered at the hands of the Tatmadaw, his Junta buddies!
  9. For reference: Phu Pha Man is 107 kms west of Khon Kaen City. Take Route 12 to Chum Phae and continue beyond to 2nd major set of traffic lights where the road bears right. Take right fork Route 201 to Loei. You will soon enter Phu Pha Man District where you can also visit the Bat Cave (at sunset when millions of the creatures fly out) and just further on Phu Pha Man National Park with its scenic mountains, forests and waterfalls. Photo taken at Bat Cave.
  10. Some monk-ey business with intent??
  11. RIP Burmese lady and man. Possibly on their way to market to sell their fish and then taken out by a speeding thai lunatic. IMO the Fortuner driver got what he deserved!
  12. Thank you for your comments. For those unaware, the Killing Fields are located in Choeung Ek, about 17 kms south of Phnom Penh. They are now a memorial to the victims of Pol Pot and his evil subordinates. Even today, due to soil erosion, one can see pieces of clothing and bones protruding from the ground. Special boxes are located around the trails to deposit these remins - if you so desire! They eventually get the reverence they deserve. My photos - the Memorial Building (stacked with skulls) and a collecting box:
  13. Yes, I'm glad I left Thailand to continue retirement in Siem Reap.
  14. Selling electricity to the Burmese Junta with payments from Burma using "dirty" money??
  15. Yes indeed. It is unimaginable the depths of depravity some perverts will sink to. When I was employed as a Forensic Scientist in the UK Police Service, along with colleagues, I attended the tragic murder of a young baby who was "spiked" on a metal fence.
  16. Yes they do. Only Cambodian/Khmer people get free entry ALSO foreigners/ex-pats who have lived permanently in the country for at least 2 YEARS. As a UK ex-pat I get a free annual pass (renewable) to visit the Angkor Archaeological Park whenever I so desire, courtesy of the Royal Cambodian Government. Entrance fees can be found on this website: https://www.siemreap.net/guides/angkor/hours-admission/ I live in Siem Reap and arrived 3 years ago, having lived in retirement in Thailand for 20 years. Siem Reap has improved with many infrastructure modernisation projects. Roads have been widened, traffic lights, people crossings, dedicated cycle ways (especially towards Angkor Wat itself), parks, riverside promenades and gardens improved. Currently Siem Reap is extremely busy with many tourists as I witnessed this afternoon whilst shopping. The popular street food stalls were being set up alongside the river prior to the roads becoming "traffic free" as with Pub Street with many new bars and restaurants. Fortunately the days of ghetto blasting music are long gone as have the mobile kerbside cocktail bars. On one of my "free" trips, I visited the renovated Neak Pean Temple on an island linked by a new causeway (2 photos). The first picture shows the extent of the UNESCO Angkor Archaeological Park with Angkor Wat to the south. The one full day small circuit can be very exhausting in hot and humid weather. Wear strong shoes, a hat/cap and have plenty of drinking water.
  17. Thanks, brought back memories of Kan Air flights I made between Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai several years ago. A hot meal (spag bol) was included on the ATR plane. I remember very comforable seats and fantastic views from the plane as it flew at a much lower altitude than the jets. Thai Air Asia now fly the route. Kan Air ATR 72–500, Khon Kaen Airport, (December 2014)
  18. What would be ideal is to re-introduce regular flights between Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son - just 35 minutes over the mountains by turbo-prop! So, to fly from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son, one will have to fly south to BKK then back north to MHS? Alternatively one could drive or take the train from CM to Lampang then board a flight to MHS? For those not familiar with this mountainous region in Lanna, by road would take: Northern Loop route 1095 from CM to MHS (via Pai) - 235 kms (5 hours) Southern Loop route 108 from CM to MHS (via Mae Sariang) - 380 kms (8 hours)
  19. From Mae Hong Son to Pai Route 1095 is a very scenic drive and an experience!
  20. Just a thought;- How about civil unrest throughout Thailand and not just Bangkok? If there were properly organised covert guerilla actions at military bases throughout Thailand to disrupt their infrastructure, then the military would not have "soldier power" to concentrate on Bangkok. Moderators please remove if considered inflammatory. Thanks.
  21. Thanks, my thought as well. A pot head stoned out of his mind?
  22. Now the muck raking begins, probably back to his childhood days, to find any incriminating evidence! Sadly I hope not, and I wonder how many of those military Senators have dubious backgrounds. Set up a committee to investigate them!! Any at fault, eject them from the Senate.
  23. I eat a regular dose of blood, nor crocodile but pig's - as black pudding with my breakfast!!
