  1. Yes indeed and my apologies for any confusion. I was discussing the lady's "impressive salary" and comparing to my income based on my UK pensions - sorry.
  2. With my apologies for any confusion, I receive three pensions each month.
  3. Thank you for your comment but interestingly, the amount is a lot more than my UK basic state pension which was frozen at 17,200 baht per month 14 years ago! As I now live in Cambodia, keeping money in the bank to satisfy the Thai Government is no longer a necessity, here one can access your money for any amount at any time! My 2 additional index linked pensions make for a comfortable living.
  4. I suppose for many Thais, and some ex-pats, this is an impressive monthly income but with me, my 3 monthly pensions total is far greater!
  5. Winning 2 "local" village lotteries (not the Thai National Lottery) and receiving 60,000 baht (30,000 baht on each ocassion).
  6. So they will be kept locked up in a "monk-ey house"?
  7. So, will there be many kibbutz's established in Lanna and Isaan??
  8. OMG - glad I lived up North when in retirement in Thailand. My last rental was a one bedroom bungalow with veranda and carport for 3,500 baht per month!
  9. One for you and one for me etc..........................
  10. Well I'm blowed! Took me back 23 years to my time in UK Police Service. "Paddy Wagon" was slang for a police vehicle that carried prisoners. Origin USA: Over half the people arrested in New York in the 1840s and 1850s were Irish, so that police vans were dubbed "paddy wagons" (Google)
  11. Apologies, and very sorry to have spoilt your breakfast. Not crab paste on toast by any chance? Have an enjoyable day and cheers!
  12. How about being dresssed like this - colours should cover every political party?
  13. In this context - pubic lice;- Also shown in the photo are their eggs "cemented" to the hairs. Dry, clean hairs are preferred, greasy ones not so - difficulty in "cementing" egg to greasy hair.
  14. Yes indeed. China relies on Burma's rich natural resources, especially oil and gas which is pumped from Sittwe in the Bay of Bengal across Burma to Kunming in China. The country has a very big influence in Burma. Reference (Google): Since 1989, China has supplied Myanmar with jet fighters, armored vehicles and naval vessels and has trained Burmese army, air force and naval personnel. Access to Myanmar's ports and naval installations provide China with strategic influence in the Bay of Bengal, in the wider Indian Ocean region and in Southeast Asia. Of all its trading partners, Myanmar traded most with China, which accounted for over 26 percent of total trade volume.Dec 19, 2022
  15. A type of "sting" operation??
  16. Maybe "Camel Republic" in Cha-Am would be more appropriate??
  17. Does the hospital use water beds?
  18. If that is the case, then arrest and imprison Prayut and his cronies for treason when they staged the coup in 2014!
  19. Absolutely brilliant, especially if you lived in the North of Thailand (as I did in Lanna throughout the premierships of Mister T and Yingluck). Agriculture and infrastructure improvement projects, business investments and expansion, prosperity for the local communities etc. etc.. Money was directed away from Bangkok to help the rural areas and their provincial cities.
  20. So much for the earlier promotions of "Safe and Trusted Thailand"
  21. With the greatest respect, a case of "the blind leading the blind"?
  22. Maybe after the General Election, it will be criminalised again by a new parliament!
